Widgets used to be free - Now in app purchase after update

I used this app mainly for the very useful prayer time widgets, which were a free feature. After the 4.0 update, they became in an app purchase that requires subscription payment. I’m not against developers getting paid, but what I am against is developers locking previously important and free features behind payments without prior notice.
New update and switch to subscription model

App was truly great until they switched to a subscription model for no reason other than pure greed, I bought the pro version before and now I get “3 months subscription”.
Subscription is pointless and not worth it, no reason for implementing it.
Added free features behind a subscription

They had many free features and after the update they became a monthly subscription.
Why should i buy something that was originally free? A subscription should be for new features, not old and free features. This is just lazy development and a lazy money grab.
