Update 3/21

I loved this the first year I had it. My friends were “green” (pardon the pun) with envy
Second year towards the and of the season saw glitchy problems and rounds suspended. Watch would dump out and I had to rebuild the round following the match.
Now, in my third year, it’s a complete disaster. I am now deleting ArccosCaddie before every round on both the watch and the phone. It still hangs. The watch loses contact and the time appears on the screen. Especially disappointing because it was the single reason I bought an  watch.
I don’t know what the problem is. If they are not updating because they think iOS 14 is gonna fix all this, but I hope not. Please dig in Arccos because you are very close to a simply game changing product.
Now I will say this. I’ve never in my life worked with a better customer service crew. They are helpful and timely. I would give them alone five stars. I feel bad for them because they really don’t have any answers for everyone having these same issues. Software from Apple and Arccos need to step up their game.

**Update 2021 season**
I just felt a need to update that the system is near flawless now. They did their homework and after two rounds in, the system is working better than it ever had in the past. Shot tracking, gps distance and watch functionality is now working as advertised and I couldn’t be happier. Putts counting correctly and I like the quick feedback after the round ends. Two thumbs up Arccos!

Useful for in round gps, but other features not accurate enough

I bought new clubs last year with the arccos sensors so I figured I might as well try ArccosCaddie. The GPS is useful for getting quick distances and the “plays like” distance is reasonably accurate and useful in making quick club selections. That alone might be worth a one time $100 charge- or whatever the subscription price is. The shot detection is bad enough to make the rest of the related features (handicap, scorecard, etc) mostly useless. At the end of 18 holes its any where from 5- 25 shots off and even less accurate hole by hole. It misses at least 25% of shots so when I check ArccosCaddie for a distance I usually have to adjust the hole I’m playing on because it thinks I’m still playing a previous hole. There would be so much manual adjustment and entry to make things accurate it’s just not worth it. I use the watch app for the GPS, but I just use paper cards to keep score. If ArccosCaddie were a one time purchase, it would be worth it, as an annual subscription, it’s not. It still needs a lot of work- also it eats phone and watch battery to the point that even at 100% charge it’s a toss up whether you’ll make it through a round

Fantastic

Played 4 rounds and I learn something new each time. Be patient and learn how ArccosCaddie functions.
First of all, I wear my iPhone on my belt clip with the microphone/speakers directed at ball. It has never missed a shot. Even tap in putts. It keeps perfect score and moves from hole to hole seamlessly. After round it is fairly easy to edit shots for accuracy of data. Fairways, putts off green, penalty shots etc.
The best hidden feature is the yardage tracking after each shot. Just swipe up from bottom and see how far you are from the last hit. Great for helping you find blind and wayward shots in rough, etc. If you want to take a practice shot during round, leave phone in your cart so it’s not recorded.
Easily see your club yardage averages and longest shots for each club.
I’m really looking forward to a season of accumulated data to tell me the facts of my golf game.

Don’t know who it’s for.

I’m a 12 handicap. Been using this about a year. Wanted to track how far I hit my clubs which ArccosCaddie does reasonably well. During a round, ArccosCaddie frequently misses shots/clubs, especially putts and wedges near the green. It also misses irons from the fairway and sometimes even the driver. Other times it adds shots I didn’t take, especially putts. Have to keep score on paper to double check ArccosCaddie which is annoying and twice the work. Doesn’t make good club recommendations. Shows your score in relation to par which would be fine maybe if you are a single digit handicap and competitive but I just want to see my number. Doesn’t seem to be a way to switch to number view. Hard to edit shot locations to refine the position of the shot because you can’t zoom in close enough to get it right. Doesn’t track shot quality so a sculled shot rates the same as a well hit shot if they go the same distance. Only tracks the first putt distance so if you leave a 30-foot putt 5-feet short but make the 2nd it’s just a 2-putt. No “attaboy “ for making knee knockers. Will be canceling my membership.

New version glitchy with watch

The new version has some good features but the interface with the Apple Watch is a lot worse. Setting up a round takes an age and frequently the watch and phone have sync issues. When you select a round on the watch vs phone it drains the battery extremely quickly, rarely getting past the 14th. When the battery dies the handoff is extremely clunky and most times I haven't been able to use the phone in the last few holes. Now, I only play on the phone in case it dies. When you play on the phone, maybe half the time the watch draws a blank on the yardage and reports it as zero. I've found the only way round this is to reboot the phone and the watch. Obviously this kinda screws up the round and last time I couldn't make them sync until around hole 6 or 7.

On the plus side, shot detection is for sure better. Hardware definitely better, but software defintrky needs a lot of work. Almost tempted to go and buy a rangefinder, messing around with both devices really screws up your concentration and rhythm.

Great app when it works....but I almost threw my phone in a pond the other day!

I think that this is an awesome program and tool, when it works. Over the last 1.5 years it has helped me to develop more consistency with each club and develop a good understanding of how far each club “actually” goes. Lately though it seems that ArccosCaddie is having quite a few issues. I have had to delete the last 2 or 3 rounds that I’ve played because a few holes into the round, the arccos system will lose its way or start missing shots and when you try to edit your shots, to keep up with your round, ArccosCaddie starts flashing and bouncing screens worse than a flash mob at a disco!!

I play golf as a way to de-stress from work and have fun with friends but the last few rounds I have had to shut the system off mid round because I just couldn’t take its added stress anymore!! The other day I contemplated throwing my phone in the pond as I was that frustrated. I really hope they find a way to fix these issues as this could be a really great tool but we are not there yet. Good luck!

Great data, when it works

The club data is awesome, but ArccosCaddie is clunky and glitchy, and it takes FOREVER to start up and even worse when syncing with Apple Watch. More often than not it never is ready for the first hole. You can’t start up ArccosCaddie while you are still warming up because it starts tracking shots. ArccosCaddie eats battery on iPhone XR because it REQUIRES location services to be set to “Always” and my Series 3 watch is dicey for making it through a round. Use a separate GPS or range finder if you don’t want to keep referring to your phone in the event ArccosCaddie drains the watch battery.

Having said all that, I renewed after the 90 day free trial, because of the shot distance/location data that it collects when everything works is eye opening. No longer fooling myself on how far (short) I really hit. We’ll see if they can improve the sync and battery issues over the next year. It won’t be the worst $100 I’ve spent on golf gadgets.

Cool idea - inconsistent execution

I've been using sticks Arccos for about 3 months with my iPhone as my primary sensor. It gets most of my shots, but is about 50/50 on putts. I've used two different putters - one with the superstroke attachment that I paid extra for and another with the regular sensor attached. The superstroke sensor barely works - really disappointed with that. Today I used the Apple watch app to try to track my shots. It was beyond awful. It registered maybe two shots all round. Had a super clunky sync process before and after the round. I don't even know why an Apple watch app was made if it clearly doesn't work. I spent so much time manually adding shots. The caddy feature in ArccosCaddie is another great idea that isn't executed well. Despite all the data points it claims to factor, it doesn't factor wind direction correctly, so it'll recommend too much club on downwind holes and not enough on holes into the wind. I got this system for easy data tracking. It certainly tracks data - but it's far from easy.

Great app with a few issues

Overall ArccosCaddie is good and provides useful info to help you improve at golf. However, there are some errors that make it difficult to fully trust the system. For example, my average score on par 5s for a recent round is not correct. This is something that is easily calculable for me so I can see it is incorrect. It makes me wonder how much of the data that I can’t calculate/confirm is correct. It would be great if ArccosCaddie showed you the strokes gained for each shot you had during your round, instead of just the overalls. I assume they don’t because then you could calculate your overall numbers and see how everything is off. Also, while playing (and after) it would be cool to see your expected shots to hole out (for example, when 150 yards in the fairway it may say your strokes gained expected are 3.2 strokes to hole out)

Great App! One additional feature would be even sweeter!

Great app!! I find the shot detection to be excellent now in 2021. I bought it in late 2019 so didn’t really use it until the 2020 season and it had some issues detecting shots and I couldn’t use my Bluetooth speaker. But with some updates and finally receiving my Link, I can now not only listen to music and use my phone with no problems, but more importantly the shot detection has been near flawless even with the putter. I like data the data on my game, so that’s great and helping me to improve by concentrating on what I need more work on.

But one thing for the developer:
I’m hoping you guys can look into and possibly investigate a collaboration with The Grint app. The Grint is a nice social app for golf that creates what they call a “Golferhood”, allowing you to see your golf buddies and tournament group’s live scores and stats.
I certainly prefer Arccos analytics and stats better but would love for my shots and scores to automatically or with a single “button” push my scores into The Grint app.
I currently have to input manually the information but have become spoiled by Arccos and am accustomed to not having to input scores and data between each hole.

Play better golf!

Been using ArccosCaddie since summer 2020 when I received my cobra clubs. Was skeptical, didn’t like carrying my phone in my pocket for every shot. Bought an Apple Watch at the beginning of this season, and was struggling with it the first couple weeks (getting it to sync rounds and missing shots) but there was an update about 3 weeks ago I’d say and the shot tracking using the watch works flawlessly, I never have to go back in and edit my strokes or anything. The yardage is spot on and matches up exactly to friends’ rangefinders. All I have to do is flip up my wrist and know exactly how to play each shot. Highly recommend to new and veteran golfers. Love what you guys at Arccos are doing! Wish more companies would hop on board.

Worth the money

I’ve been using this for about 3 years now and have enjoyed getting feedback on my game and the caddie feature to help account for wind, slope, etc. A few years ago, I was able to get ArccosCaddie on my iPad but I am no longer able to do this. I would really like to have this feature back as it is nice to be able to review my rounds or view the course layout the day before playing to plan a strategy for holes.

Customer service is great. I played a course a few times prior, but when I went to play it again, they told me it wasn’t mapped. I called in on a Saturday when teeing off and within a couple holes, they had remapped the course and I was able to reload the course and use it going forward.

Increases Golfing Frustrations

ArccosCaddie seems to lose its mind during a round more and more. On a number of occasions now ArccosCaddie gets lost during my round and doesn’t know what hole I’m playing any longer. And manually telling ArccosCaddie what hole you’re on doesn’t seem to correct the issue. When I’m playing golf I prefer to focus on my game, not an annoying app ! And if you want to EDIT a hole, good luck 😉. There’s no zoom in function for a hole and trying to add or correct shots on a relatively small smart phone screen can be another frustrating challenge. In short, if ArccosCaddie didn’t get lost during a round and had a reasonable edit function with zoom it might be better. But combine a malfunctioning app with 6 failed sensors in my first 2 months and I’m beyond frustrated with Arccos. And several of my golf buddies have stopped using ArccosCaddie and sensors as well for the same & other reasons. Sad .....

So much potential but disappointing

ArccosCaddie has the potential to be 5 stars but it continues to disappoint. The new format of strokes gained is way to busy and down right confusing to follow. Why did you change from the old format? It was simple and straight forward and a much better user experience. The play from Apple Watch is glitchy and barely captures my shots. Friends I follow I am unable to see their data. Until Arccos works these bugs out save your money. I will say their customer service is great but their IT team has no clue what they are doing and slow to resolve issues...if they even can. Please fix these bugs and make ArccosCaddie what it can be. Track our putt stats, how many putts in each individual round would be nice to see. Allow users to switch to the view we had before strokes gained was pushed down to us. It’s frustrating with the potential ArccosCaddie has for me to even have to write this.

Best Golf App

I’ve been using ArccosCaddie for 20 rounds now and it is amazing how easy it is to use and how much information it provides. It does take a little bit of time to get used to correcting things on the course but I do it all after every hole and it takes 30 seconds to a minute to correct everything before the next hole. This is easy to do while you wait for someone to take the next shot. But once you get the hang of this it is so cool to see an image of your entire round hole by hole and have all the stats you need including average distance by club. This is definitely worth the money and it’s been a ton of fun.

Good in theory

Got a set of sensors with my new driver I got for the holidays. It also came with a free 3 month trial. To get the sensors sent I had to sign up and activate my free 3 month trial. That was at the end of November. I live in Nebraska and was not able to play till the beginning of March when we took a trip to Arizona. So long and short of it, I didn’t get to play any rounds through the free trial.

I do not like how active on the phone you have to be on every shot. There are too many missed shots not to check after each one and then the time it takes to enter missed shot. It took away from the game, the companionship of the people I’m with and the scenery around me.

Played 10 rounds with it and averaged a score of 97. Played my next 10 rounds without the system and went back to my range finder and averaged a score of 91.5.

There is some great information available, but ensuring accurate information takes way too much time and effort.

Chalk this up to paying $10 a round for the 10 rounds to figure this out. Really wish I didn’t have to start the 3 month subscription in the winter. Would have saved me $100. As I said, it’s a good system in theory, just not for me until there is a better technology between the sensors and the phone.

Good start, but too many issues

The idea is sound, but there are serious issues that have me on the edge of abandoning it. I've used it for 4-5 rounds so far.

The worst issue is that ArccosCaddie disables the use of wireless earbuds. I have earpods now, but I also used powerbeats 3 for one round. All audio output is diverted to phone speakers, EVEN THOUGH THE HEADPHONES ARE CONNECTED. I frankly can't believe Apple allowed ArccosCaddie into the store with this flaw. The play/pause function in the headphones works, but the audio only comes from the phone speakers.

Next, many strokes are not detected, especially putts. Putts are trivial to add or subtract, but regular strokes are not. The Editing function ballows you to edit the strokes on a hole, but it is poorly done. I am an iOS developer so I understand and can figure out a UI. This one is poor. One simple thing is that it prevents you from zooming in enough. This is a purely arbitrary and silly restriction.

Lastly, stats are not displayed well at all. There is not even a straightforward scorecard view of the round!!! The Golfshot app has a much better UI. The sensor functions paired with that app would be an almost ideal solution. I'm so close to going back to it. I actually spend more time editing each hole in Arccos than I do in entering my stats by hand in Golfshot.

Love it

Love my Arccos system. If you are looking for on the course information, wind, distance etc this is a must have. Not only is it great during the round but the information and feedback it gives you after the round is incredible. If you have a Apple Watch it works great with it so that you don’t have to carry your phone in your pocket. I’ve been playing golf for over 35 years, and this is the best thing I’ve bought to help improve my game. If your looking for on course information and post round information this is a must have!!!!

Watch App poor

I’ve been using ArccosCaddie since my wife bought it for me as a gift years ago. It really helped my game and I enjoyed it. I was really excited when they expanded to having the watch work stand alone and it seemed to work for a while. The last two seasons the watch app has really taken a turn for the worse. Lately I can’t even finish a round without it stopping to track my shots. VERY frustrating. When I called support about the issue it seems they are having issues keeping up with Apple’s updates. As a consumer, I hope they fix it soon. I have begun looking into alternatives but hope they get it fixed sooner rather than later. It really is a good product when it works.

By

Almost the right app

I’ve been using Arccos for a year and a half, and I’ve found it to be a great tool to help a new player (2 years) with a high handicap understand the analytics of my clubs. Club recommendations are great, and post game statistics are things I really like to monitor improvements and areas that need work.

However, these things are only good for yourself.

The things ArccosCaddie lacks are big let downs for playing with friends when compared to GolfShot Pro and 18 Birdies. There’s no group scoring. Social sharing is awkward and very limited. Sharing a scoreboard with family and friends requires basically screenshotting the front and back and texting them separately. I really enjoy playing with my friends and it’s always easier to run GolfShot or 18 Birdies side by side with Arccos which drains your battery. Or just use a pencil scorecard.

Finally, although I like the Arccos handicap breakdown, I would still prefer Arccos use the slope scoring method to give me a true GHIN handicap and ultimately a NET and projected score like those other 2 apps do. Arccos says I have a handicap of 16, where everything else says I’m a 19???? I don’t understand why there’s such a difference.

Amazing products & Customer service

I had this product for 3 years now and I can't stress enough how much I like it.
It's just working great, need little to no maintenance, seamless scoring history.
The best part is maybe the customer service. Those guys are so nice, they are willing to spend some time explaining the difference stats, but also really helpful about anything you want to ask. I had one sensor failing, they sent me a new one with 10 batteries, no question asked. WOW! I wish every customer service would be like that. Thanks Arccos!

Bugs need fixing ASAP!!!

ArccosCaddie used to work really well for me. But lately it’s been acting weird. I have the Apple Watch app as well and mid round, they’ll both go haywire. I’ll look at my watch and it’ll a display a jacked up distance such as 3^.. then when I look at my phone, none of my shots have been tracked and it’s telling me I’m a million miles away from the hole. This has happened my last two rounds. If this happens again, I’m probably just gonna chuck Arccos out the window and go with the Garmin tracking system which is very similar to Arccos, but due to Garmin’s worldwide notoriety, I’m sure there’ll be minimal issues.

By

Used to be a leader... starting to lag

I’ve been a fan from the start because of how innovative they were, but they’ve started to get behind. The competitors don’t even need to have a phone near by and offer lifetime tags now. I could do without the lifetime tags but the phone having to be near by is a killer. This might be my last season with them unless they make some changes.

Update: app works well. However, the update that was “coming early in the spring,” to be able to use the system without your phone and just your Apple Watch, never actually came. That was disappointing.

By

Great App! (Edited)

I’d previously reported ArccosCaddie didn’t have the correct tee boxes for my regular golf course, before using ArccosCaddie . I’ve since learned correct tee boxes are irrelevant. After only one round, I’m thrilled by ArccosCaddie , and the system’s deep analysis of so many facets of my game.

I did have to edit several shots, but that’s because I didn’t keep my iPhone in my front pocket. I have pre-ordered the Arccos Link to avoid smart phone placement during shots.

Overall, a fascinating and compelling golf analysis system.

It’s better

Last January I gave it 2 stars because of stability issues and lost holes. I must say the last month or so my experience has been better. It’s not freezing and is picking up all holes. Putting recording seems better as well. Also customer support is very quick to respond and add new Course info. So I am upping the rating as I love my stats and Arccos is doing it for me. Still have some course mapping issues being only black and white. When I get all my courses in colour I’ll give it a 5.

Great app. Love the Apple Watch feature

I love ArccosCaddie . But honestly, I can barely get through 18 holes without it killing my Apple Watch battery (series 4 w/ cellular).

I either need to figure out how to use ArccosCaddie strictly on my phone or maybe try and enable my watch to not keep ArccosCaddie running and disable the “raise to last app in use” when golfing.

I can’t see where the club suggestions are on the phone app when using the sync to watch. Especially after the watch dies on hole 15.

Also, sometimes I can’t get it to accept the shots on a hole and for example will say “5 shots“ instead of “bogey” and the card will be blank at that hole

Update: disabling the shot tracking on the watch through ArccosCaddie has saved my battery life. So using the watch for just yardage and club recommendation gets me through 18 holes with 75% battery left.

Apple Watch battery drain

Seems that the always on GPS with Apple Watch will drain you watch down to less than 10% for a full 18. Couple of others have mentioned the same thing. Still love ArccosCaddie but not sure on using the watch along with phone.

By

Great app

ArccosCaddie is perfect... remember, you need the sensors on the club to work... it tracks all your shots, calculates handicap gives all the distances... I just turn it on and leave it on during the round and it does the rest. May edit a few strokes in the end...

Would love to have a Apple Watch app from across that gives the distance instead of having to pull out the phone each time to look at the distance for the shot.

By

Still using your location even when app is closed

Just received a notification that ARCCOS has been using my location information for the last three days even though I haven’t had ArccosCaddie open in four days. They’ve previously responded that they only use your location when you’re on the course but if that was truly the case, why would their app be accessing my location four days after my last round. If you don’t like companies collecting your data/tracking your movements and having the ability to sell it as they please, DO NOT buy any ARCCOS products

By

Only as good as the app

I love the idea and, when ArccosCaddie works, it’s really cool. Unfortunately, ArccosCaddie crashes all the time. Most of the time, ArccosCaddie won’t open on my phone. The Arccos symbol appears for a minute and then it’s gone. To use ArccosCaddie , I have to delete it, reinstall it and hope it makes it through the round. It’s not really usable and the frustration detracts from my round rather than enhancing it. When they get ArccosCaddie to work, it will be fun. I will post back here once it’s working right. Until then, a two star review reflects hope for what this can be.

Love It!

I absolutely love Arcos! I show it to all my friends, all acquaintance players I Play with as well as all non-golfers at work. I have way better club selection now than I did based on my “smart distance”. I love the elevation, wind help and club selection even though I often argue with my caddie! The caddie is usually right despite my “tin cup” tendencies.

I have no idea how accurate the approach, chipping, putting distances from the hole are and would like to understand how that works.

Some of the course I have played recently have new tee boxes that aren’t in the ap, but I appreciate the difficulty in keeping thousands of course info up to date.

Keep up the good work! I look forward to future enhancements!
