The best premium all-in-one camera app for iOS.

The title says it all, really. This is the best premium/paid all-in-one camera app for iOS. Are there some apps that might have more features than this one? Technically, sure that’s correct. Will 99% of users ever use then? No way. If you’re looking for something specific, odds are pretty good that you’ll find exactly what you need within this application’s abundance of features.

Best of all, everything just works. The UI is fantastic and can easily be figured out by the most novice of users; the controls are intuitive while not being obstructive or annoying, there’s no ads, subscriptions or constant pop-up reminders asking you to rate ProCam8 or write a review, and the developer of this wonderful piece of software is one of maybe two or three (tops) individual developers who not only has created what I consider to be a “category-leading” app, but who also is quite dedicated to consistently pushing out new features, bug fixes and responding to user help requests.

Do not hesitate for a minute to get ProCam8! It is the first one I install when setting up a new iPhone for someone and is worth every penny!

Long term value + saves bucket list photo.

I bought ProCam8 years ago and unlike so many other apps, it is still being updated and add immense improvements to the newest iPhone. All without having to pay for an upgrade in over 4 years of use and iPhone hardware upgrades.
That said, I almost wish I could pay for it again. What drove me to write this review was that the built in iOS camera app WOULD NOT focus as my plane was flying near Mt. Everest en route to Kathmandu. Can you imagine the frustration of the camera thinking I wanted to take photos of the scratches on the airplane window and not the worlds highest peak?!
Procam to the rescue! I opened it up and switched to manual focus. The magnified center with peak detection allowed me to precisely, carefully, and quickly focus directly on the Himalayan peaks resulting in me not missing one of the most memorable “out the window” shots of my lifetime.
There are many other examples where having full control has saved the shot, but this one by itself was worth the purchase.
Thank you developers of Procam for saving my “bucket list” shot!

Great for shooting DSLR kind of photos

Native camera app is almost fully automatic. It is great in most scenarios. But it has restrains under certain situation like low ambient light. That’s where ProCam8 shines. I just came back from a vacation in Greece. I took many photos during dinner, where I wanted to avoid using flash for the sake of image quality and other guests. ProCam8 gave me complete control over shutter speed, ISO and depth to make it possible. I hand-held my iPhone, so shutter speed had to be faster than 1/8 at least. It would be impossible to control this with native app I think.
Another great example is controlling depth. I take photos of small insects and plants. Native camera app would always mess up the depth with auto focusing. (I don’t blame it btw. It’s called auto focusing after all.😅) While ProCam8 has like laser coloring to mark out the objects in focus. It is precise enough for my use. I found it actually more convenient than using my DSRL for such close-up shots.
All in all, a very nice free app gives me DSLR camera experience!

Great app, minor inconsistencies.

I love ProCam8. It is the best camera that I have used on iPhone (not that I have tried many, I haven’t needed to since this one). I use it for both photography as well as recording videos.
My single complaint stems from an inconsistency within the video framing guides and the available video cropping aspect ratios. ProCam8 has an awesome feature where it will let you place in guides when you are recording videos to show you where the top and bottom of wider screen aspect ratios are so you can frame properly. ProCam8 also has a built in feature that lets you crop videos to aspect ratio presets after you record them. Unfortunately the framing guides and the cropping presets do not share the same aspect ratios. The only overlapping ratios are 1:1, 4:3, and 2.35:1. There are so many aspect ratios in the framing guides that are not available in the cropping options, so I cannot see exactly what my framing looks like until I get to a PC. If I could choose only one aspect ratio to add, it would be 2:1, but I believe that there should be perfect parody between both options.
ProCam8 is an easy 5 star if this were to be addressed, but to me it is worth docking 2 whole stars until then.

Low Spec Features Compared to Rest

It’s crazy how ProCam8 “CameraPixels” another premium - similar to yours - camera app has focus bracketing AND bracketing in general for HDR photo taking, up to 15 photos of different exposures. Why does this - you - advertise as the best, but seem have zero intention to implement these features. Also camera pixels has the ability to LOCK the shutter speed in video to achieve and actual 180 shutter angle when recording video. Allowing ISO to change dynamically and extremely fast. You - ProcCam 4, and 5 - only allow the user to set the shutter Manuel - in video -to achieve the desired shutter angle, even worse the iso can’t be set to AUTO when shutter speed is in Manuel - in video mode -. So when recording, this desired setup only allows the user to change iso Manuel. Creating pretty UN-Smooth exposition change / gradation when recording. Also, please implement a more Manuel long exposure, instead of always blowing iso outa wack when detecting a really dark scene. AND PLEASE ALLOW 4K MAX video to be uploaded to google drive / similar services when pressing that share button.

Use It Every Day

Awesome for capturing doccuments, but the OCR doesn’t do very good for store receipts. I’m guessing that the latest iPhone doesn’t have the power to do very good OCR on small text that isn’t crisp. But I did get a little better results by making the receipt text a little larger. I took three 5 foot high filing cabinets and used it to copy all of the documents, and moved them into folders (albums) in my Photos folder, and it’s all backed up on the iCloud for a couple bucks per month, with an additional backup on a 512G USB memory stick. Then I tossed the filing cabinet in the trash :) If I ever need to alter one, ProCam8 allows moving it back and doing an OCR. I spent 20 years designing databases, so I am also creating a database app that is 100 times better than the iPhone Photos app, with the ability to use multiple folder levels and naming and searching capability for the picture documents. So I will be moving all of the documents to the database when I am done. The bottom line is that I love this ScannerPro app.

Not saving videos! Don’t use this app!

Edit

I’ve been using ProCam8 for over a year now, originally it started to not take photos when trying to take one, which was a quick fix of just trying to take a few more and hope it actually takes one. It’s been doing the same with video also, but what used to be easy to notice that the screen would go dark when trying to record video, now it does not change at all and has the appearance that it is actively recording, it counts the time and has red text. When you finish your video and check for it, it’s not there. This issue didn’t happen for about 6+ months, it was great that the developers seemed to have fixed it, but it just did it to me again on an extremely important drawing tutorial video I was recording for my business. I recorded a 2.5 hour segment of drawing footage that is now lost and I literally have to do my whole drawing again! The tutorial has to be a complete tutorial so it doesn’t matter that I had 1 hour of early footage, 2.5 hours is gone! This is the last straw for me, I am never going to use ProCam8 again. What a waste of money, spend your money on an app that actually works and doesn’t cost you 3+ hours of hard work you can’t get back!

Only great when it actually works

I’m beside myself. I practice amateur astronomy and smartphone astrophotography. And twice now, using two different iPhones (XR and now 13 Pro Max), your app has failed me. I like to shoot the International Space Station through my telescope. This requires lots of careful planning and time-consuming setup. And it’s all for nothing because your app is unreliable. I am so disappointed. Specifically, I use video mode with manual controls. I hit record, and I know it’s recording because I can see the time counter ticking away, and once the space station passes over, I hit the stop button. And then the video is just nowhere. It doesn’t save to ProCam8 or to my phone’s camera roll. I even did a test video of 1.5 minutes tonight, before the big show was about to start. That video saved flawlessly. But the 1-min video that actually captured the station (because I saw it in the live view) didn’t save at all. I am so done with this. This moment was going to be my saving grace after a long crappy day. Instead, my day was only made worse. If it only happened once, I could write it off as a fluke. But now I’ve been screwed twice. This is incredibly upsetting and there’s just no reason for it

Best camera app ever!

I was hesitant to buy a camera app since there are several really great free ones, but this one is so worth the small amount of money! Love ProCam8 so much! Professional features, in-app editing of photos and videos (yes, videos!) with filters or manual editing, RAW and other formats, zooming for both photos and videos (yes, video zoom!), real time sound meter for videoing, overexposure indicator, online user manual that explains things easily even for beginners, so many things, so much more! I’d put ProCam8 up against any other camera app! Until iPhones come out with movable a aperture, ProCam8 is the next best thing and makes the absolute most of what the iPhone can do. I get compliments all the time about my photos, and when people borrow my phone to take a photo for me, they immediately comment on how much better it is than their own app. You can tell such a difference! Again, it’s totally worth getting ProCam8! I can’t say enough good things about it!

Can’t export Timelapse

So, I recently purchased ProCam8 with the intent of recording 4K timelapses. Then, stupidly, I decided to purchase the 4K Max option for an addition price. So I leave my phone outside, taking a picture every 5 seconds, for about 45 minutes. This would equate to around a 9 minute video at 4K 60fps, which would be a few GB of storage. I currently have nearly 20 GB of storage, so there should be no issue. Then I go to export the timelapse to my camera roll, and a loading circle flashes for half a second, and then nothing else happens. I can’t even export the video, so this was a waste of $10.

Edit: I still don’t feel like the normal 4K option does anything except for upscaling. I took two similar timelapses using the native camera and ProCam, and the native app did a much better job with the quality. The “4k” timelapse had a terrible amount of noise. Also, when I exported my 4K Max timelapse had terrible quality when I transferred it to my Mac. It looked worse than 720p. Any tips for fixing that? It’s possible that I just don’t understand your app interface, so I’ll keep trying to figure it out.

A Must Have For All Your Photo/Video Needs

While the pre-installed Camera app for the iPhone is alright, the features on it are quite limited for my needs. With the ProCam 8 app, however, it’s capable of doing so much more that not only have I pretty much left left the Camera app behind, I have significantly reduced the use of my DLSR camera altogether.

Taking nighttime photos is just amazing, and as for videos, recording it in 4K HDR at 24fps make my concert videos look like it was professionally shot. If there are any critiques to be made, it would be 1) ProCam8 is pretty slow at taking photos and saving them, and 2) there should be built-in assistance that would make it easier for users to navigate and change settings.

Download ProCam8 , and I highly recommend spending the extra money for the in-app purchases, especially if you want professional quality photo and video taking capabilities.

I like it a lot.

I have only used it a couple hours when I was prompted to write a review. So far, things have been very good. I would like to see a couple of tweaks. When you are looking at the photos you’ve taken, apparently one can’t just single tap on the camera icon to go back to taking photos. This is in place elsewhere as a safety feature which I love, but it is not necessary here. Also if you are viewing a photo and go outside of ProCam8 and delete that photo, ProCam8 will crash. No big deal, but it would be nice if ProCam8 handled that more elegantly. Above all though, I’d love to have the option of making the grid lines black. I take most of my photos with a white background and the white grid lines are almost useless under such circumstances. All in all, I am very happy, well worth the price. If I could just turn the grid lines black or at least a dark color….

Nice but a fatal bug...

Its a really good app for youtubers like me but theres one bad bug... every time I record a video and use the pause button a huge chunk goes missing, then when i record another video, a chunk from that gets cut off and is replaced by the missing chunk from the video before. For example, i record a video at the beach and in the middle of it, I pause the video to go to the ice cream shop and then unpause it, then i eat some ice cream and then pause it to go to a surf shop. When I'm done recording the video and i look at it, the part where i eat the ice cream vanishes into thin air. Then next, i record myself at my house and then, I pause the video to go to my pc and then unpause it and play Fortnite. The part where I play Fortnite goes missing, then me eating ice cream at the beach replaces it. Please fix quick

Worst app I have ever Used

I looked for a professional application that has many features, I did not mind paying any money, I just wanted a camera that had 240 FPS recording, adjusting exposure in real time, something like a Nikon camera without the expensive price. ProCam8 had many features and I was satisfied with it, however, I have given it one star since the recording feature decides to save my recording whenever it wants to, even if I have recorded 25 minutes of material in which I cannot record again, it decides to break on me and not save at all on my phone, it has done that countless times and it upsets me incredibly. I never write reviews however this is an exception. I have to stop the video every 30 seconds to one minute so I’m sure it saves, but even then, it doesn’t either, it’s as if ProCam8 decides whether or not it wants to save the material I am recording. Please, fix your recording feature, and I will change my review on ProCam8, while your at it, remove the Pro out of ProCam since professional cameras really don’t decide when it wants to save something or not.

Not a fan

The interface is overwhelming and often the tips don't make sense or maybe are wrong? For example it says push the AE-L button but I see no such button on the interface. This happened with most functions and a few "buttons" ProCam8 said to push but I didn't see them. After 5 minutes of use I requested a refund.

You really have to be into fussing with settings to use this type of app over the standard stock camera. At end of the day the hardware is still the same. ProCam8 doesn't make such a difference it's worth the hassle (and likely missing your shot due to it being slower cause your messing with all these settings) over just point and shoot when using a smartphone camera.

I gave it 2 stars because folks seem to enjoy it who read all the manuals and tutorials on how to use it. But honestly the popup tips need work and accuracy. how about a starter screen that circles all these "buttons" or have the popup tips highlight these invisible buttons.

Not happy with this at all

There are a lot of (confusing) buttons on ProCam8 if you are not a super savvy video type person. There are also a lot of limitations on what you can or cannot do with ProCam8. For instance, it seems to not allow selfie mode in 4K recording, which is not spelled out in the information I researched about ProCam8 before I made the purchase. I do a lot of self-recording and expected a paid app to allow me the ability to record in whichever direction I choose and at the speed/resolution of my choice. Sorta a waste of money. Very disappointing. While I appreciate the response from the developer, it doesn’t change my opinion about ProCam8 . Clarity is key when marketing a product to consumers. If things had been more clear, I probably would not have made the purchase. Not because ProCam is a bad product, but rather just not the product for my needs. Seems like many others are enjoying ProCam8 , so maybe it just means my experience is one of the rare unpleasant ones.

Best photo/vid editing app available

I've tried tons of apps since my first iPhone in 2012. This is by far the best. Love the iPad version and love this version. Worth the $. The best way to learn its power is to spend time playing with ProCam8 ...especially on a weekend when the weather forces you to entertain yourself with indoor activities. You’ll become hooked like I did.

To the developers: outstanding job with creating AND maintaining ProCam8. The updates never leave me without my fave solo pastime. The ability to choose the front facing camera option AND locking it as a preference would be useful. It’s a minor annoyance to toggle it back every time you change between video and photo for example. Besides that tiny personal preference I have no other criticism.

Again, thanks for a great app!

Time lapse function doesn’t work with wide angle camera on the iPhone 11 Pro Max

I have contacted the company many times to explain the bug with ProCam8 and they have told me that there’s no problem.
Here’s the issue:
Time lapse function won’t Work with wide angle camera on the iPhone 11 Pro Max. I proved my point by installing ProCam8 in 3 different iPhone 11 Pro Max. If you select any other camera (for a time lapse) it’ll work, but if you pick the wide angle camera for a time lapse; the moment you hit record ProCam8 quits.
The company keeps telling me that they cannot replicate the problem so it appears to me that they’re lying to me.
I want to know if other iPhone 11 pro Max users are having the same issue. Please speak up.

Not worry $9.99

Played around with it for about 10 mins. Interface is cluttered. It’s hard to shift to different adjustments, especially if you have somewhat fat fingers like me. I can press to select an adjustment 10 times before it finally moves to it. In-app editing features are suboptimal. It seem to have no simple manual control of aperture, shutter speed and ISO like what I had hoped. I took 2 selfies, one in this and one in the apple app, edited them in each app and the Apple photo was all around significantly better, other than you can adjust zoom in ProCam8 to get a less lens distorted selfie. You get some useless extra grids to overlay beyond the standard and some long exposure features. The long exposure features are about the only interesting thing and I don’t shoot those enough to make it worth $9.99. I’d skip it though at least it is not a subscription like my previous camera app went to.

Awful!!!!!! Don’t waste your $$$$

I don’t know what app these other reviewers are using but it’s not the same as what I have .... ProCam8 is extremely confusing because there are so many different settings & there is no sort of tutorial or how to use the settings of any kind. If you’re a professional photographer who knows all of these settings then I’m sure this is great, but it was extremely hard to use. I thought I had finally figured out enough of the settings that I could use it for my Etsy shop photos. I spent about 3 hours taking hundreds of pictures that all looked fantastic on my screen as I was shooting everything then I sat down to review the shots & about 96% of them were completely unusable because they were incredibly dark & made the colors look wrong. None of the setting on ProCam8 were actually used on the pictures & now I get to spend another 3 hrs redoing everything I just did! I want a refund for ProCam8!!!!!! It’s AWFUL!!!!!!
