USHandicap: USGA Handicap Reviews

Do NOT… I repeat DO NOT purchase any sort of subscription to USHandicap or from their website. I purchased it hoping to get a handicap set up and verified but NEVER received it for days.. weeks. I sent in multiple requests to their customer support and NO response whatsoever.

The reason I wanted my handicap was for an upcoming tournament, so after the tournament was over I cancelled my subscription (still no handicap posted so what did it matter anyway?)

I then filed a report with my card company because I never got the services I paid for , and they sent me back with a report saying my request was denied because there are no cancellation policies for GolfNet/ us handicap.

Okay… but the reason I cancelled and asked for a refund is because I NEVER got the handicap or index in the first place.

But, low and behold I got the handicap when the card company sent me a print out from GolfNet .. coincidence? I think not. No response from anyone at GolfNet until they got a chargeback notice from my card company and only then did they care and do something about it.

Absolute scam, no customer support or results. Do NOT buy anything from this rubbish company. .

This is a great way to save your rounds and statistics. The only thing I wish is that it established a GHIN number but I realize now that has to be done through a club. As far as keeping my rounds and seeing my trends, this has a whole lot of capability. The other good thing about it is it will link other apps you may have (if I enter on GolfNet for instance) and will grab that score and put it in your Handicap tracker on here. I’m very happy being assured that all my scores are safe, especially because I am trying to practice and get back to a competitive level, so this helps me majorly in that aspect also. As far as a free app to store your scores, it can’t imagine it would ever get any better. I may even upgrade my service to their pay option considering I am so pleased with what they offer for free!

...Easily. The new HBH interface is really much more difficult to use than it was last year. I appreciate some of the changes, but the actual entry of HBH stats is really frustrating especially if you’re doing it mid round.

I know this is a golf app and everything, but you really made this worse by changing it.

Update: home page much better, but the HBH entry remains much more cumbersome than the previous version (which was really great.) Half of the HBH entry page is consumed by categories (score, drive direction, putts, etc) which leaves only the right half of the screen to scroll through selections on a single line. So if you hit one right, you have to scroll through the options to see it, but you’ll likely end up clicking another option that the scrolling menu then snaps to which undoes all of your scrolling efforts.

To even get to this HBH entry you must first click a small box on a digital scorecard, adding another step to the process.

Honestly, is there anyway to revert back to the old version? I’m serious. I just paid to continue my service, but USHandicap is just too frustrating to use much longer. I know they can fix the issues, because it was really a great layout before.

I did a simple Google search looking for a GHIN handicap for a tournament I wanted to play in. This was the first site to pop up (clearly paying for that key word to show up on the list) signed up, payed the $30, entered scores and given a handicap #(very similar to a GHIN)

Try to look myself up on the GHIN system and low and behold...not there. Digging thru the US handicap website I come to learn it’s not affiliated with the GHIN system however claim to be a USGA certified handicap.

AVOID spending your money here. The Grint offers the same USGA certified handicap however USHandicap is 1000x better.

When I went to cancel my account 20 minutes after purchasing I was told I have to reach out to the support team. Finally got an email that said “Your account has been cancelled, but no refund can be processed in this situation” with no reason behind that policy, other than “because we said so”

They clearly know that the customers they sign up are looking for something else, otherwise why wouldn’t they refund the $30 and avoid a negative review on a bad customer experience.

One last warning: DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON USHandicap

I purchased this initially in March 2021 and everything worked fine, handicap was generated and able to be referenced by others. With this success, I allowed USHandicap to renew in 2022. Suddenly upon my renewal USHandicap claims that there is no longer a club in my area that would allow my handicap to be calculated. Despite reverting to the free version, USHandicap still charged me for the full year. I have sent 3 different support requests to the company that have all been ignored. I am now out the cash charged by USHandicap, as well as the fees to register in the GHIN as a result of this apps incompetence.

THIS COMPANY IS JUST CASHING THE RENEWAL MONEY WITHOUT PROVIDING THE ADVERTISED SERVICE! Pay the extra for the GHIN to avoid this con

USHandicap appears completely unattended. It promised to calculate a handicap after at least three 18 hole rounds or combination of 18 and 9 hole rounds and does not do it. It assigned me to a non compliant club in Texas and I’m in Missouri. The club manager does not respond to messages. I have sent two tickets over the past two weeks for app support and received no reply. They promise reply in two days. I wish there was a way to get my money back. I have moved on to another app that is very highly rated. I should have paid better attention to the ratings. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I like many other people on this review board paid for the 3 year subscription ($30) as it seemed like a great deal. I had no problems the first 6 months using USHandicap and then my handicap suddenly disappeared. I have reached out multiple times to their support center through USHandicap and email with no response. It appears I’m out my $30 plus whatever I’ll have to pay to get a handicap with a reputable company. Disappointed is not a strong enough word to describe USHandicap.

I wish I read the other reviews because they are spot on. No customer service. No refund even after I contacted customer service less than 10 minutes after I signed up (I didn’t realize it wasn’t GHIN). Don’t be fooled that it pops up as the first add in google search. I submitted a support request immediately on 5/27 and only got a response today on 6/23 just saying “it has been cancelled”. No refund. No customer support. No other options. Total scam for people looking for a legit handicap.

this is the first review I’ve ever written about anything because I usually just don’t feel like taking the time, but I feel like this it’s my duty to help others avoid this trap. I’ve requested to cancel my membership 3 times in the past month since my renewal is coming up and there is no response from customer support whatsoever. There’s no option to take your credit card off. It’s a complete trap and scam-this is downright illegal.

This is not what I thought it was. Is not affiliated with GHIN which is what I was looking for.

They make it impossible to cancel your subscription. I have been reaching out to support for almost a year now with no feedback and cannot figure out how to cancel. It should not be that hard.

I am at a point where I’m seriously considering just canceling the credit card it’s on and getting a new one.

I paid the $69 for 3 years of service but am getting no support from the service. The course information is erroneous and I tried on multiple occasions to get it fixed by sending in trouble tickets and trying to call. The trouble tickets are ignored and the phone number posted on the web site doesn’t work. I made a mistake by not using GHIN. I feel like I’ve been scammed!

Signed up and paid the annual fee. Then realized that it was no good to get me into the tournament I was trying to play in. Went thru their process of cancellation (no refunds) so that I wouldn’t get charged again in a year. Buyer beware - lesson learned.

Only to see 1 year later another non-refundable annual charge added to my cc.

Went thru app again to see why they ignored my previous cancellation. Had to call AMEX and put a vendor block on this vendor so as not to get charged again.

Terrible experience- read all reviews. I ordered too fast trying to get a handicap # for a last minute entry into a tournament - it has now cost me $60 to never use it.

Wish I could rate a zero star.

I downloaded this and paid for the subscription thinking it was the ghin app (clearly not paying as much attention to details as I should). Am I the only person stupid enough to do that or are they purposely misleading people? After I’ve paid for a year subscription is it at least worth using? Anyone willing to explain to me the difference between this one and the ghin app?

Paid 2020 annual fee in April and App has worked fine until couple of weeks ago when and all of a sudden I try to log in and it tells me my username/email didn’t exist. Sent several messages to support with no response. I am thinking I am out my fee and USHandicap no longer works for me, very frustrating.

Wish I could do 0 stars. Don’t buy USHandicap. They don’t cancel your subscription when you ask and it’s impossible to speak to anyone on the “customer support” team. I’ve been trying to cancel my subscription for over a month and haven’t heard a response from any of my multiple cancel requests.

This used to be a great app with a simple interface and intuitive navigation. Selecting your course is now clunky and you cannot easily get rid of the pre-populated course. You can no longer see what scores are being used in your handicap. Calculating a course handicap requires hunting through menus. I’d like to go back to the old version of USHandicap .

Apple needs to dump them immediately . The first year was fine but then I had a auto renewed subscription apple took my money but I’m only allowed the free portion of their site . The same thing happened to the last person that reviewed this site . Do not use USHandicap. I’ve sent them numerous emails and they have not responded .

Used this for 1 year and was satisfied. Found it impossible to cancel as I was moving to a GHIN handicap. Let the buyer beware... they automatically renew and will NOT refund your money once they run the charge. Months later I still don’t know if they’ve canceled me going forward. Frustrating and unethical

Don’t buy it. It will tell you no refunds. After you purchase, it will tell you that in order to get a “useable” handicap, you need to upgrade in USHandicap . Still trying to figure out how to cancel. Nothing is easy on USHandicap. I paid $70 just to cancel it with no choice for getting a refund.

I made the mistake of downloading USHandicap and paying for 3 years. I was not happy with USHandicap so I reached out to the developer. I can get no response! Also, there are no refunds. I only hope people will read the reviews before downloading this terrible app that has no service.

I do not like USHandicap since the changes were made. Before, I could click on attest my score and my friends would show up and I could just click on a name. Now I have to type in a name and email address..not all change is good 😡

USHandicap is underwhelming and has continued to get worse. They don’t allow you to go back and edit a manually entered score. Further customer service is non existent and they don’t reply to any emails. I’ll be cancelling and switching to another app.

Missing my home course for starters. I’ve tried several and this is the worst by far. Crashes. Overly simplistic. I had it for a year and they automatically renewed my subscription. I noticed right away. Asked for a refund but denied. So I have a useless app for another year. Get the GRINT app!!! Don’t waste your money here

App was solid enough last year, worked OK. Made updates this year, now impossible to use. 1/2 the courses I play (well known) aren’t in USHandicap . The Grint is free and 100x better. Will be canceling my annual renewal. Still wondering how they ever saw these updates as user friendly.

As a matter of fact I am unable to even open the newest updated app on my iPhone. I have use USHandicap for almost 8 years and I am now disappointed with it.
GHIN is much better and more stable.

USHandicap survives by making it extremely difficult to cancel. Received no notice of charge and when I disputed they said I couldn’t get a refund because I didn’t cancel before renewal. Recommend the Grint, much cheaper and USGA certified handicap.

What I would consider a key feature, being able to search golf courses to then enter a score, does not work on a mobile app.

Don’t bother asking questions. They take your payment, shoot you an automated welcome and then won’t engage/answer questions. No GHIN. No customer service. No value. No good! Far better tracking apps out there.

USHandicap (more features using Internet version) is far superior to the Chicago district golf association membership and handicapping services. Love that it gives you trending handicap numbers between revision dates. I really like the hole by hole stats it gives you as well. Great value for the services!

Would like to be able to add the equipment choice when adding scores on the mobile app. This way I wouldn't need to edit my score on my computer later and it would limit club choice when doing HBH score.

Love USHandicap I’ve been using it for about 4 years now. I love that you can do Hole by Hole stats like score, FIR, GIR, putts, penalties, driving distance, driving accuracy, putting distance. The stats that USHandicap records is awesome! However, I am a little disappointed that the developers have not kept up with PGA statistics. For example strokes gained putting, strokes gained chipping, strokes gained tee to green. These are the new statistics everyone is using and it gives amateurs a better since of what areas they need improvement. I hope they look to change to this type is statistical data.
