Old and inaccurate bikelane info

2022-05-28

I paid the extra $1.99 to get the bike lanes overlay on the map and found that information that is old or just plain wrong. Maybe this is based on NYC DOTโ€™s plans, but errors I found donโ€™t acth reality or the current (2015) city bike map. For example, BikeNYC marks about 20 blocks of Fourth Ave in Brooklyn as having a shared lane. The official city bike map marks that stretch as a signed route rather than having shared lane (i.e., sharrows), and I can attest from having recently traveled both ways along that stretch that there are absolutely no markings on the street for bikes. Meanwhile, the city map indicates that a Fifth Ave in Brooklyn now has sharrows from 23rd St down to 65th St., but BikeNYC shows nothing at all along that stretch.

Not useful

2022-06-29

When you open BikeNYC , It doesnโ€™t show true bike lanes. When you select the icon to show them a little window pops up that says unlock bike lanes and then stays there frozen and you cannot use BikeNYC at all. Clearly you are supposed to do something but It is completely confusing and not intuitive at all.

UI elements gone from the iPhone SE version

2022-07-30

When you tap the Apple Watch icon on the menu a window comes up explaining the Apple Watch app, but on an iPhone SE thereโ€™s no way to exit out of this window. I assume the x to close button is outside BikeNYC screen area (because of iPhone SEโ€™s lower resolution)

Please fix.

Great concept, but the app no longer works

2022-08-31

Got excited to try this out with my new Apple Watch, but BikeNYC no longer connects to live Citibike data. Hopefully the developer updates the API connections at some point.

Doesnโ€™t work on my Apple Watch 4. No support

2022-10-02

on the watch it says to open BikeNYC on my phone to purchase watch app. Iโ€™ve done that. App message stays the same. Iโ€™ve reached out to developer a couple times and have never heard back.

Google Maps is more accurate

2022-11-02

You are better off using Google Maps than BikeNYC. Google maps is pretty accurate with the bike paths plus navigation.

Very limited

2022-12-04

I paid the extra $1.99, but it doesn't even give you a route to get to your destination. I didn't realize that the point of BikeNYC was just for Citi bikes.

Try again!

None of the buttons work!

Same as NYC map that you can get for free

2023-02-05

This map doesnโ€™t map your route. You can get an exact same map for free from NYC.gov

Easy to use

Great app

Thanks

Great NYC Bike Map

2023-06-09

There are two major bike apps for NYC. I much prefer BikeNYC to the "official" one. The actual bike map which shows the bike lanes is much easier to read. And yes, I paid for the upgrade. Thanks!

The interface is really simple, and information is presented in a logical way. Fast, responsive, it's what the original citibike app should have been.

Features

Bike NYC is the easiest way to get where you're going using the NYC Citi Bike bike sharing program.

It's one thing, and one thing only: a map that lists every Citi Bike station.

We even have data that's fresher and more accurate than the official Citi Bike app.

You just want to find a bike so you can get where you're going.

Don't worry, Bike NYC's got your back.

Things are hectic enough in this city without having to navigate your way through another clunky, hard-to-use app.

We include up-to-the-minute information about how many bikes and docks each station has right there on the map itself.

You're busy.

And of course everything's blazing fast and responsive, since ultimately we just want to get you out of our app and onto your bike as quickly as possible.
