I’ve used this application for about five (5) years. There has always been a problem with perverted individuals but it wasn’t nearly as bad during my first two (2) years of using it. Met a few cool people on this app. But I will say, a lot of the problems other critical reviews mention are there but it can vary in intensity. I can’t recommend anyone to really use Chatous due to a myriad of reasons: people looking for and/or selling access to some not so family friendly content (illegal content also included into this point) ((first part would be fine if there weren’t any underaged individuals on the application)), having a relatively difficult time finding anyone to talk to in the first place, bots are semi-prevalent, the filter system (for finding someone to talk to) doesn’t always work as intended. I’ve had a okay time with Chatous but now it’s a complete and utter dumpster fire. Avoid it and look for something better.

NOTE: I would advise most decent and/or impatient human beings to stay away from this application. If you go against my advice, however, I wish you the best of luck in finding a good friend to talk to. Believe it or not there are some good people there, underneath the rotten layer of filth.

They do absolutely nothing to remove scammers who pop up all the time - even after innumerable reports. They need to remove them , or at least allow people to block people you are not actively chatting with - example- this “Kyla” sex scammer person- also known as Ksenia and other names - she comes up but doesn’t even stay for a second, immediately signing off, so she can’t be blocked - let us block people who we have spoken to in the past so they don’t keep coming up! Even when you pay good money to get certain people to chat with/ same scammers keep coming up - never dealt with

I had Chatous for approximately 4 years on and off and deleted it this year due to multiple reasons.

Chatous is infested with bugs to the point you just meet the same bots who are seeking odd stuff such as child pornography, and other by god gross things and linking you to those websites. Even when you update your profile, others cannot see it til’ you reinstall Chatous once more along with them if you’re considering of staying friends.

I want to clarify that this was supposed to be a talking app, but expect numerous of guys and gals (although the ratio is higher in males in Chatous) to treat Chatous like Tinder. There is about 5% of people on Chatous who are seeking to actually have a friendship while the rest, who even knows. Fetish seeking people is what.

Chatous is filled with horrendous people who are catfishes, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, pedophiles, xenophobic, and basically anything phobic that’s negative you can think of really. The amount of disrespect towards people here is atrocious.

Photos also come out blurry, which is a weird thing. Not sure why though.

If you think of installing Chatous, DON’T. You will be disappointed.

Actually met my husband on this hellscape of an app. It’s mostly filled with weirdos, creeps, and bots but if you’re lucky enough to find someone decent to talk to, it’s almost worth the rest of the strange crap. Met as teenagers, have done 4 years of long distance trips, and will be getting married in August. It’s a lovely story but Chatous still has such a gross reputation we pretend we met online playing video games. Definitely do not let your kids under 17 anywhere near this. But thanks, this app, for my awesome partner and our own secret/inside jokes about this weird webscape you’ve created that will never get old.

I have reported SO many accounts that talk about selling or wanting to see child porn, and those accounts are still up and talking to people. Nobody does anything about when you report an account so why is there a report button? Just make it a block button instead. I understand they cannot control the people on Chatous but they can at least take down accounts that go against FEDERAL LAWS. The design of Chatous itself is good in my opinion. But I wished there was more done to fix issues still happening.

Chatous can be a great place to meet friends, meet people from other countries, and practice conversation. But be VERY careful, Chatous is full of predators, people lying about their age (to seem younger, or to seem older too), scams, and horny individuals as the least of your concern. I got fed up with all that but I quit when I realized how much time I was wasting trying to connect to people, and Chatous got monetized to hell. I would say that this is an 18+ app for sure. There are almost certainly better alternatives that filter out suspicious matches and provide for a safer (and faster) experience.

Chatous was such a great place to find amazing people to talk to about 3-4 years ago. Ever since then more people have found out about it and it’s full of weirdos,creeps,a lot of people being underage but saying there 18 or older,people selling there pics and even people using children as there profile pics. You also get the same people over and over again and never see any new people. Chatous needs to have a big change come it’s way and fast. Only good thing I have to say about it and it’s the reason I gave it 2 stars is because I’ve found a few decent people on there but that’s about it.

it’s really inconvenient that people you’ve matched with can’t see your profile updates. when you change your profile picture and bio, they still see the old one from when you first connected with them. Chatous makes profile pictures look so much lower quality than they actually are, and then people think you’re a catfish! on the online version (i have mac) you can only reply to your old conversations or video chat. there is no option to text chat like in the ios app. other than that, there are many profiles that are bots. there should be some kind of spam regulation that whenever someone stays on the “waiting for chat” page without clicking anything or skipping, they should be suspended for a short amount of time. lastly, you seriously need some profile picture checking system. i’ve seen way too many nudes just scrolling, trying to find normal people to talk to. i truly love Chatous and will stay on it but these things are what’s going to make it like tinder and other random chat apps.

It’s a good app I use to use when I was young but I downloaded it again two days ago and not much has changed but add a dark mode and make it where you can reply from notifications and over time it deletes ended chats so there’s just not a bunch there or at least let us select multiple chats to delete at once and if you wanna make some money off the coin system add ads in return for coins no one is gonna buy coins for your overpriced prices but besides that Chatous is fun to text new people and stuff so yea I hope you take my ideas into consideration good luck

Not only do some of these reviews sound beyond fake, none of them really explain what needs redone. There should be a monitoring system that doesn’t allow disturbing images as profile pictures, messages shouldn’t delete after time, once you skip a person they shouldn’t come back twice in a row, and there’s so much improvement needed, i love Chatous but there are many different ideas that could make Chatous even better

I do like Chatous, this is the only app where you can be under 18 and make friends easily in a good space, however, over 50% of the people I talk to on Chatous, their profile will say they’re 16 or 17 but then they say they’re in their 40s or 30s and they think “oh the 18+ side of Chatous is boring and weird” is a good excuse for lying about their age. I don’t know what the game developers can do about it maybe a photo verification so their age is accurate, other than that reoccurring issue, I like Chatous.

There are so many fake people on Chatous. So many inappropriate guys and inappropriate profile pics. It’s really annoying that most of the people on here are rude and very inappropriate but I have found some interesting people on here. I think Chatous should be better at banning inappropriate people because I’m 14 and there are so many 30 year old guys that just want nudes 🙄. Every once and a while I’ll find someone worth talking to. If there weren’t so many fake guys on here then this would be a great app to find friends.

Chatous used to be amazing but it’s become a load of crap. I know you can’t force people to chat with others but if you’re going to keep the coins then at least have the common curtesy to only have them used for reconnecting with someone or opening a chat directly with someone on the featured list and not for looking for people in your preferred chat only to end up literally wasting your money away. Even gambling is less of a waste of money than this.

Chatous is a great way to meet people around the world but one thing I think could really make Chatous more interesting is if you added a group chat feature. I know from personal experience when I meet people who like the same music as me I’d love for them to talk with the other people I talk to. I think a group chat feature on Chatous could really make it better.

Also, if you are able to, please help us get the bots off of the site/app. They’re killing the experience. Sex bots, spam bots, etc. Even racist bots. They’re randomly created accounts and if you’re able to crack down on how account creation occurs(like put verification actions in the process or something) then it’d be much easier to deal with them. As it stands, I encounter a bot for every 5 Times I am matched.

I have to say that Chatous is very fun, sometimes. However, there are creepy people on here, but you’ll see those people everywhere. I had a few guys grooming me saying that they love me, want to spend the rest of our lives together, etc., but what I do have to give it credit for is my current boyfriend. He is sweet and he lives far away but he has come to visit me four times. So yes Chatous has its down sides but there are good things about Chatous.

Of course the user base is gonna be made up of lonely users what did you expect. But surprisingly enough you can actually find plenty a solid people to talk to. The tricky part is getting them to talk to you, but a solid profile pic and bio should be enough to not constantly get skipped. And if people stop talking mid chat, it’s you not them

I will admit, Chatous is kind of horrible. It can often be a cesspool of creeps, bots, etc. But, at the same time, you can meet the best people on earth here! I met an amazing friend here, who I deeply love and care for, and who also feels the same for me. But nevertheless, that rare miracle is not enough to negate its many, many short comings. Firstly, Chatous doesn’t update your profile once you’ve started conversation. There should be more regulations to prevent pervs and creeps from polluting Chatous . There should also be a feature to send videos, instead of just recording them, and to italicize bold, or cross texts. Also, it’d be amazing if I could see old conversations, they disappear. I hope the developers take some user suggestions, Chatous has serious potential, but it’s still lacking.

Neither of us intended on more than a conversation to pass some time. Never would have imagined that I’d actually start my life with this person. 5 stars because she’s the love of my life & we were in love from hello. 0 stars otherwise. Chatous was (is) filled with horny guys who want nothing more than a virtual hookup, horny grown men looking for the same with minors, “bot” accounts, and people who love to pass up on every person that they could potentially be talking to. With that in mind, it feels like I won the lottery.

Not going to lie, my experience on Chatous wasn’t very good, there were quite a lot of creepy men and boys who just wanted to groom me into sexually assaulting myself for their sick twisted enjoyment, although I did have some okay experiences.
And out of the whole cesspool, the last person I met on this app was my soulmate. Two years later, I moved over a thousand miles to be with him and we’re getting married soon. So I do owe this app a 5 star for giving me the man I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.
