I have loved this game from the minute I downloaded it. I play this game a few times a day and have been known to stay up until wee hours of the morning playing it. I have even gotten 2 of my friends to play this game and they are as addicted as I am to it. I love the graphics. They are just out of this world. They are so detailed. I just can't get enough of this game. Keep up the good work!
Now I can’t get the new update to work! I have been trying for 3 days now and am so sick of this. I have tried to sign in in Facebook and still can’t get in. I just want to work my ranks. And you have to wait forever for the new updates. I am so sick of this! It’s been a long time since I updated my review and added to it. It just stinks that I can’t get in to do any of the help prompts the help page gives. UGH!!!

I still can’t get the download to update! I have played this game for a long time but now I am to the point that I might have to delete it!

Be prepared to either downs a fortune or wait until the game decides to give you what you need to advance. In the hidden object areas, you often have to earn items to solve other puzzles. Somehow, that can not happen several times in a row. Of course you can just buy the item to solve the puzzle... or wait hours for the hidden object area to open again... or just pay to open the area again. I currently have three dif puzzles that can only be solved by items found in one hidden object area. It only opens once every 1/2 hour, and the last three times I played it, none of the needed items appeared. So I used gems to buy the one I was missing, turned in all the rings to the monkey... and didn’t get credit!!
I’ll prob keep playing this just fir the hidden object areas but I’m basically ignoring the rest of the game because it’s too expensive and doesn’t work.

* oops! Spoke too soon. Great graphics, NO story, BORED TO TEARS with repetition that has no real final destination. 😒

Update! I haven't played in Months. Just checked in to see the holiday goodies,and they've made changes to how some of the quest items are obtained, making it easier to access. The new modes (night, mirror) are great, and switch it up enough to be less repetitive, and are done better than many other games I've played. I'm BACK to playing one of my favorites, been able to complete a few tasks in the past day, that I'd been trying previously, and the gave up. Happy!!!

Started out with great fun, but the story line has become nonexistent, characters morph or disappeared with no story to explain, areas I'd hoped would become new to explore just got left for a whole new area of the map to be open, but nothing new for actual rooms to explore. The worst is that sometimes I pop in just to play through all the rooms. Instead of collecting the items I will need, I get "awarded" coins. Then when I play to earn the items I do need, I still can't earn them, and have to wait an hour to play the room again? I'm done! There are so many other games to play. Pretty graphics, but not worth the stress to play the game as game-play. When I need hidden object rooms to'play I might return.

I have bought many games from big fish to include their deluxe version of hidden object games with real plot. This game has a flimsy plot and asks for $15 minimum to buy more gold pieces or gems. And sad part is the $15 may just be enough to get through one stage just to go to another scene which requires a lot more good pieces to unlock. Networking feature stinks as it is not clear how to find Facebook friends who also play to add them. Someone found me on the site who is level 126 while I am merely at level 43 so at least I have one person to trade with. Have not dropped a penny on this game and hope they end this and make either an affordable follow on or sequel to the awakening series.

No overall plot. Game seems to be designed to extract $ from the players as the primary objective. There's no upgrade of the character as you progress - only more difficult and expensive quests with no offset in ability to accomplish them, and no way to get rewards than when you start the game, therefore no sense of accomplishment or actual progress towards a final goal,whatever that might be! The game does work well and the graphics are first rate, which has kept me at it to level 44. Another level opens up after level 45; if nothing significant happens then,l think tI'll quit the game and stay clear of "free" games in the future.
Now at level 76-- guess I'm a gluten for punishment! Some improvement in plot and rewards, but not enough to my way of thinking. Why am I still playing? Partially inertia and familiarity, and also a desire to "beat" this game with a minimum expenditure of $$. Not, unfortunately, to learn how it all turns out, as segments keep getting added faster than I can negotiate them, with no end in sight. Big Fish, please end this game and create a sequel. I feel that a sense of closure would be welcome to all players , and would prompt them to follow their favorite characters in another (not interminable) adventure.

I’m amazed at the number of people who complain about this FREE game. I’ve played to “the end” of the game three different times and have NEVER spent a dime of real money. The game gives you everything you need to play the game. Literally. You do have to work for the items you need but if you join a Facebook group of players you can find friends and can work together to get what you need. Doing the seasonal events is how you get “rich” playing but it is time consuming. I’ve made 2 million coins, thousands of pet food, gems, and airship items by just clearing every private room of every friend, every day. The graphics and music are beautiful and there are tons of achievements to work towards. The game is definitely not for lazy folks but it is an enjoyable quest.

I'd love to complete a 5 part daily quest in the castle challenge but there aren't any----I've only seen one in 2 years....How bad has this game gotten!! Really!! The tournaments are useless for one and what r called updates are just a diversion designed to deplete players of their hard earned inventory.....how about finishing the game for all of us stuck for months on level 71....it's all about greedalso, the latest mini event is a joke.... How foolish would anyone be to complete this! One would have to spend a good number of diamonds to complete this in 48 hours as wel as deplete themselves of a fair portion of their inventory all for a few lousy stamps ...count me out I said this in months ago more to the point now passed it to those people who are spending a lot of money or any money you're missing the point of the game you know you need not spend anything I've gone as far as anybody has gone have amassed millions of coins as well as diamonds and not spend a nickel

My mom got me started on this game. I have played many other games similar to this but this one has me hooked. I love the graphics. So colorful. It does have its times when it becomes a bit monotonous having to repeat the cycle to get the coins you need to move on and open new places. I can't afford to spend money to further my progress. So I will cycle through, sometimes for a few days to get what I need.
I play everyday and don't seem to get very far but I still love the challenge of getting there.
I have run across a couple issues but nothing I can't deal with. The worst one has been on several occasions I have left my game with several 1000's of coins, to come back the next day and only had a couple 100. This is irritating when you work so hard and spend hours accumulating those coins.
Other then that main issue, I love this game.

Before you start playing, I highly recommend that you go to the game’s website and read up on how to play the game. There are also several really good forums you can visit for additional hints and suggestions. In the forums you will also learn more about adding friends and visiting friend’s rooms and so on. Friends are important in this game. As for spending your hard earned money, I’ve been playing this game since it started...which is now 5 years...and I have never made a single purchase. Instead of spending money to advance to new levels, try some patience as you build up coins and diamonds and then, as the game says, use them wisely. It may take a bit longer to advance, but you’ll enjoy the game more as you develop your searching skills. Most importantly, it won’t you cost you any of your hard earned money to play.

I've been playing this game for a while(years), now. I loved the graphics. That's what got me started. Now, with all of the new and unique, little side games, it is even more enjoyable.
The only issue that I can really complain about would be the story line. I get bored. The story doesn't seem to go anywhere. So, my suggestion to you would be....find an ending to one plot and make another little storyline of some kind when you move to....let say another world?!? Maybe win a prize of kind at the end?!? I don't know...just a thought! You guys are awesome on fixing problems very quickly. And you listen to these reviews, too ! Thanks for that. Personally, I think this company is great!
P.S. : please don't just quit on this game , like other games do. Keep on thinking. Your people have imaginations! Keep up the great work.

Love the game. I wish it moved on a little faster in opening new levels though. I could play for hours and the graphics are awesome.
Love how you change the rooms up to keep it interesting. Your graphics are the best. Seems to be moving along faster, now I just need ways to get money faster. New rooms are expensive to open but love, love the game.
I like the mini games and new challenges with finding items. Don't really like when the rooms are blacked out very hard on eyes after one or two rooms. But you make the games very interesting with all the changes. I love the puzzles to solve and trying to guess which hand holds the prize. Don't win very often but enough to make it fun.

The graphics are beautiful, the puzzles are good, the quests are interesting and the seasonal challenges are entertaining. I agree with another comment that as you get to higher levels, the amount of gold coins needed to open new areas is very high. It's also frustrating that every third or fourth item requires a new area to be opened, so you spend more time just trying to get the 10,000 coins needed to open an area. But that being said, it's still a great game and I also like that I can play and advance without having to make in-app purchases. You can find all you need if you're patient.

The latest update has ads that you can choose to see and reduce the time it takes to recharge a HOS. I like this feature. However, recently the ad plays and then the game crashes. I get a white screen and then nothing. Have to close and reopen the game. Pleas fix

The game is fun again!! I love the new changes and additions to the games like the seasonal events. The develops came through! Opportunities to enjoy the game without spending IAPs has returned, so now I can buy gems to hasten my progress, but only if I choose to. Thank you for a wonderful game.

Old review: I used to rate this a five-star game. With this last update, however, I'm not sure I will continue playing (and yes, paying). Although the game is fun, has beautiful graphics and includes a wonderful support system through player gifting, I'm not sure which aspect of the game the developers are trying to eliminate. I can no longer complete the daily quests because I cannot get the items from the HOS scenes. It's very discouraging. I won't delete the game just yet in hopes that BF will adjust these new changes a bit. I refuse to play a game that constantly requires IAPs to progress..like I said, I have purchased gems to speed up my game, but I cannot afford to do so every few days to complete daily quests. I'm so disappointed and saddened by this move; I hope the developers will quickly make some adjustments.

My wife got me on MC, and although a purveyor of strategy games, I played to help her initially then wound up hooked. Good graphics, storyline is ok (I still haven't figured the "notes" in each scene however) but could be more interesting, and the interface is very good. Having to double or triple-back for an item is tedious, but that's part of it. Progress is slow, as the expense of opening new areas is steep, but finding new things is fun. The side events/tasks are fun as well, I especially like snagging the random eggs which pop up during spring. Would be nice to have more themes to go along with Christmas, Halloween and Easter. Also perhaps a cheaper way to get food for the pets. Still I give it a five star, never had a bug, nor crash or difficulties with updates.

This game has some of the best graphics I’ve seen. There is no need to spend money unless you want to go faster in the game. It’s relaxing and you can go at the pace you want. Try to get as many friends as you can (200 seems to be a nice number) because when there are special events, you can visit their rooms and make a lot of coins. You can use the search feature for friends and just start typing names and sending invites. My advice is not to spend all your coins or pet food. Let it accumulate a little or else it can get frustrating. You also don’t need to send the airship every few hours. There is a Facebook group that offers a lot of help and tips. Have fun!

The title says it all! This game keeps you going...wondering what is going to happen next! From magical characters to interesting pets you get to do your bidding. It all is wrapped up with gorgeous avatars and beautiful, scary, and interesting environments, scenery that keeps you looking for new items. Awww! It’s just so much fun and I’m in my 50’s! Believe me, this game is worth any amount of money. Did I say the game players have Facebook pages? This game has bred a staunch group of players that would help anyone trying to begin and learn about the game. Really, the game is simple to learn, HOSs and zoom zones, are just a few parts of the game you will learn to find. C’mon in! The water is fine! You won’t regret purchasing this game.

I’ve seen some complaints about needing to spend money, but other than an initial purchase I made to support game development, I don’t spend money to accrue game diamonds or gold. The side quest puzzles allow you to accrue both along with needed game pieces, while you get gold and objects every time you explore a hidden object scene. Graphics are beautiful, and if you think there’s no plot, you are not paying attention. It does take longer to get to certain goals if you don’t spend real world cash on gold and diamonds, so that takes patience. Your choice, though, if getting through the game more quickly is worth spending money. I enjoy the game immensely without doing so. YMMV

This is the Best of the best. The Night Mode is irritating, annoying, exasperating and discouraging BUT it is essential to the game to make it interesting and challenging. What's a little challenge in a great fascinating engrossing addicting game? The side games make this more interesting specially for jigsaw puzzle lovers. I highly recommend this game but beware: once you start, you may not want to put it down. So, happy gaming everybody!

Today, Dec 8, 2017, another update and more scenes to explore! There are also tasks to complete on the side. And of course jigsaw puzzles. Playing this game on the iPad makes searching for the objects easier.

I absolutely love the graphics, the characters, the missions, but it's beginning to get a little monotonous and very slow. When you don't have enough of the item you need to finish the mission you spend days waiting for one to show up...like the "green tickets". I've spent a fortune playing this game, so how about you guys speeding it up for the people who want to continue forward. When are the other places going to open? Maybe I don't know how to play this game, but it seems to drag on forever before you can ever move to another level. I really like this game, but like I said I have to take a break from it sometimes because it drags on forever.

This is the only game I’ve ever enjoyed for years. The graphics are fantastic and ruin it for all other HO game developers. There are Big Fish game groups, some dedicated to Midnight Castle solely. My favorite is a Midnight Castle group on the Delphi forums. People there have devoted a great deal of time creating a book on steps to take throughout. Some have also dedicated time to type out the entire story. It’s very helpful and fun to read. Developers are quick, when possible, to fix a problem. I wish, as does everyone else, that new levels would come out faster, but even when there is a delay, there is always plenty to do. Love this game!
