Cleanup Duplicate Contacts Reviews

I had previously purchased CleanupDuplicateContacts for my iPhone. Although it was a few years ago, I'm still using the same device and the same AppStore account. But I had to pay again (after the analysis) to be able to merge the contacts lists. That's a shame.
Update: I reached out to them last year and they suggested a solution which didn’t work. I tried to de-dupe again now and the same issue persists. It asks me to update. Now, however, it says I already purchased and that I could update for free. When I accepted the free update though, it failed. This has nothing to do with my payment details or AppStore. Something with CleanupDuplicateContacts is not clean.

I gave it one extra star because I was able to actually get rid of hundreds of duplicate contacts. However, I had assumed that those duplicates might actually merge into one contact so if there was data in one CV and not in another, they would combine missing data into a more comprehensive, complete contact. But no, instead it took just one (random?) duplicate and dropped all others. I have so many contacts and I’m not sure where they were added from: iPhone, Google, business emails, random website additions… who knows, but I don’t have time to go through over 1500 contacts and clean up every one of them. That’s why I wanted an app like this. I would love to give this a 5 star rating if you were able to restore my lost contacts and then merge all data from one name into one full and complete CV, then go ahead and remove the duplicates. I must say, I completely lost some names altogether as well. I’m not sure how some name’s duplicates were ALL considered dupes and were then ALL removed. 🤷🏻‍♂️ please do an update where contacts from multiple sources will be merged into one. Thanks.

Not the best experience with this powerful app. It did reduce my contacts from 10,000 to 6,000 but it did not resolve many duplicate entries. I could live with that outcome. However, it failed for me by eliminating, or failing to transfer, a great number of my group addresses... not completing all entries in a group and leaving a significant number of them totally blank. I figure it will take some serious reconstituting using past emails to get these groups restored for my administrative, teaching and business needs. If you use CleanupDuplicateContacts, be sure to pay attention to backing up your group contacts first.

I don’t know what the deal is with CleanupDuplicateContacts, but I can merge, then re-merge and it will have a discrepancy of over 100 more contacts than the merge I did just 5 minutes earlier. It does have me concerned that I’m possibly having contacts merged into other people. I haven’t figured it out yet. It does seem to be working, except for the fact that every time I re-merge on a new day, I’ve had a total over 100 contacts in variation. It shouldn’t be doing this.
I’m sorry but I can’t give CleanupDuplicateContacts a good Grade if it’s going to be doing this sort of janky nonsense.

Then I used it. Flawless so far! Due to some sync issue with my iPhone contacts and Outlook, my contacts were duplicating over and over. Running CleanupDuplicateContacts saved me time trying clean it up manually.

Still need to figure out why this is happening, but CleanupDuplicateContacts will help keep things in order.

This was way too easy. I’ve been dreaded fixing that EVERY SINGLE contact in my phone had at least 2-4 duplicates. When it was somebody’s birthday, it was 3 others duplicate birthdays as well. When I told Siri to call someone, I’d have to confirm out of other duplicates. SO annoying.

This has been the most helpful, impressive, and fastest app I have ever used. Well done team. 👏🏼

I have multiple email accounts so some of my contacts were only on iCloud, some were in Google and some on MS Exchange. After upgrading my Mac OS my contact’s started duplicating to over 70,000 on iCloud. CleanupDuplicateContacts helped save the day. Once I got everything cleaned up in my phone contacts, I made a backup using CleanupDuplicateContacts. Next I turned off contacts on everything and deleted all contacts from my phone and Mac. Then I restored the backup, turned on only Google and ran one more sweep to remove duplicates. It synced just right on all my devices including Gmail online! Finally!

Does exactly what it says, even the free version.

If you have separate contact listings from different sources: iCloud, Google, Facebook etc. this finds them and puts them all in your ICloud. You don't need to go through all your contacts and "link" anyone listing to another.

No more multiple contacts for the same person!

I had years and years of contacts across multiple iterations of iPhones and Androids. Kudos to the developer for providing the option to dedupe across my multiple combined sources, i.e. Google, iCloud, etc. Lots of flexibility in settings for tweeking the dupe criteria. And being able to review the merge candidates before committing was a big plus. Very happy with the outcome. The result is a contact list that is free of dupes and about 75% shorter.

Fixed my problem instantly! For some reason most of my contacts doubled, which is a pain when it comes to scrolling through your contacts and having to sift to find the right one. Luckily, I searched my problem and CleanupDuplicateContacts came up. Super easy to operate- very clear instructions, and solved the problem. Couldn’t ask for anything more!

CleanupDuplicateContacts really does work! I was skeptical, but it cleaned up all my duplicate names, emails, numbers, and contacts in just a few minutes! Over the many years of changing phones, stuff being saved to the cloud, etc I had a real mess. Not any longer! It’s easy to use, even for a non-technology person. Highly recommend!

I’ve had to restore my contacts a couple times - if you have an iPhone - you probably have had to do it a time ir two yourself- and trust me, CleanupDuplicateContacts is invaluable! I’ve spent countless hours fixing my contacts and knew there had to had to be a better way. Well here it is. Definitely recommend. Try it, you’ll love it.

I had an issue with multiple versions of contacts I had synced with Exchange. I tried to remove duplicates through the iPhone app. After trying this for 5 minutes I realized this would be a long and painful process. I saw a review of CleanupDuplicateContacts and have it a try. Unbelievably easy and lightweight. Apple should buy your app and incorporate it into their underwhelming contacts app. Excellent App!

I have been struggling with having duplicate contacts on my phone since I set up my new work computer. I saw a ton of articles and videos advising me to copy my contacts on my computer and Manual merge the duplicates. WHO HAS THE TIME?! I finally found CleanupDuplicateContacts and it took care of this problem in 10 seconds!! If you’re having an issue with duplicates, look no future, this is CleanupDuplicateContacts for you!

I was skeptical, but a few reviews said that it did and that it doesn’t go off selling your info to everyone, not to mention Apple’s update that lets you know when your privacy’s being compromised- even when you do it yourself.

Somehow all my contacts were duplicated, but CleanupDuplicateContacts showed me how many and which ones we duplicated, allowed me to merge the duplicates, and even let me sort through and fix the accidental duplicates that I made for contacts with new numbers, or people with the same name that I hadn’t better identified.

All in all- it took about five minutes for me to fix all of my contact issues with CleanupDuplicateContacts; if you need your contacts cleaned up, just try this, you won’t regret it.

I’ve been pulling my hair out about having as many as 6 duplicate contact entries in my iPhone. Google and Apple couldn’t provide help. Within minutes of downloading CleanupDuplicateContacts the problem is fixed! Just make sure you back up your contacts initially. I went from over 1000 contacts to just 110! I’d still like to know how all the duplicates happened but mostly I’m glad CleanupDuplicateContacts fixed it.

I almost NEVER leave app reviews but this one deserves an infinite amount of praise. I have been trying to manually clean up my duplicate contacts for over a year now because all the other similar apps are garbage. I’m not even kidding when I say that I just completed a year long project in less than 10 minutes while I was sitting on the throne taking my 12pm daily deuce.

You’d have to be ridiculously stupid to not use CleanupDuplicateContacts if you have duplicate contact issues.

I was trying to clean up my contacts through iCloud for simplicity as I had over 1800 of them. Somehow they got duplicated and after hours going through the now close to 4000 and removing everything unwanted I found that my work did not transfer to my phone. E-gads! So I got CleanupDuplicateContacts and within a very short time I was able to clean up my phone (down to 435 contacts now!) and get everything synced across all my devices. Great product. For me a life saver. Thank you.

I’ve been struggling with how absolutely horrible iCloud contact duplication for no apparent reason since day 1. My phone has been a mess of 5 of even my own name forever. 2 bucks and a button press got rid of ~2500 duplicate contacts in my phone in about 5 seconds. Some folks have written the thing about consent to share your contacts with their solution - that’s how it works, so whatever. Oddly enough the version of CleanupDuplicateContacts I’m using errors out when it tries to backup my contacts so I guess I won twice! Best $2 I’ve ever spent.

So most dedupe apps require some payment to be effective. I was happy this did not but curious as to why. Are my contacts uploaded? Spammed? Etc? So I gave it a try, contacts was the only permission it asked for and I ran the whole thing in airplane mode. It worked like a charm. This was a simple off the cuff security test but the speed and effectiveness earned my respect. I did turn off “AI dedupe” because it wasn’t clear to me how it worked or why it was needed. However even without that it worked great. Based on all of this I would do business with this company in the future.

I’ve been a bit frustrated with multiple duplicates on my phone and don’t have the time or motivation to go through contact by contact reconciling them. I was hoping this would be the solution. Unfortunately CleanupDuplicateContacts falls short of its promises. It did reconcile about half of my duplicates but the other half is still there. If it was a free app I’d most likely give it a few stars for at least cutting down the work for me but when I pay I expect it to work.

With the new pay version, CleanupDuplicateContacts is no longer merging partial matches. I’ve run it several times now, and even though the partial matches are identified, they still exist after the “merge”. CleanupDuplicateContacts used to function perfectly, however, this is not my experience with the new version. This is particularly frustrating since I was required to pay for the new version so that CleanupDuplicateContacts would still function.

Make sure you read the privacy policy. This stood out to me and I decided not to use CleanupDuplicateContacts as a result.

I bought the upgrade in CleanupDuplicateContacts thinking it would do the job. It does not. The owners are aware of this and have been trying to fix the issue for months (5+). Below is the latest response from them:
“we just crosschecked with our concerned team and unfortunately, I am sorry to inform you that are still working on this ongoing issue and I am not able to comment on any time frame wherein it may be resolved.”

Perhaps CleanupDuplicateContacts used to work. The scanning function appears to go through all the contacts and displays the contact name. When given the option to review suggested merges it looks like it has identified all the contacts that should be merged but after CleanupDuplicateContacts “executes” the merge nothing happens.

Perhaps something in the latest iOS has broken functionality. If that is the case users should not be charged for a function that does not work.

Well it didn’t get all of the duplicate contracts. I have family contract that some how Apple has promoted some people including myself to have 6-9 different multiples contacts. I almost said ‘duplicates’. what I’m saying is that I haven’t notice any contracts that have been illuminated. I was told that out of the ~5800 contacts, they found several hundred. I still see several thousand more needing to be merged... ARG!

It definitely merges contacts and is easy to use, but it will only find contacts with exact matches. It claims it finds partial matches, but idk what that is based on because there were easily 20 contacts with different names same phone number it didn’t identify. I didn’t mind the $2 until I found a free app that cleaned up 30 more “partial contacts” after using this one.

CleanupDuplicateContacts worked to clean up all my contacts that iCloud somehow duplicated over and over. I tried three other apps and they all required you to pay for "premium" but this one is free and works just as well!

It's puzzling why this isn't possible without an app for iPhones. CleanupDuplicateContacts saved me when I kept switching back and forth from blackberry to iPhone. I ended up with 4x duplicates for each number because I went back and forth 4 times..

Best app I’ve tried. Actually the only app that actually worked :). I even went to the Verizon store & they told me I had to go into each of my contacts and delete the duplicates one by one. I had over 1K contacts. That seemed pretty crazy, then I found this awesome app & it only cost $1.99. Well worth the $.
