Contact Cleanup Reviews

I had very high hopes for ContactCleanup after reading all of the positive reviews. My issue was that I had (obviously) duplicate listings after adding contacts from different sources- I.e. FB, LinkedIn, manual entry, etc. When I used ContactCleanup to recognize and merge duplicate contacts, it erased many contacts completely (strangely, it seemed to target some of the people I most frequently communicate with), and for others, my texts would be labeled “Maybe: [contact name],” even after I would go into the contact and manually correct the contact. ContactCleanup purports to allow you to undo and changes made, but this feature did not work either. I wrote an email to their help department (of course they do not provide any phone number) regarding my issue and distress over paying even the small amount for the full version, and received ZERO response. Thankfully I had backups of my phone on iCloud, and was able to restore my contacts. Interestingly, I had to go back several days before I purchased the product in order to get a fairly correct list of my contacts, and EVEN THEN, some contacts that I knew were in my phone prior to the use of this product did not come through. My concern is that I happened to notice this because I was actively engaged with a couple of the contacts at present. I have no idea how many others were affected or corrupted by ContactCleanup. Please beware of using this product and spending $ on it.

What is offered here, would be useful and Save me a lot of time. However, you go through this process of getting ready to merge everything and then a pop-up comes up wanting you to join the “Premium” Service. So you invest time, which ends up being wasted and less you want to pay. It would be nice if developers were honest and put their product out there honestly. I think they would be surprised that if people knew up front with the deal was they would do just as good. These people got One star only because I couldn’t give him zero. Stay away from these scammers. If you want to do it manually, you wouldn’t of wasted time to download ContactCleanup in the first place. WASTE OF TIME!!!!!

First of all, beware, there is NOTHING ContactCleanup will do until you pay. It is not a free app.

Purchased this a couple weeks ago to clean up duplicates. Initially it seemed to have done so, but denuded the contacts' names.
Example: started getting texts from telephone numbers without any of the names attached.

After repealing the duplicate merge, and performing the back up -- things are still pretty funky. For some reason now the phone is mistaking one person from another (closely-related) person, for instance if I ask Siri to send a text to "Joseph Alexander", it will get the text ready but have it addressed to a separate contact, "Harold Alexander".

Now mysteriously also can't find certain of my contacts' details. If I try to send an email to "Joe Jones" it will say "I don't have email address for Joel Jones", but in contacts, there it is.

This has never happened before using ContactCleanup and on doing it. Something screwed up.

I had sent an email to the creator of ContactCleanup , but I have not received any reply.

I should have spent more for a better app.

I paid for the in-app purchase and then used this on one of my family member iPhones (where I am the head member and pay for all apps) to cleanup their contacts list and it worked great.

I then Tried it on my phone but ContactCleanup wanted me to pay for in app purchases again which is ridiculous. ContactCleanup stated it was family sharing but it isn't for in-app purchases and it's misleading.

Apple needs to make ContactCleanup developer state that it's not for family sharing as in-apps purchases can't be shared. If an app is free to download family sharing shouldn't matter as its free. I feel app developers are taking advantage of family sharing and downgrading their apps to free by removing capabilities and adding them as in-app purchases that can't be shared.

Which is fine but it needs to be clearly communicated by Apple that the in-app purchase aren't part of family sharing.

If I knew ahead of time or it was categorized clearly I wouldn't have bought.

ContactCleanup was quite useful as I had over 5000 contacts I needed to delete, I had tried to delete them one by one but that got tiring quick so I downloaded ContactCleanup once I heard it would let you delete them much faster. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of five is that once I “finished” ContactCleanup told me I had only about 30 contacts, which were the ones I wanted to keep, but once I went back to my regular apple app for contacts, there were still so many more, I refreshed ContactCleanup and instead of 30 I had 1200. So I had to do that all over again, but other than that and the constant nagging for a review, it’s pretty okay.

I was looking for questions asked by users who may have had the same questions I did. Instead it’s a general how to question with a tech manual answer. If you’ve never done the recommended response before, there’s no way to know how to figure find the answer on ContactCleanup . I just wanted to merge, and delete to come up with a master list of contacts then save that as my main list of contacts. Still trying to figure that last part out. For now, I have duplicate lists under 2 different apps. UGH!!!

Paid for the pro version. Still nags for a review though - gets to be very annoying. I have a total of 5 sources of contacts (wish iOS would give you option of which source you want to add new contacts like it does with calendar entries) and I’ve already asked the developer to give a “friendly” name to the Accounts within ContactCleanup - such as “Gmail”, “Yahoo”, “iCloud” or otherwise - would make the move between accounts easier and faster and make ContactCleanup for intuitive in the process.

Otherwise, once you get used to the flow and nuances of ContactCleanup , it does what you want it to do. Luckily, it even comes with a built-in backup/restore which was handy when I accidentally deleted 80 contacts when I thought it was a single contact!

Hoping the developer keeps working on ContactCleanup, it is good and could be great!

I don’t know what the other people here may have experienced. Perhaps the older versions had some issues. But ContactCleanup works exactly as promised. I had over a thousand linkedIn contacts added to my phone book by mistake and none of them had any email or telephone numbers. According to apple, outlook and LinkedIn I had to identify and remove them manually which was an impossible task. With this program I got rid of all the contacts with no phone numbers in minutes instead of days. As a bonus I merged all the duplicates and ..... Well worth the 1.99$ spent. Thank you, thank you and thank you.

I had over 350 contacts that have pulled up over the years. The Apple contact app is so poorly thought out and as we all know how annoying it can be to click thru every contact and scroll down to the bottom to hit deleted.

It was so nice to with a tap of a button import my contacts, auto merge duplicates, and bulk delete over 200 contacts which all automatically updated to my contact app! It feels so good to have these organized and was so EASY! I really feel like I somehow cheated ContactCleanup company for such a great free service. Incredible.

I have had the non-pro version for a couple of years and I’ve been pleased. I had somehow duplicated my entire contact list and ended up with a few thousands contacts I was manually consolidating. This really helped me save hours of work. I’ve kept ContactCleanup because I like to keep my contacts tidy. ContactCleanup can quickly tell you duplicate phone numbers and email addresses. A real time saver. The only thing it doesn’t do well is transfer titles well when you merge contacts.

Thank HEAVENS I found ContactCleanup!! A few years ago I believe my son synced his Facebook to my iPad and so I’ve had almost 700 contacts of people I don’t know and have tried getting rid of them.

This made it super easy and quick to delete. I didn’t use it for merging my contacts but that’s not too difficult to do once you get rid of the excess. So, I definitely recommend this for anyone who has more than a few contacts that need to be deleted. Maybe one day Apple will make it easier without The need for an app!!

So smart and so well thought. Easy and safe. You will think this is the author writing this but it isn't. Best $1.99 i have ever spent. Apple should buy their company and hire the developers to fix all of the iOS products. Literally took 3700 contacts from skype whatsapp phone and gmail and consolidated them into a real 1500 unique contacts in seconds. You can also manually merge by clicking on multiple contacts and click merge. Asks u to back up and emails to u from the get go as well. Great ap.

If you have ever tried to delete contacts the "old fashioned" way using the iOS contact app, then you'll really appreciate what ContactCleanup does. It uploads your contacts to their app in a flash, then it allows you to delete them almost as fast as they uploaded. Also has a duplicate contact checker as well which comes in handy to. Does exactly what it says it does and does it well. A strong 4 1/2 stars out of 5 for these guys. Thank you! Time-saver!

I upgraded to the iPhone 7 and somehow my contacts (only a mere 1400+) duplicated!!! I was angry that my carrier (leaving them anonymous) couldn't find a quick cure to erase what I am sure was their fault anyway!!

So where did I turn - to my 'computer guru' daughter - of course. She found your app, and what was going to take me a month or more to delete one by one, I had done in a couple hours!!

I love the younger generation as technology has left me in the dust!!

ContactCleanup provides many options as to how to eliminate the duplicates. I chose the manual way as I still had to link several contacts to get all the info on one contact. It gave me the opportunity to view them on an as needed basis.

As I was deleting the duplicates I was able to delete my old contacts, so by the time I was completely finished I had less than 700 real contacts - which I consider a job well done.

Sometimes smart phones are too smart for their own good! Thank goodness for your app to dumb them down a little so my generation can feel a little superior to technology!!

I got an iPad that I my mom used a while ago and when I switched to my iCloud account it carried over all the contacts so I was left with all the contacts on my phone too. She had like 8,000 contacts from animal clinics because she works in the veterinary field and I couldn’t delete them all and all the other apps I tried you have to pay to delete over 10 at a time. ContactCleanup is so useful and quick to use

iPhone default contacts app doesn't provide a function to delete or manage several contacts at once. You cannot even select more than one contact. However ContactCleanup enables you to do that. Also ContactCleanup allows you to back up your contacts through email, which is much more convenient than iCloud backup, which often not compatible with lower version ios and slow. I definitely recommend ContactCleanup. Good job developers!!

I have 8000+ contacts and I know ContactCleanup helped a great deal.

There is a common problem in iPhone that automatically saves new contacts directly to the iPhone itself even when it is not selected nor enabled. Mind you, this does not save to the iCloud even if it were active and selected. I set my default contact list to my gmail account yet my iPhone save new contacts directly to the iPhone.

ContactCleanup allows you to move contacts from your iPhone contacts to any other account you choose.

Additionally you are able to search for contacts that have an “Exact Duplicate”, “Same Name”, “Duplicate Data Within Contact”, “Company”, “Job Title”,, “Email Domain”, “Phone”, “No Name”, “No Phone“ , “No Email“ , “No Address“ , and “No Phone Number“ When ContactCleanup finds these similarities, you can choose to delete selected duplicates, and / or merge them. You can even search on selected missing fields.

The searches happen within seconds!

Just in my case alone, ContactCleanup found 120 contacts with the same phone number. So I merged a few of them.

ContactCleanup is very intuitive and easy to use. You can even send a backup of any and all your contacts via email to you or others. It is that robust.

I had so many duplicate contacts from imported from another app. I could never just scroll through my contacts to find someone. I couldn’t go through each to delete because there were thousands. I tried multiple contact clean up apps and they would all freeze and not work for how many I had. ContactCleanup WORKED! 🙌🏻 And it worked fast with no glitches! Highly recommend!!!

This is one of the best apps I have ever used!! I was given this phone by my mom and she had like 1000 contacts. I started deleting them each one by on until I got to like 300 contacts. That took me over a month. Finally, I got tired of that and I decided to do some research. I found videos on how to delete ALL. Then, I looked at how to delete several contacts at once and a whole bunch of apps popped up. I wasn't sure I believed ContactCleanup soi downloaded it for a try. Then, I did the action. This is the part that surprised me. In less than a minute, I deleted those contacts I didn't need to get me down to 62!!! I am so excited about ContactCleanup. Download it!!! And sorry for spelling mistakes. I am only using one finger to type this so try to read it as if it was typed properly.

Did exactly what I needed, merged my contact list from 6 accounts, allowed me to merge the data from all accounts into one single contact. For example. 3 account had the contact name and cell but the other 3 accounts had a combination of emails, addresses and birthdays until I merged. After the merge, I have 1 contact with all of their info and I don’t see their name 6 times in my contact list. Also, it’s free, I have used two paid apps at my job that don’t do as well as this. The only kicker is that it’s best that the owner does this and not their IT guy or friend. Only you know what information you need.

Finally an app that does exactly what it says it's going to do! I had contacts in triplicate on my iPhone 7. I also had numbers that were previously saved in my contacts that were no longer showing up by name. Neither Verizon nor Apple couldn't figure it out. Got this particular app because of all the good reviews. It merged info & cleared out all the duplicates. Easily backed up my contacts prior to cleaning via email. It was easy & quick & I'd highly recommend!
