I have used WKRCWX for some years now. Really like the content. I probably open WKRCWX 15-20 times each day. Sadly, the latest version (late January 2021) crosses my line of minimum acceptability, making it unbearable (for me). The new feature that just goes “too far” is a big banner of advertisement that appears a fraction of a second after the background of the home screen first appears. Then, nothing else appears for about 5-7 seconds, after which WKRCWX ’s useful options appear. Essentially, I now have to wait an additional 5 seconds EVERY time I open WKRCWX , during which period, the ONLY thing I see is an advertisement. My time’s too valuable. Bye bye, app. Going elsewhere. Too bad.

I'm a teacher with a 60 min. commute and needed an app which included predicted snowfall via radar (i.e. reliable data). WKRCWX consistently shows radar clouds as purple swaths which, according to the key, is 36" of snow! The LIGHTEST amount of purple indicates 18" of snow. I was panicking on Jan 15th because WKRCWX also showed a severe winter weather warning which led me to believe we were indeed getting 18"-36" snow. However, all other weather reports predicted 2" snow, which turned out to be accurate. Totally useless to me. FIX THE SNOW OVERLAY

WKRCWX isn’t horrible, a little bit slow but not bad. It used to not have any ads before you watched the 3 minute weather, why is there ads for such a short video. I have seen along time ago they would mess up the editing of the videos and sometimes it wouldn’t be weather, but now ads before a 3 minute video. I’ll stay with the garbage weather app on my I phone.

It’s not a horrible app. But it’s very annoying that it keeps asking me to allow WKRCWX to use my location. I can see it asking once then go on. But it asks to use my location almost daily. Which gets even more annoying when I have WKRCWX on two devices. If it don’t stop it will be deleted.

Decent app when it comes to precipitation on stormy days. My only complaint is on a normal day cloud cover is not accurate or reliable for novice astronomers.

Ok but would be better if it incorporated a widget for quick current conditions.

Sometimes WKRCWX is dependable and other times it updates the rain chances after the rain has already hit. Not a very reliable weather app.

After I updated my weather app to the newest version when I click on the icon it doesn’t come up anymore I have to turn my phone off and back on for WKRCWX to open

Switched to a vastly different UI and it is definitely not user friendly. I am switching to a different weather app after posting this review. You can’t just leave a good thing alone, can you? Fail.

This is the exact same app (from the same provider) that Fox 19 is already using; however, it lacks the tab that allows you to send in weather photos and video. It also lacks their connection to video forecasts and other content. A bit disappointed.

App says it’s 76° and sunny...it’s in the mid 60’s and pouring buckets. Thought maybe WKRCWX needed updating. Did the update, still says 76° and sunny. What a joke.

This new version doesn’t show current temp and forces to portrait mode. On the iPad, landscape is better.

The update to WKRCWX has rendered it useless. Please bring back the old version!!!

So I try to watch John Gumm’s weather report and what’s this covering part of the screen? (this is on my iphone by the way so not much screen) Closed caption for the hearing impaired. Guess I’d be glad if I were hearing impaired...BUT I AM NOT! I combed through WKRCWX to see if I could shut it off. NOPE! Nowhere to be found. So I close it out. Then thought maybe I should check again to see if it was a fluke. NOPE! This time it’s even worse. Looks like someone who has no idea where the proper keys are on the keyboard. Very annoying! Please! Please! Please! Give us an option to select out of closed caption. Let me decide if I want it or not. This was not there this morning when I watched the morning report. 2 stars because it needs to go. November 4, 2020

So I need to update this review. Thank you for removing the closed caption. But would someone please update the weather video in a timely manner. I wanted to watch the 5:30p weather update but what they had up was the noon report. It’s 11:00p so I’d like to see the 10:00 report. This is getting worse on WKRCWX. Plus Tera’s morning report is so short that if you blink you miss it completely. April 26,2021

Ok, so I am back. This weather app just seems to get worse and worse. Now Tera’s morning report is 30 seconds or less. At least the previous ones were close to 90 seconds. And all she does is give the temps and if it’s supposed to rain or not.
And then the later weather reports have the meteorologist in tiny little boxes with what appears to be a spotlight on their faces that washes them out. They all sound like they are in tin cans.
Come on! Get it together and just go back to showing a regular weather report. Whoever is responsible should be fired! Just don’t bring back the closed caption for everyone! STOP MESSING WITH WKRCWX! It was great before! October 21, 2021 Stay tuned!!

Like the new home screen radar but where is the local 12 news app?????

Great weather app. I like it better than the last one! Updates faster also!

What happened? One day, I try to read my daly news when I instead, get a message that directs me to WKRCWX and states that my current channel 12 app will no longer be supported. I am very dissatisfied. I would love to have the news part of WKRCWX back.

Since the July 10 update it will not open, keeps crashing

This is similar to the fox 19 app. The old interface was better. I would enjoy if you can make it similar to the whio weather app. That is set up beautifully.

Can't believe that the iPad app can be so inferior to the IPhone app. Do they think iPad users are stupid or just don't care? Really sad.
