About: This app is from the people who wrote the book on using heart rate monitors to
get healthier, stronger, and fitter…literally…and have been coaching and
training others with monitors for over 35 years. Heart Zones Training™ app is
all about you and your heart rate, your heart health.

About Heart Zones Training

Oh, one really huge final feature, this simple powerful app was created by the woman who wrote the first book on training with a heart rate monitor, who created the first PE program for schools and health clubs using a heart rate monitor, and who has now published over 10 titles using a heart rate monitor for weight loss, running, cycling, triathlon, personal coaching and training - she’s the pioneer and the developer of Heart Zones Training™ - Hall of Fame triathlete Sally Edwards.

Heart Zones Training™ app is for any workout type - cardio, strength, flexibility - and any activity - walking, running, skating, cycling, hiking, cross training, hey - snowshoeing - to help keep your heart healthy and your stress low.

This app is from the people who wrote the book on using heart rate monitors to get healthier, stronger, and fitter…literally…and have been coaching and training others with monitors for over 35 years.

Now, go have some fun, use your iPhone and the Heart Zones Training™ app for the 3 M’s: monitor, measure, and manage your workouts as you do the 3E’s: be entertained, be educated, and be engaged.

Heart Zones Training™ app is all about you and your heart rate, your heart health.

And, this is one of the best companions (OK - we think it’s the best) to make your heart rate monitor your best friend.

Paint Bucket Display: If you choose one of the workouts called “Easy 30” or “Moderate 45” or "Vigorous 60” the paint bucket functionality of time in zones is turned on.

** Choice: Three different heart zone systems for you to choose from - and we hold the copyrights and US federal patent on them.

** The only app that does heart rate AND step tracking.

This screen display shows five different paint buckets which fill during your workout with the matching color of the zones.

If a bucket is not full then there wasn’t enough time spent in that specific zone and likewise, if the bucket is spilling over, there is too much time spent in that zone.

As your workout progresses, there is a count-down timer below the image of the buck to show the amount of time left until the buck is full.

The goal is to fill each of the buckets without spilling over.

** Hassle free: You don’t have to log in, or upload, or fight a password - rather, Just Go.

Lost history with latest update!

I’ve been usIng HeartZonesTraining for several years and really like it. I just did the latest update and now all my history is gone. It would have been nice to get a heads up that this would happen.

If you’re a software developer working on this plz change it back

I’ve never written a review for an app before but the new changes render HeartZonesTraining borderline unusable. I used heart zones app for two years with no issues. I’ll start with the biggest problems.

I like to see my heart rate on my phone using HeartZonesTraining while I’m running. No brainer, right? They made the HR number much smaller and it’s now a red color instead of white so it’s almost impossible to see if you’re outside.

Also noticed calories burned is now way off. Upon entering height data it says height can’t be less than 18 inches or greater than 37 inches. Have I lost my mind or did we all become workout dwarves?

The UI overall is much worse, data is presented less clearly, and calorie is spelled “calory” which makes me sad.

Please, if you’re a developer and you’re reading this, fix HeartZonesTraining. It used to be quite nice, and now it’s just ghastly.

If fixed I’ll happily take down this one star review and put up a five star review.

God speed

Lots of challenges

I’ve used this for two years and have had multiple issues. Sometimes it won’t read the sensor. Most recently HeartZonesTraining is not recording and storing my data; when going to History, it is blank. Customer Service had restart phone, still same issues. Then they had me uninstall and reinstall HeartZonesTraining , not only am I having the exact same issues, all previous data has been lost as well.
It does not sync with my Garmin watch it Garmin app, so that is another negative.
Considering moving on to a different product.

Good App

Love the graphics. Easy to know exactly what zone you in while exercising. Nice to be able to customize your zones. The FIT points are a interesting feature to summarize how hard you worked.

It would be nice to have weekly summaries and the ability to export your data.

It can be better

I've been using HeartZonesTraining for months. So far I like It as a simple heartbeats monitor. I hope the developer improve It by adding some statistics function to show weekly cumulative result so that I can track my work out especially calories burnt on week/month basis.

Florida triathlete love this app

I use my Blink Armband with HeartZones® training app for every workout and I just joined OrangeTheory fitness and they won’t let me use it so I decided to use it anyway I recommend the same for everyone.

Heart Zones invented Zone Training and Patented it

So easy to use. I like choosing the zone system between Max, ZONING , or patented Threshold zones. HeartZonesTraining has several purposes. Awesome useful data. Physical literacy. Method. Motivational. 40 years of development and sharing all free for you.

Best heart rate monitoring app available

I know longer recommend HeartZonesTraining. The old version was perfect. You could easily read your heart rate, avg heart rate, and elapse time. I have used it for two years and loved it. I can no long use it since I can no longer read those metrics while running. The font is too small. Don’t know why they changed a great app.

History slow

My workouts take days before they show up in app, kinda annoying. Otherwise nice app

Works Well

I use HeartZonesTraining to track the intensity of my workouts. I had no trouble syncing my heart rate monitor to it and it lets me see my heart rate zone in real-time. Overall, I am really pleased with it.

Hard to read

The latest version of HeartZonesTraining changed the text color to red on a black background. This makes it impossible to read the current heart rate from more than a couple of feet away. So trying to monitor your heart rate while riding a stationary bike is impossible.

Amazing product and company!

I’ve been so impressed with the Heart Zones company and their products, especially their software! I use the Blink Armband personally and with my PE students.

Wanted to use it

I really like the design of HeartZonesTraining and the support for multiple zones but I cant use it. It cannot find my Polar H10 even though 10 other apps have had no problem finding it. I also could not find any health app integation a must have feature.

Great if it worked

If the following were fixed this would get 5 stars:

1. It doesn’t display the latest workout in “history”. Selecting the info button under “home” always shows a workout count one more than the number in “history “.

2. When you try to delete a workout from the “history” it randomly chooses a workout to delete, not the one you selected.

3. There is no help, no user guide.

4. Why is there a lap counter button that does nothing useful and is nowhere explained?

5. It would be nice to have a measure of heart rate decline during the first minute after you end a workout.

By the way, I used HeartZonesTraining with a Polar H10 on an iPhone SE running ios 12.01.

Doesn’t work with Keiser M3i

Despite multiple emails with customer service, I have never been able to connect HeartZonesTraining to my Keiser M3i. I really like its features, so wish HeartZonesTraining would be fixed.

Ditto the 5/13 reviewer. Only one star because there is no “0” available. Wonderful product used for 3 years now turned to absolute rubbish.

A little buggy

I use HeartZonesTraining for indoor cycling. In general, HeartZonesTraining works well and I can view my rides in real time. Theoretically, I can review my previous ride outcomes in terms of the amount of time in each zone, number of "points" allocated in each zone, etc. The trouble starts when I try to view my previous rides (HeartZonesTraining shuts off sometimes) or when I attempt to delete previous rides (HeartZonesTraining shuts off ALWAYS!)
I take screen shots of my completed rides so that I have a permanent record thus I would like to have the ability to clear previous rides without having HeartZonesTraining shut down.
I actually uninstalled HeartZonesTraining with the hope that the history would be cleared (and of course it was) but we should not have to resort to such extreme measures.
Still, I use HeartZonesTraining for all rides and have benefited greatly from immediate and documented heart rate feedback.

Works great for my daily exercise

HeartZonesTraining is simple to use and pair with your heart rate monitor. It stays connected without a need to constantly pair a device from day to day. It records every workout in detail and chronological order. The display is much easier to use than other workout apps i've seen. Everything you could ask for in a simple design.
