$8 a week for a metronome?!

As much as the developer’s response is that you can use the limited version without paying for MetronomePro , it DOES NOT let you continue without FIRST agreeing to the subscription, nor was it easy to unsubscribe. Perhaps there should be more clear instructions in OR two separate versions. But my guess is that this is done on purpose so that they can get some money for it. There are plenty of apps that allow you to use the free version only without forcing you through to a subscription and if it was that big of a concern to them, it would have been fixed. At that price, I’ll buy myself a little pocket metronome/tuner. Too bad too, because the metronome itself isn’t bad.

By

Trash.

7 dollars a week for a metronome app. Thats the 1 star. I would have easy purchased it for 99 cents, but these stupid subscriptions for the stupidest of apps are asinine.

Update to developers response: The free versions is irritating and problem-some. Even with these so called features mentioned, $8 A WEEK is delusional. Thats almost $40 a month for a metronome with a few extras. Come on. Netflix with access to TV shows and movies, is $12 a month. Any other person would easy pay 99 cents or even $1.99 for working app. Horrible decision. You all should really listen to the reviews cause no one cares if you can still use a limited version with intrusive adverts and constant signup pop ups.

How to use the free limited version:

So you CAN use the limited version. There is a blurb that says “try the limited version” right above the subscription button at the end of the slideshow it gives you when you first open MetronomePro . The blurb is in really tiny gray font which makes it very hard to see. All the flashiness of the other buttons doesn’t help either. A suggestion I have is to make the blurb a different color (like bright blue) and to make it bigger too. I really hope this helps, or clears up the some of the confusion.

MetronomePro really isn’t bad, it just needs some re-designing. :)

Dishonest and Disgusting Attempt to Scam

It’s absolute garbage. I don’t mean the metronome app and it’s function, I mean because of the degeneracy of the developers in trying to scam less observant people out of a few dollars. The dev’s intentionally chose the color palette at the initial subscription screen to trick the user into thinking that the only way to use MetronomePro is by starting a free trial by hiding the option to surpass the screen and using the free version. Same as those trash ads you get that try to hide the “cancel” or “X” prompt to close out of it. Absolutely despicable and disgusting that this is the route they go to make money from their sub-par app. If I could select 0 stars, I would

Meh...

Made it through all 36 of the “Tap The Beat” loops pretty quick. The preview excited me to have fun with more than just 4/4 beats. There were a few “off beat” styles but not what I expected. Some of the beats were definitely 1/2 or 2x what they should have been. Although that was more fun trying to get to the right tempo after figuring that out. I can’t imagine actually paying any money for MetronomePro like they almost got me to do through the settings when I first opened. 1 week free but only took 10 minutes to get through the beats available...

An attempt to scam

When you open MetronomePro it gives you a pleasant slide show of what MetronomePro can do. Then asks you to purchase a subscription or start your free trial. And I’m very very hard to see light gray text in very small font it says you can try the limited version. I wouldn’t have found that option had I not come here to read reviews.

It’s an attempt to scam people who are too quick to react or know what they are doing.

Honestly shameful to the developer to get their money from trickery. And shameful that apple does not hold developers to a higher standard. Will e forwarding this to apple support.

Yeah I'm not paying for this...

It looked interesting so I installed it and was immediately greeted by a screen that locked me out of using MetronomePro unless I either paid $7.99 A WEEK or tried their "free trial" which after the first week would automatically charge me $7.99 a week. This is NOT a free app. It's only free if you sign up for a free trial then remember to unsubscribe from the renewal and then you're locked out of features. What features you're locked out of, I'm not sure and I'm not going to find out because this is getting installed right now. Total scam. I'm not paying $416 a year for a metronome....

SUBSCRIPTION PAGE

It took me forever to get pass the subscription page and you click the little gray font that says limited edition to get past. It’s really hard to see. Other than that it’s a good app

By

wow

i usually don’t rate apps, but this one takes the cake as one of the worst i’ve ever encountered. first, you have to sign up for a subscription before even just trying the free version. i do that because i’m stubborn and curious- then i get to the games. it took me less than a half an hour to get through all of them, and they weren't incredibly fun, either. a completely underwhelming experience- and that would be okay IF they weren’t hypothetically charging me 40/A YEAR!!! ridiculous. just go get a metronome or find a free metronome app!

By

7.99 a week.... really?

There is no free or lite version for a small price. Who can afford $8/week, seriously who? Why are apps lately trying this sort of ridiculous pricing mode? I don’t mind paying for a good app. Prefer a one time price and done. If i really like an app and a subscription is the only pay model perhaps I’ll reluctantly do $20 for the year.
$8 a week is $416 a year. F-that. I like having apps on my phone, I’m sure I can find an equivalent to this for an affordable price. Even if I hypothetically couldn’t I’d buy a physical metronome before ever paying this sort of price.

By

Deceptive presentation

Much as others have pointed out, you have to be careful when using the “free version”. With the way the beginning slide show is set up you go through answering the basic questions and at the end you have to look for the small blurb about the free version that is hidden. Otherwise you are setup with the $40 a year option.

I canceled two hours after I started using MetronomePro but I still am charged $40 for the first year even though this is not what I wanted.

App drains your battery!

Nice app, limited functionality (but that’s really all I need).

But... if you don’t manually force quit MetronomePro it WILL drain your battery. I used it last night for 10 minutes while my daughter practiced, and today the battery preference pane is showing Metronome Pro as using up to 54% of my battery every hour when it’s in the background and not actively running.

That’s some poor software engineering, guys. I’ve deleted it from my phone.

By

Very nice!

Ordered MetronomePro to support my banjo practice. It works very well. I found it to be easy to use. Settings allow for an easy change for time signatures and bpm. It does every thing I need to efficiently practice and progress. Thank you developers!

By

Too difficult to fight past the ads!

It would be nice to be able to use MetronomePro but you are barraged with a ton of ads that you have to fight your way through before you can use it. Every time I open it I have to deal with this. I use a metronome in my treatment of patients with brain based dysfunctional syndromes and it is very ridiculous when you open MetronomePro and have to fight through all this in order to use MetronomePro . I wouldn’t recommend MetronomePro because of this.

$8 a WEEK for a metronome app.

Downloaded MetronomePro for free but as soon as I clicked on MetronomePro it brings you to a subscription of not $8 a month (which is still ridiculous to even CONSIDER paying any type of recurring fee for a metronome app), but $8 a WEEK! This is the biggest rip off of an app and I’m sure you can subscribe and then unsubscribe to use just the free version but just the fact of hiding MetronomePro behind a paywall and forcing you to begin the “free” subscription is a blatant ripoff. Deleted just as soon as I downloaded.

By

Cool metronome but crashes often

I’ve had this for a while and it works very well, but every once in a while it will crash inexplicably while loading, and continue to do so every time I open MetronomePro until I power down and restart my phone. Other than that, very good quality metronome!

By

Pointless Subscription, needs non-premium version

This seems like a great tool to use, unfortunately it requires you to receive a free trial for anything before you can actually use it. I would be okay with getting a basic metronome, 3 rhythm levels, and only a limited amount of features on the custom rhythm editor rather than buying all of it for any of those features. Seems like a waste of money.

By

This app was kind of annoying

A lot of times, I couldn’t stop the metronome so I had to kill MetronomePro every time I used it. When I would use the metronome, it would ask me for the limited premium discount or play an ad. I was trying to record myself playing for an audition and about halfway through, an ad popped up and I had to restart the entire recording.

By

Ridiculous

It was very unclear to me that MetronomePro was charging me $8 weekly until I checked my emails and saw that I was getting receipts from MetronomePro every week. Who charges $8 weekly for a metronome app? I thought I only had to pay once, but apparently I wasn’t looking closely enough. Never have I had an app charge this much for something so simple. What a waste of my time and money. I have guitar students using MetronomePro, but I’ll be sure to inform them to use a different metronome app.

By

Would not support this company

I’m honestly disgusted with the fact they are charging so much for basic features for a very basic app. Talk to any programming friends you have and they will tell you how ridiculous it is. Please do yourselves a favor and just buy a regular metronome that will last you years compared to having to pay a subscription fee for literally the most basic programming work.

By

Big scam

I downloaded MetronomePro as a student who needed this for school. Was very frustrated when it forces you to buy premium. I’ve seen other reviews say that the free option is there, but the fact that I have yet to find this option is very frustrating. I hope the developer will understand that this isn’t a very good way to get customers, and that no one wants to be forced into getting something they didn’t want or need in the first place.

By

$8 a week for premium? Are you joking?

I thought this looked like a fun and interesting rhythm game with a metronome so I installed it. There are 15 levels in the gave and only 3 are free. The other 12 levels you have to pay $8 a week for with a “more levels coming soon” banner. It’s comedic how little you get for such a high price. If you paid for the premium for a month to get next to no features you’re looking at $32 a month or $384 a year. Do not buy this.

By

LOVE ME SOME RIP OFF APPS

clearly all these 5 star ratings are from bots that the creators probably paid for using the money they steal from customers who can’t cancel their subscriptions. you know what i can do with $8 a week? NOT spend it on a metronome app😂😂 thats for sure.

By

The may as well have just charged for it.

MetronomePro works fine. It does what it’s supposed to do, UNLESS you opt out of the 7.99 subscription. It loses all reason to download MetronomePro. Everything is locked behind a paywall except 3 basic tap to the beat levels (if you can call them that. You can literally do all 3 stages in 30 secs) and a masochist Metronome. It’s a decent app if your willing to pay.

By

No cancellation

We we at go cancel our subscription. Although it’s advertised that subscriptions can be managed at the users setting, there is no unsubscribe option at the user’s account setting. Such a rip off and can’t even cancel! By force they are charging us monthly. There is no contact information to contact them either. No phone number or email address. Beware and stay clear!

Metronome Review

I think this was really good!!😃 It really helped me with getting the right tempo on Yesterday-by the Beatles, my fav song-and it really just perfected it. I play guitar and I am ten years old, but really any age, any person or instrument can use it.

Sonia Habibian   1 year ago

I really not happy with this app. I believe it is a scam. I thought it was free but it didn't give me any option to choose a free trial. After clicking the download bottom I was charged for one year subscription. After that it showed me other options of one week or so subscriptions. I want to cancel my subscription but there is no bottom to do that. If I am not not able to cancel the subscription then I will report it.
