surespotencryptedmessenger is lightweight the worst messenger I have used EVER!
I have beta tested many but this one take the Donkey of Them All!

Over the past few days I've tried a number or encrypted messengers including Wickr, telegram, etc., and this is the one I like the best because it supports push notifications, you can set an account name that is not associated with a phone number, you can erase messages from the other parties record, and it's simple to use.

There are some things that need improvement, though.
1) When beginning to type a text, the ipad keyboard often covers over the textbox, so I can't see what I'm writing. I have to tap in and out of the textbox a few times to fix it. This is really annoying!

2) There is a limit to the length of the text, which would mean this review, for example, would not be able to be sent in one text, but I would have to copy and paste different sections of it and send multiple texts, this a crippling feature for me.

3) Although there are push notifications, it doesn't display the beginning of the message, but only that there is a notification.

4) multiple ringtones and backgrounds would be nice, but not vital.

I had lingering problems with my iPhone after repeated restore attempt, and was forced to have it reformatted. Although my iPhone is now usable, when I tried to use the surespot app, I found that I could not use my login credentials, unless I had saved it somewhere on the phone or on Google Drive, which did not happen. As it stands, my only real option is to start from scratch, meaning that unless the next update includes an option to manually enter the login credentials, I'm out of luck. This lack of a feature ruins an otherwise great app, and has to be fixed in the next update.

Me and my friends think surespotencryptedmessenger is top quality. We would just like it if it had a groupchat option so we could all talk securely without having to talk to each-other individually. Thank you.

Awesome app! What's the deal with the keyboard disappearing though? Also, as someone suggested, group chat would be nice to have. Also maybe add options to change notification tones, I like the custom background option too! Main grievance is with the phantom keyboard tho..

I have been using surespotencryptedmessenger for about a year and have never been disappointed. I am a college student and use it frequently with my parents to exchange account and credit card info.

Not as user friendly as THREEMA but this is open source so that is better. Hard to pick but THREEMA still wins as just so much easier to use for now.

Also, it seems very safe :) I think you could get people to use it more if you mention it being cross platform more. I love that it's open source :) great app!

Been using surespotencryptedmessenger for a few days now and I am impressed. Nice to know there are people out there worried about securing data. 5 stars from me, keep up the great work!

Great application. Works great and keeps texts hidden well with the good encryption, and the password you have to enter in order to view your texts.

Excellent app until IOS 8...it freezes and lets you without keyboard while you are texting, you have to close surespotencryptedmessenger and login again in order to continue a conversation, we need a fix to this bug ASAP

It's okay nothing really new beside the change background. I wish it said Read or seen on messages like kik. Idk maybe as it updates I will give it a other try

I've just started using Surespot, but it's working flawlessly, and after personally looking at the open source code I feel surespotencryptedmessenger will do everything it promises. Very happy with the design.

Its a pretty good app in general but it's glitchy, needs an update that the person say they're working on.

When I use this it drops my wifi connection for the phone and shuts off VPN.

A "secure privacy app" wouldn't ask you to upload your private keys to google!
