Doesn’t work on iPad

I want to love ClickMetronome. I’ve seen many drummers and friends using it on their laptops and it looks great. I downloaded it for my iPad and have been unable to use it. The interface is mostly obscured by a large black frame. Only a narrow bit of the UI is visible in the center of the screen. Settings or any buttons are inaccessible. Tried a number of things to get access to the full screen, but ultimately had to uninstall it.

Lost rhythm

I have been using ClickMetronome for years and have been loving it. It’s very easy to adjust to the right beat and easy to work up with however lately and it might be the iPhone 15 and possibly the 16 I don’t know. But I start to get a double click on the last beat of a series so for example on a 3/4, I’m hearing an additional beat after the three and it even flashes twice. Not sure if they changed the clock in the hardware, but something’s happening would appreciate a fix.

Exactly what I was looking for until it wasn’t.

Make no mistake, ClickMetronome was about to become my go-to metronome app to be used exclusively on my watch via haptic feedback as I use two hands to play my instrument. Well, if you have an Apple Watch Series 4 or less, forget it. The haptic only works if the display is on. This means you get adjust all of your settings every time you want to use this OR you get to have a maximum of 70 seconds (max for Apple Watch) before you don’t get a choice and it shuts off. Fix the haptic so that it works with the screen off or find another solution and I’ll bump this to 5 stars. Until then, time to uninstall and keep searching.

Update: Received a surprisingly professional and uncommonly empathetic and humble response from the developer. For that reason alone, I’ll bump the rating to 3 stars. Still doesn’t fix the issue and still doesn’t prevent others from wasting their time (add something that states that ClickMetronome cannot do this to the description and save us all some time) but if that issue were addressed, I’d definitely come back.

Unnecessarily buggy interface.

The “click wheel” interface of ClickMetronome drives me insane. When trying to adjust the tempo, the virtual “click wheel” behaves like a real click wheel— meaning, it’s virtually impossible to easily land on your desired tempo. It’s always over- or undershooting it a bit. It’s a VIRTUAL wheel. There’s no benefit to it doing this. It ONLY creates time consuming frustration, as you’re forced to caaaarefully adjust the stupid virtual wheel to your desired tempo. It’s maddening.

Great metronome, missing a few things

This is a great metronome app and is currently my go to for practicing. It needs a couple of things updated though. 1. It needs to have a mode to flash the tempo AND show you the count at the same time. 2. It really should auto rotate depending on the orientation of your iPad. The iPad can Lock Screen rotation so you can use that to prevent rotation if needed. 3. Not updated in 4 years? Makes me wonder how long it will be around.

Almost perfect!

I’ve loved ClickMetronome for the many years I’ve used it. My ONLY complaint is that there isn’t an iPad version. When I load the iPhone version, it works fine in portrait, but in landscape, it goes as if I’m holding my iPad upside down. If there’s an iPad version I’m missing, I’ll have to be on the lookout for it!

Visual counting metronome

I have been looking for a metronome where you can see the numbers. This is the only one I found. Thank you!

I wish there were more options for different sounds. We use to have an app that did that, but as the phone system platform updated, the designer didn’t keep up. So I am glad I found ClickMetronome

Works well

This is pretty good once I got over the Apple Watch limitation…you’d think watchOS 7 on a watch6 could let you set haptics per app for display off use. I like the remote control feature from the Apple Watch to the phone app. Still have to create my first set to see how that works. That may bump me up to a 5. One workaround for the watch limitation that I thought of…esp when playing sets…use an upper arm holder(like people had been using for exercise/running for the phone. Between the set list and remote control it might just solve the problem of the watchOS haptic limitation

The Best

This is a hidden gem. I’m a teacher and this is the best metronome I’ve ever had on a phone/iPad. It’s so smooth and with all the options quickly accessible. I’ve been using it for 8 months now. It’s funny even my students got so used to it that when I use a different metronome they ask me to “change to the other one”. Thanks Mike!

Just perfect

It’s a metronome. Do you want a metronome? This is it. Do you want something else? This is not. It’s a metronome. Also it has a decent Apple Watch app that I love for when I’m practicing.

Update: I noticed it lags a bit and I checked ClickMetronome page and lo and behold, the developer is already on it! I would give it 6 stars if I could

New Favorite Metronome Wish I Found it Sooner

I’ve used this metronome for a day and it has become my favorite right now. Display is intuitive and I love the numbers flashing.

I wish there was a way when I make set lists I can save a tempo and “load” in the tempo so I don’t have to dial it in when switching songs. That is the only gripe I have so far. Unless I have to pay for it and don’t know it.

But other than that so far so good.

Great metronome

Iphone app : this by itself is very well laid out and works great. I like how all the settings disappear when not in use, very clean. It is very feature rich as well and I don’t see myself needing anything that isn’t already there.

Apple Watch app : very clean as well. It is much more feature rich than other apps that provide compatibility with watch. The metronome is loud enough to use by itself if you wish. I also use the remote for to control the iPhone metronome. Saves you some time from picking up and unlocking the phone to adjust your settings. The haptic only works with always on screen but that’s not the developer’s issue, it is a Apple Watch limitation.

Overall I am really impressed and pleased with this metronome. Thank you for the awesome and FREE app.

Great!

As a relatively new musician, this fulfills all my needs. I do have one problem with Click. I find changing the tempo difficult when I want to go up or down at anything between the numbers (i.e. from 60 to 65) I have to fight the metronome to get it to stay on the number I choose. I wish I could tap in the number rather than slide the "dial".

Best metronome ever!

This is a simple but powerful metronome with a super clean interface that counts it out with numbers. I love this thing. All the basic adjustments that you need and did I mention that it counted out with numbers? Why don't more metronomes do this? So much fluffery and unnecessary garbage on most other metronomes. This is a great app!

Great visual metronome!

I really like the design and UI of ClickMetronome . There are plenty of options to customize the metronome for how you need it.

For me, I use the visual metronome setting: with the hand moving back and forth, with the numbers (count) at the bottom, and the screen flashing yellow. The yellow flash isn’t too bright either.

Simply the best

Click is the best iOS metronome app. It's feature-rich, yet presents a simple and clean interface.

I have just two notes: First, a metronome clicks when the beam passes through vertical, not at the ends of the swing as Click depicts.

Second, I'd appreciate beat subdivisions for half note and hole note. Yes, I know that I can just set the rate to half or quarter speed, but it's fiddly or impossible to hit the exact number. Yet, half and hole subdivisions are useful when mastering a piece and weaning oneself off the metronome for performance.

Incredibly slick, useful, and great looking app

It’s very hard to believe that ClickMetronome is free, but it’s just what I wanted—a visual metronome. The blue pointer is easy to see, with my phone on my music stand, and it’s really elegant in its simplicity. There are many, many options, most of which I may never use, but it’s easy and fun to try them. The color-wheel control is attractive and intuitive, and it disappears when not needed. Couldn’t be more pleased with it.

Update—Ryan keeps making ClickMetronome even better! The display remains simple but he’s added text to remind you of the bpms and time signature. Still amazed it’s free.

Best Metronome App I’ve found

Great for live performances! Very clean and easy to use interface. The developers were smart enough to make a big target for starting and stopping the metronome. Playlists are easy but I wish you could add songs to a library and then assign them to multiple playlists.

Perfect

Great work - watch app works like a charm. iPhone app is easy to read and easy to set. Can you make the watch tap in sync with the phone's setting (basically the opposite of the current remote function) - don't want to be on stage dicking with my watch, but love the tap on my wrist. Thanks for your work!

Clean and clever display, easy to pick up and use

I needed a metronome on my watch to give time to the accompanist for an audition. This nailed it! The phone app is brilliant too! Tap out the beat and it will tell you the tempo. Very easy wheel to set all your specifics and clear display of the beats, with/ without a flash or metronome swing. Thank you for making this. Definitely sharing with others.
