Now Buggy on Apple Watch

I was excited when I found FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner and have been using it over a year. Even paid for the premium version. I lift 5-6x a week and like being able to track my lifts as well as have a timer between sets. It was working well for awhile and I loved it, but after one of the updates, it began constantly disconnecting from my phone. I'd get through my workout then hit sync and says that it cannot sync because I have to connect to my iPhone. My watch IS connected to my iphone and this is the only app that has that issue. I'm constantly having to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work. Airplane mode, restarting the watch, and restarting the phone do not work. It's become so irritating that I'm about ready to move on and begin my search for another app. What's the point of a workout app that records your workouts if it doesn't save anything? 😂 Too bad because I used to really love how easy it was to use.

Can’t get through a single workout without a glitch

I want to love FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner because it promises a convenient way of tracking my workouts. It’s a lot better than my old post-it note system. :) However, I cant get through a single workout without FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner glitching on me. I wish I were exaggerating. When working through a superset, FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner thinks I’m finished before I’ve completed all the sets. Sometimes it will just stop toggling back and forth between the two exercises in my linked set. When I finish a workout, it flashes the “completion screen” over and over and I can’t make it stop unless I close out of FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner . Other times, mid-workout, FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner will become unresponsive and just close. I’ve given FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner a lot of chances and I can’t figure out if I’m doing anything contribute to the problem. If it helps, I’m using an iPhone 8. I’m going to try to find another app that’s less glitchy until I can be sure that I can get through a workout without getting mad at this one... :)

Pretty good but issues with sync and watch

Having issues understanding how to get this dialed in. My watch doesn’t seem to sync automatically (I am on the upgraded plan) and forces me to press “sync” manually on my Apple ultra watch. There is no way to add FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner as a complication on my watch face (which is actually very annoying). And I entered all of my routine and workout in my phone today and did my workout using my phone and it didn’t log any of the data into health app. Finally got it to log the data into health app but it didn’t log any of my workout minutes into my Apple activity app.

Net out - I like the simplicity of use and logging but I hate (hate) the way it syncs between apps and with my watch. Clunky or dysfunctional to say the least.

Great features, but buggy

This is very close to a fantastic fitness tracker app, but it has some serious bugs that become apparent over time. After about six months, it started randomly dropping weightlifting totals a few days after they were entered, showing zero pounds and reps on days when I did full workouts. I haven’t figured out a way to work around this. Since the whole point of FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner is to track your progress, having entries from past days just disappear makes it frustratingly useless. It also only tracks one year of data, so once you pass 12 months your old data starts disappearing even without the bugs. If they would fix these issues, FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner would be great! But as it is, I really feel like I made a poor choice using this one…

A lot of good, with some problems

I like it, I use it, but some things drive me nuts.

(1) Exercise search is badly broken. For example, a lot of exercises have the substring “run” in their names, so when I search for “run”, Run is hidden behind the pop up keyboard. It’s very awkward and painful to deal with. (2) Exercises with duration: If I use the built-in timer, it starts counting at the time from the last time I did the exercise. Say, i planked for 1:30 three times two days ago. Today, I start the timer, and it jumps to 1:40. After ten seconds, it says 1:40. That’s not useful. Setting the time to 00:00:00 does not fix the problem. It still jumps ahead. (3) Saving edits to a workout routine is very awkward and painful.

I Like This Update

Just a couple of days ago, I was wondering if FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner would ever be updated and here we are. It doesn’t change everything, but it is much better organized. The only problems I’ve had are the search and timer don’t always work. Not sure I like the timer increments in seconds as opposed to 15 second increments. I love how easy it is to substitute one exercise for another. All of my data and workouts made it to the new version. If it let me control my music, I would be set. The lose a star for the search and timer not working consistently. If it’s something I’m doing, I will add the star.

Great App, One Major Flaw

Overall, this is an amazing. I love how customizable it is & the overall app setup is very rewarding. However, this is a major flaw that leaves room for improvement.

Some exercises are duration based, rather than weight. For these exercises you have a timer to hit when you begin said exercise. Unfortunately, that timer makes no noise once the time has run out. This renders useless in most situations (i.e. handstand holds). In addition to this, the timer sometimes stops counting down if the screen on my device goes dim, though this isn’t a regular occurrence.

With this fixed, Fitlist will become near perfect as a workout app.

Great but could be better

This is FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner I was looking for that had many workouts and I could add each one every workout. Some workouts even come with videos. Overall I’m satisfied but there are few things that would make this the best.
1. Adding some kind of indication on the days you worked out. Maybe having small blue dots or something on the days you have added a work out so you don’t guess which days you worked out or not.

2. Notes indication. They have a notes thing for every workout but there no way to know which workout has notes unless you have perfect memory. If this could be fixed it would be amazing.

Strongly considering upgrading, love the simplicity of this app!

I’ve been using this to structure custom workouts and my knee rehab exercises that my physical therapist has assigned to me. It’s so easy to make your own workout and adjust reps, weight, sets, etc. Especially love that you can schedule out your week based on routine so you just click on the day and start the workout you assigned yourself!
There could be improvements which I’m not sure are in the upgraded version or not (would be nice to have a better feature list for this available):
1. Left and right options for exercises; right now I’ll add 6 sets of an exercise to note that I should switch sides vs programming 3 sets
2. Notification when the duration of your set is done; it only beeps after the rest period is up, id like to know when I should’ve started that rest!
3. View of comments or notes added to exercises in a workout without having to select the exact exercise again when reviewing
4. Preview of upgraded graphs
5. Bigger “play” and “stop” buttons on duration exercises or a get into position timer prior
6. Calculate or estimate weights to start off with based on body weight or 1 rep max stats
7. Calculate progressive weight increases based on strength goals

Needs some bug fixes

I really love FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner overall it’s exactly what I’m looking for in a work out app. It does an amazing job and giving an idea on how to work out in that specific work out and I love that.

MY ONLY PROBLEM WHICH I WOULD LOVE TO BE FIXED IS… the only reason I paid for FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner is for the group workouts. I do the same work out every week and I would love to not have to manually input them every week. Instead to group them so they are ready for me every time. If this was fixed FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner would deserve a 5 stars. Please consider fixing this issue. When I click the “create new group” it goes blank even though I bought FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner for monthly payments!

Great workout tracker—worth subscribing

I’m very happy that developers have gotten back to work on FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner. They integrated lots of community feedback—much respect. Beautiful UI, easy and effective tracking of workouts across various levels of recording and analysis. Definitely worth subscribing to.

Old review: This is a good app that I’m happy to pay a subscription for. However, I will need to see more work into development. There hasn’t been an update in two years, but there is plenty of room for more functionality. Above all: please add a function to log drop sets.

Perfect for the garage gym specialist

I workout at home with a minimal amount of equipment in my garage. FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner allows me to keep track of my activities(types of exercises), track total volume(total reps and time exercised), track intensity(total weight lifted) and allows me to create workouts. It has tons of exercises to choose from to create your own workouts and if the exercise your looking for is not listed you can add it to your exercise library. I’ve had FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner for more than two years and it has kept track of all my fitness data. All in all, it’s a very flexible app that does what you need it to do.

Very simple, latest version has some issues

The previous version would reuse your history / last weight for each new set. The new “workout timer” is totally useless for weight lifting as a default UI and doesn’t use a sensible default for new sets, which means you have to re enter the same weight over and over for each set.

Overall I really like FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner , but the previous version worked very well for weight lifting and the newest one has a much degraded UX for my most common use case.

I’ll be switching back to the old version until this is resolved or there is an option to get the old behavior.

Just about as good as it can get (without subscribing)

I got FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner before the subscription option. I paid extra to remove ads and save my own workouts. It works great for everything I use it for. I absolutely love it! Is the subscription worth it? No idea, but the regular app is perfect for what I use it for. I am definitely no trainer, I workout on my own and I usually just use routines I find online, but FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner tracks, logs, and remembers everything. It even has a pretty easy to use watch app. The watch app could link better to the fitness tracker in the watch and iPhone, but it does it well enough for me.

Almost Fantastic

Let me be clear, I love everything about this about FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner, but the one thing it doesn't do keeps me from using more. I can't link my accounts from 2 devices!!! I have to carry a work phone at all times because of the nature of my job, but my company won't allow me access to purchase apps or specifically Fitlist Premium. So I purchased it on both my personal phone and iPad hoping to enjoy the premium service on my work phone, but it won't link together. And let's face it, I am not carrying either 2 or 3 devices during my workout just to log my routine. God try Fitlist, maybe in the future you can find a way☹️.

Use it everyday, but needs a few features

I think FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner needs a feature to where you can add current maxes for different exercises. Then also incorporate a different way of adding what weight you want to use for the exercise, instead of typing in “x” amount of weight, make it to where you can put I want to lift “85%” of my max weight and it calculates it for you. Another great addition would be a progress chart for your exercises that shows your increase in weight/reps of a specific exercise instead of the whole workout. The chart provided now is pretty much useless, it shows increase in total weight and total reps? That is not helpful at all.

Always improving

Update: Every time I come back to rate FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner, the improvements keep getting better and better. This is a must have for anyone in the gym that wants to build and grow in their fitness journey! Keep up the great work.

Update: 5 Stars. I had FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner at 3 stars. I tried some other apps until this update, but being able to easily adjust exercises up and down is really helpful for the gym I go to. I’d highly recommend using FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner!

Love FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner. I have been using FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner for almost 2 yrs, every day. I’d leave 5 stars, but suddenly you cannot move exercises up or down. I will change when that comes back.

Very simple and easy to use.

Love how FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner is compatible with Apple Watch. As a UX designer, I must commend the UX team that designed the Apple Watch interface and interactions.

I also love phone app cause it's so simple to use. A lot of apps out there are just fluff and include things that you don't need or are simply annoying. FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner is easy to use and gives you what you exactly needs. Track weight reps and sets. You can see your progress and calendar as well. No annoying notifications or anything. I would recommend to include a calendar for more than a year and ability to open FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner online on a computer. I think this will help to backup the data.

This app has everything

Where to start! Make your own workouts, you can modify and save the newer versions. Being able to carry notes forward from the previous workout. Seeing historical data progression by exercise is amazing. Add in your own exercise or choose from the database which also gives detailed instructions of the exercise. You can see and share other members workouts. You can text your workouts to other people, export your workouts into a spreadsheet. You can define if it’s a warmup set, drop set, max rep. This is just for lifting there are a ton of things also for cardio and endurance. Just a great app all the way around. Far better than any I’ve seen or worked with.

Good for Temporary use

FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner does its exact job. To get your metrics it requires a subscription.

I understand this is about monetizing on FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner Store, but I don’t want to be tied down to a perpetual payment. It would be great for a one time purchase option, I wouldn’t care if that didn’t come with updates. As it is, FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner would more than suffice in tracking your workouts.

For those attempting to use this without a subscription, FitlistWorkoutLogPlanner has limitations to how many workouts you can add before it prompts to need a purchase before having more access.
