I have run into so many technical issues with this program. Their flash cards don’t work like regular flash cards, the conversation ai requires that I tap a button to respond. There’s a setting to remove that, but it doesn’t work. It’s pretty annoying when you want to have fluid conversations while getting ready for the day, etc., but instead you have to keep tapping your phone. The feature to translate podcasts is super cool, except I could only use it on the browser, and of course the browser would randomly log me out and make it difficult to get back in. Yes, I have spoken to this app’s support team several times. Yes, they have tried to help, but ultimately I’ve just avoided using this program because the “fixes” have either been temporary, or non existent. This was a very cool idea for an app, but the price tag is painful, especially for an application I generally avoid. Buyer beware.

I subscribed for a month and was not impressed. I am trying to learn French and need a chance to actually speak.

First problem is that Langua looses my password, apple has it memorized but Langua does not always take it and I must keep trying.

Actual language problems: I say things and not only does the AI not understand me (I know I am not very good) but it just makes things up. Ie, I say j’habite en USA and thé Ai writes j’habit en Germany , you can not confuse the two not matter how bad my French is. This is only one example but this happens often , I say one thing and thé AI writes something else.

Another error I find is when doing dialogue thé AI does not always help out. If I say je mange un Apple , should not thé AI say Apple in French is pomme, je mange un pomme? I put myself as a beginner, thé description of Langua lead me to believe that it would correct or help me when I did not know the word needed in French.

In the end I am very disappointed.

I’m at what we’ll call a C1+ C2 level. In my daily life most people not from Spain think I’m from Spain. I wanted to work on accent reduction but when I lean into the Madrid accent the voice recognition, even with a quiet room and a professional headset, really had trouble understanding me. I’m around Spanish-speakers from multiple countries daily so I have a strong read on how I sound. I speak quickly but no one has trouble understanding me but the AI really couldn’t keep up. I like the idea, but it didn’t pass muster for what I was looking for exactly. Props though for being good at walking through slang.

I have been using this 16 days and discovered just after day 2 how the counter keeps your daily streak going, so each day is was fun to watch the daily count go up… then I got to day 14 and was ready to see it move from “day 13” —> to “day 14” and was excited to also see the “week 1” move to “week 2” and so as always, I logged on, completed a grammar chat, got my little fire icon for the day & it told me my points I just earned. Exciting!! HOWEVER, the next day I opened Langua and it stated “Day 0” and my week was “week 1”

So, I contact the help desk explaining and asking if they can update my account. Alex wrote back and said that I must have created 2 accounts as they “see this a lot” and to go check my settings.

I replied that no I have not created a new account, I still log in with the same info I have the last 14 days, all the same conversations are there in my history and my points are still the same as when I logged out.

No response. Typical. Now I’m on day 16…I was on for a good hour yesterday and today as always, received the little fire icon with my points and I’m STILL at day Zero. Duolingo doesn’t have this problem with keeping track… There shouldn’t be such a bug in the system, especially since I’m a paying PRO customer.

Now today during the chat, the AI is repeating several words in a row. That’s quite annoying. Guess all works well until it doesn’t.

this app, in both mobile and web form, is a wonderful language learning app with several useful features. However for beginners and near-beginners, there’s much room for improvement. Specific points follow:

1) AI chat response conversation speed cannot be controlled. There is a ‘turtle’ button for slower playback, but it can’t be set as default. For those just learning a language, trying to understand responses at high speed is almost a useless exercise in frustration! A response default playback speed control is badly needed.

2) Also in AI chat, there are no controls over (a) sentence length or (b) vocabulary level (e.g. 3rd grade etc.). These can be generally mitigated by asking the AI to operate under specified conditions.

3) For French, only two podcasts show up if you select Beginner level. While useful, these throw a lot at you at once and may be frustrating for some students.

In all, this app has a lot to offer most language learners. Hopefully the constraints noted for beginners will be addressed in future updates.

Langua is fantastic for practicing your speaking with an AI. The built in games, role plays, and debates are great for keeping things interesting instead of just talking about your day. The AI voice quality is also high quality and accurate.

A few things I wish could be improved: it can be slow at transcribing and responding, sometimes loses messages, and hands-free mode doesn’t work that well.

Sometimes I talk for awhile and it then takes forever to try and process it and then it just doesn’t and it’s like I said nothing. That’s very demoralizing.

I would LOVE a hands free closer to ChatGPT that’s more intelligent than pausing on silence. I find it’s very sensitive to background noise, and that mode is most useful if I’m walking outside or driving. The sensitivity makes it not work well, while ChatGPT does well in these environments. But the new design makes it much easier to use the buttons though which helps alleviate this some

Sometimes it’s hard finding people who will talk with me in Spanish, and I can’t afford a tutor, so I needed to find another way to practice speaking. First I tried Chat GPT, but I didn’t like having to spend a lot of time trying to come up with exact directions to get Langua to do what I wanted. When this app came out with their app, I thought I’d give it a try, and I’ve never looked back. this app is designed specifically for language learning, so it’s much easier to use, and I feel like all the additional features that come with it make it much more helpful. this app is a better bargain for me than Chat GPT because it saves me a lot of time and frustration. If you’re studying a language, I encourage you to give this app a try and see what it can do for you.

What a lifesaver this app is for keeping my Spanish fluency up. I can have a “lesson” designed however I prefer, whenever I have time and interest. The voices are incredible, the sophistication amazing and I can easily reread my comments with corrections, helping to reinforce my learning. It is AMAZING and at a killer price. I’ve tried most of the fluency applications out there and this one RULES.

Literally the coolest way to learn a language and it’s constantly updating and refining features blowing my mind. I struggle to find the words that would suffice for describing my experience with Langua. I’m just so impressed lol I’ve noticed my own improvement immediately which is a such a confidence booster. Langua makes the process feel so customizable, intentional and supported.

I've been studying Spanish for several years now and have used a variety of apps, platforms, and programs in my learning journey. The this app app is by far the most comprehensive of any of these while still being easy to use and reliably functional. I particularly love the AI chat function, along with the transcript analysis for podcasts and other uploaded materials. Thanks for the fantastic app!

One of the things that I absolutely love about this program is the fact that the creators put their heart and soul into really wanting to create a massively great experience for the user. Their interaction and communication is much more on a personal level. And they constantly are on top of their game of making the best language tutor out there. And it really is amazing.

I struggled a bit to use Langua and found no matter what I did that it quickly became too advanced. That’s likely a user error. When I brought my issues to the development team, they were very responsive and Apple did issue a quick refund for my purchase. I will likely try this app again in the future as I can see why people like it so much.

I have tried using several other AI apps for learning to speak french. Each one has *a* strength or two, But Langua has the best of all possible worlds. You can learn grammar and vocabulary, watch videos, practice speaking or writing, get spaced repetition of new vocabulary…in short, you can get all that with the use of several apps, OR get this one and have it all in one place. I am so happy I found it, and I’m learning much faster now.

I’ve been using this app for over 6 months. Hands down one of the best programs out there for taking your language learning to the next level. I can only speak for the Spanish sections because that’s what I’ve been learning for 9 years. With this app, I can see progress again and it’s getting me out of myintermediate plateau. 5/5! Great program.

Although nothing beats a real time session with a language teacher, this app does a superb job in giving the learner an opportunity to have conversations with a native speaker from whatever country they choose at whatever level they wish. The ability to choose the subject, allows one to develop the vocabulary and grammar skills oriented to areas of interest.

I can understand the audiobook. I can read a novel in Spanish. But when it comes to speaking and an every day situation, I find myself a bit tonguetied. Langua is amazing in the practice that it gives you. There’s lots of added features that really help for you to study, but it is amazing how much practice you can get using the various modes there’s nothing like it been using the AI on Duolingo and it’s good and I think it’ll get better but in comparison into this, it’s really no comparison at all.

I find this app to closely replicate the experience of having a very patient tutor/teacher.

Other apps may be fun, but either incorrectly “hear” what you were trying to say, or interrupt you as you are trying to formulate your thought. This may replicate the experience of encountering an impatient stranger on the street, but it doesn’t really help you practice your conversational skills.

I agree with the review that this app is probably most helpful for those who already have a moderate (or rusty) level of language mastery. I had 5.5 years of French classes in high school/college, but no use of the language for 35 years, and Langua is helping my recall and confidence.

this app is able to differentiate subtle pronunciation differences (ie “de” vs “du” in French), and correct errors.

this app’s ability to interpret speech in general appears to be far superior to other apps I have tried. It is so reassuring to be understood much of the time, even when corrections are suggested.

First, the support staff and founders of the platform are incredibly personable and interactive. Their desire to hear the customer’s input and implement change is outstanding! They are continually evolving the program and respond to my personal email request within a day. This is the type of company I will always support. The language learning platform is so advanced and its capabilities are ahead of its time. I am studying Arabic and this platform has the rare ability to switch dialects upon request, create stories from new and old vocabulary words, give feedback on your spoken and written ability, the AI chat bots are unique and sound authentic, even for Arabic. I have been studying Spanish off and on for multiple years, many of which I have actually lived in Mexico. So conversation is my primary goal. The AI tools of Langua are exceptional . I am extremely impressed with the high quality conversational options and the in depth corrections and suggestions that follow up. So many apps correct you without explanation, but with Lingua you get a written correction (which can be saved) plus the AI tutor will verbally explain. Too many positives to detail in this review. Also their customer service is excellent. I had some problems initially and they responded quickly and effectively. I highly recommend!

this app is by far the smartest, most intuitive AI language partner available. I’ve tried a number of similar apps with hefty marketing budgets and thousands of suspiciously-enthusiastic reviews - they don’t even come close. Langua is literally all you need to become fluent in a language. Compare it with anything else out there and you’ll understand.
