I love the idea of having data to see whether a train is crowded or not and to socially distance in our current covid world. Unfortunately the parameters are too loose and therefore the data is not helpful. I just took a train from Atlantic terminal to Hamptons that was marked as the lowest level of not busy (one person) and green in terms of crowd size (less than 35 percent capacity). That still meant there was one person in every row on my train. So we were not socially distanced from each other (everyone was less than 6 ft from the next person). The green should be reserved for trains where there’s few enough people to sit every other row and not directly next to anyone. Otherwise this data is useless. My train should have been marked yellow.

App worked great until first business day after Daylight Savings
Now App is crash city.
Drill down on a train a it crashes.
Also says there is no data connection when there is.
What happened, LIRRTrainTime is my go to- it was good when it was working

Nice app that looks good and is easy to use. I think they should allow frequent station pairs so you can quickly see train times. I also wish they’d show you more than 4 train times at a time. If I want to see something further out i have to adjust the time bar instead of just looking further down the list like the OnTime app
by Lxybar
Fast, reliable and some nice features. But, please ... if I say I want to arrive by 9 am don’t start the list with the train that arrives RIGHT before 9 am. It makes more sense to start with the train that arrives before that one and go on with the list of options from there. Also, please return the feature of texting others with the expected time for your train instead of forcing them to download LIRRTrainTime to see the information. 🤔 Otherwise, 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. Saved me from an app I was using before that now wanted a monthly subscription.

Easy to use and I like the saved trips/stations options, it saves time. I use it all the time. Great for up to date itineraries with info on train occupancy levels in each car, delays, bathrooms, track numbers for transfers. However, beware as not all the info is on LIRRTrainTime ! I wish they had some more seasonal info on LIRRTrainTime , like have a symbol for trains that do not allow bikes during summer (!!!) and for express trains vs local trains.

I am a student from Queens who goes to Long Island. LIRRTrainTime is perfect for helping you plan with trips and knowing the train times. However, if it can properly work with slow internet, it would help alot.

Rarely do I write reviews for apps. This is an exception because of how well thought out it is. Every relevant piece of information is literally at your fingertips. Track numbers, times, live train locations, instant track updates (tap the bell icon on your selected route), timetable change notifications... LIRRTrainTime does it all. Whoever the project manager is has really excelled in tuning LIRRTrainTime to the needs of daily commuters. I can’t be the only person who feels this way. Hats off to a job well done. It just keeps getting better and better. Advertise LIRRTrainTime more, and I think it will attract more people to the train who were previously intimidated by the “complexity” of it. Thank you!!!

LIRRTrainTime is very useful now and very intuitive to use. Haptics are used when they should be used, design is very good, and every feature is well made. The mta should redesign all the other apps using in house employees

LIRRTrainTime was useful before but now it’s also more legible and easier to use. The new design feels miles ahead of the previous one.

I am not using this as a computer I’m using this as a train tracking tool because I am a railfan And I like to look at all the info of the trains one thing I feel like they should update is just like on the myLIRR app they should put the type of train next to it without having to click the blue arrow. Example M3 M7 M9. If you are Reading this please do that and it will make me add it up to 10 stars that’s what would make LIRRTrainTime so much better in my opinion and a little bit easier to use. If you are reading this last sentence thank you for reading my review I appreciate your time and if you are MTA please implement that feature thanks again!

Easy to use and you can pick a seat by using the data which tells how full each car is! Plus, you can track the train in real time. Great fun for kids of all ages.

Wonderful app, quick and convenient and ACCURATE!! No nonsense buffering. It actually makes travel more enjoyable because there is no stress about getting fast and correct info.

So as the title is just that
From paper times tables to everyone who has a smart phone can get real time information out to us as we travel the pandemic world.
Thank you LIRR
by RC_102
Thank you MTA LIRR for making LIRRTrainTime PERFECT! The real time location data and information for each train is amazing! Love that it shows you if you’re about to catch a ride on a brand new M9!
by NYDrummer429
You don’t expect much from anything having to do with the MTA. but LIRRTrainTime is actually very good and very reliable. I love their tells you what tracks trains are coming in on and finding schedules it’s super simple.
It’s hard to believe something this good came from the MTA, but it’s a great tool for commuters.
by Mmmmmmmanda
LIRRTrainTime tells you all the information you need. It shows you the track you leave from and arrive at, it shows where exactly the train is on the map and updates for any delays or changes.
by Boots3259
Your service has been outstanding over the last 3 months. I have used the LIRR all different times and have never been disappointed. Even with delays either Mechanical or weather the info has been true. Thank for creating a fine service for me the use daily. It has been a blessing.
by Tpallai99
Ok wow. This is the kind of app we’ve been needing for the LIRR for so long rather than the clunky outdated older one. Super simple yet streamlined interface makes everything seamless and right where you expect it to be. Also the ability to see how FULL each individual train is? Wow. So cool and useful. Amazing job to the developers of this one.

I don’t normally write reviews, but when I do, I’m either really impressed or blatantly venting. LIRRTrainTime is very accurate on timing and I just learned that if you ever need to know what train your on, just click on the train icon and then look up at the number at the corner of the actual train (inside) and boom. Now, you know what cart you’re on. 10/10 recommend.

The all-new design is night and day compared to the old app. New one is so much simpler, cleaner, and faster. It flies. Have yet to try all the new features like in-car seat tracking region but it looks interesting. This is exactly what LIRRTrainTime needed: a fresh coat of paint. The new icon is dope too. Good job MTA. Now do the eTix app too. One suggestion: I’d like to favorite frequently traveled on trips. I.e. penn station to Woodside and vice versa. that way I don’t need to type “from” and “to” every time. Hiding “favorites” in the More tab doesn’t do much for users. The favorites also isn’t a frequently commuted bookmark.
by Joe6592
Although LIRRTrainTime can be used as a useful resource for general scheduling it is unreliable for cancellations, delays and other important updates. The incompetence is unacceptable, especially for those relying on such app when commuting to work on daily basis. The developers of LIRRTrainTime should work on improving the logistics OR notify their customers of their blatant short comings. Although LIRRTrainTime is free it should not come at the cost of the customer. If anyone was contemplating using LIRRTrainTime I would use extreme caution!

LIRRTrainTime is reflective of the nonsense and waste that is the LIRR. It is very glitchy and will click stations by itself, refresh itself and you lose all the information you inputted. It closes itself and doesn't even show you previous trains just to check when your train is arriving. Often it doesn't show the right track and you have to check at the actual station to make sure. Can't the MTA do anything right?
by Mikimozu0
I hate LIRRTrainTime. I really need it to work. Please fix it.
Here’s what I hate:
- It doesn’t remember favorite stations. I only travel between two stations and I “favorite” ☆ them each time. LIRRTrainTime never remembers and I have to search for the stations over and over again!!!
- It doesn’t show accurate real time alerts. 90% of the time the train times are off. You’re better off just going to the station and hoping a train will arrive soon.
by Jlinder1
The MTA ought to be ashamed of themselves for this complete screw-up. If LIRRTrainTime ’s main role is to replace paper schedules, this is a total failure. Why? It’s just simply wrong. The schedule it displays is not, in fact, the schedule at all. Some scheduled trains are not listed, other times provided as departure times are incorrect. The electronic station signs provide accurate information. But, of course, the idea is for riders to know the schedule before arriving at their station. If you’re searching for a more reliable, and feature-rich LIRR mobile app, try the onTime app. Not perfect, but far more accurate, for sure.
by Lcolpa
LIRRTrainTime doesn’t actually give you accurate readings of when the train is coming. Today LIRRTrainTime stated the ronkonkoma was running fine. After leaving my house in the snow, I show up to find out that line isn’t running at all. So why do you need LIRRTrainTime ? You’re better off just getting a regular schedule online, or through paper. They connect fancy things like lyft which is helpful, but we need to actually simply just know if the trains are running or not. It’s that simple. Making your app fancier, won’t necessarily bring more value to the customers if it’s actual purpose isn’t functioning.
by RealCoolGuy_
I use the LIRRTrainTime pretty frequently so I use the ‘star’⭐️ a station to favorite it. The stations that I favorite NEVER stick. The moment I close LIRRTrainTime all the favorites I chose go away and I have to do them over again. It’s annoying to have to type in my stations every single time. Especially when I’m using the exact same station everyday. This needs to be fixed along with the glitchy-ness. LIRRTrainTime does this kind of lag or glitch whenever I go to type in a station.
by Dcgirl98
I use this a lot but oftentimes it will say a train is "on time" or "left the station" when in fact it's running late.
Right now, the 9:05 train is late. LIRRTrainTime has it as "left the station" while here at the station we can see how late it is.
Yes, I am at the station already but it would be useful if LIRRTrainTime actually reported what you see on the station boards.
by Penny301
Moderately useful - provides the train schedule and updates on major disruptions. Would be extremely useful if the train status times were ever accurate...
by YYLevy
This clean and simple app is easy to use and better than the newer MY MTA app. I would give it 5 stars if they would show the entire train route (ie before AND after your selected trip). I’d like to know if my station is the 7th or 2nd stop on the route. It makes a big difference as to whether or not I can get a seat and ultimately whether or not I will want to take that particular scheduled train. PLEASE ADD THAT FEATURE -even if it’s greyed out.

LIRRTrainTime does what it says and gives the right time of when a train is coming in and on what platform as well as updates fast (if you click update) to any changes that may of happen. It also can give you an offline schedule if you don't have connect to the internet. The only big problem I had is it never saves my favorites.
by LongNicknameGoesHere
Great app, I use it whenever I'm traveling on a slightly different schedule than usual and need to know my options. Just two pieces of feedback:
1. Having the pop up about trains being rescheduled EVERY time I open LIRRTrainTime is kind of overkill. When there's construction all summer long and I have seen this message before - I just want to find my train info, I wish there would be some kind of "don't show this again" option. Or at least the message could be a banner at the top instead of an in-your-face, urgent looking full-screen message.
2. One great feature to add would be track information for trains. When I'm going to be running for a train, or if I'm not in a place where I can hear the station announcements and need to get to the right track, it would be super helpful to be able to check LIRRTrainTime and find that information.

The LIRR Train Time application is a resourceful aid for those who use the Long Island Rail Road daily or even for those who use it sparingly as it provides information for all aspects of the service. From arrival times to station information, from ticket prices to service alerts, to the latest news to trip planners LIRRTrainTime has it covered. The design while a bit cluttered due to the enormous amount of information provided does not hamper ease of use. Users of the Metro North Train Time application can expect the same UI design so there is no learning curve. LIRRTrainTime is even more beneficial now due to the recent service changes and disruptions the LIRR is going through and will be going through for the next couple of months. Users can just check LIRRTrainTime to see what stations are affected, and see what connecting services can be used to avoid them. Regular users of the LIRR service need to have this application above all other s as you get a complete view and guide of the transit experience.

I'm usually quite critical of the way apps function but I seem to think LIRRTrainTime gets the job done really well. Sometimes I'd miss trains because the times on the timetable is confusing to read but with LIRRTrainTime I can see exactly when my train is coming, the number of stops, and when I arrive. I enjoy LIRRTrainTime a lot so kudos to you MTA.
by CyberData4
..that's about what I expect from the MTA.
I'm giving LIRRTrainTime 5 stars just to encourage you guys updating more often. Like maybe twice a year instead of once a year.
A man paying hundreds of dollars a month for train tickets can dream....

So basically read all the reviews from all the other app users I just hope that all these complaints were answered I use LIRR from time to time so I barely have complaints cause I drive everywhere but answer your customers man! Lol that is all
