Wildly out of balance and hard to progress

Once you get to commander or higher it takes days to beat enough people to claim the next reward. You’ll be matched with opponents that way are stronger than you are. It’s too hard to level up your legendary monsters, it can take weeks to get another of the same cars or enough resources to trade them in. The time limits for placing monsters is too long and actual battles are too short, so you’ll have more monsters on the field but lose because the other person has something stronger and the clock hit zero. Make things more equal and I might try the game again.

P2W and they just enabled ads on literally almost everything

The game was always p2w, which I used to overlook because the gameplay was pretty fun. However, they recently enabled ads, now blocking many things which were previously free (and helped balance the p2w) behind either a paywall or watching a 60 sec ad. But not only that, now there’s popups asking if you want to watch an ad for so many things which used to not be there. Finished a match? Ad pop up. Daily match bonus? Ad pop up. Daily freebies in the shop went from 3 down to 1, unless, you guessed it, you watch an ad. If you don’t, you’ll see the constant notification showing you to watch an ad. Even for the events, where they used to give you one free event currency daily, it’s now locked behind an ad.

Disappointing Pay-to-Win Experience

Castle Duels has its moments, especially early on… which is why I believe CastleDuels has positive reviews. Ultimately, it falls short due to its monetization and lack of a balanced player base. The core gameplay revolves around collecting and upgrading cards to build battle power. However, upgrading anything requires a significant amount of money.

The real issue is the lack of active players. Once you reach a certain level, you’re either facing “whales” (players who spend a ridiculous amount of money) or overpowered, fake bots. The bots are so strong that your chances of winning become slim, making progression nearly impossible. Even if you spend money, the bots just scale higher, ensuring you lose regardless.

This game’s pricing is excessive, which has driven away most players. Despite reporting my frustration with the bots multiple times over the past few weeks, nothing has changed. As one of the few remaining players, I’ve finally had enough.

I strongly recommend avoiding Castle Duels. Save your time—and your money.

Pay to win

The game is very addictive but it is almost impossible to win. During many battles specially the ones like mirror match, were your opponent has the exact same deck as yours. My warriors were clearly stronger than my opponents’, I had higher battle power and extra developed golden warriors and still it was impossible to win.
It got so ridiculous I had to come here to leave a review. It looks like the game want you at a certain winning rate (which is LOW if you’re not spending any money) and will even manipulate your battles to make it possible.

You need a lot of money to be competitive

Overall the game is very good and addictive. However you have to buy some packs to be competitive, and the prices are not affordable. In addition, you have to watch several ads (some of them are very long) to be rewarded. I don’t mind to pay affordable prices for being competitive, but U$20-50 for a single pack is unbelievable high, considering that you get few legendary cards with this amount of money (of note, you can buy a Nintendo or PS game with less than this price)

Unbalanced/P2P

Decently fun, but the game is unbalanced. Every new character that comes out is P2P at first and super unbalanced. Once these characters come out for F2P there’s suddenly a “nerf” and a new character takes the spotlight for P2P players…. One character shouldn’t be able to single handedly take out your whole team on its own. You will need to pay at some point. They have the traditional “seasons” that you can purchase, but events are separate? So you’ll spend $15 for the season rewards and it’s another $15 if you want to participate in the event rewards. They’re also super scarce with gold and gems… another thing you’ll have to purchase if you ever want more of them quicker than weeks of playing. Just a few of the bigger things I’ve noticed out of the tons of red flags for a up and coming game.

Only Fun if You Pay to Win

I like the mechanics of the game, and i do enjoy playing HOWEVER, this game has a serious issue with people who have paid to completely upgrade their units. Also, they should balance it better and only have you fight people with similar level units, and also make some of the characters fair as certain characters are essentially a guaranteed win. The game also definitely intentionally cheats you from getting merges for whatever reason, what are the odds that when i spawn 15 units not a single one is the one i need? This game can be fun, but also infuriates me and i am constantly debating deleting it because its clear the devs are more interested in the profit than having a fair and balanced game for everyone.

Fun but slow game

There is way too much time allowed for the other player to get ready. Time should be moved to 30 seconds per round. Most players take advantage of this and let the whole minute and 30 wind down in hopes you get frustrated and quit the game. I am not playing this game anymore until something is done to fix this issue. Maybe new players need more time but once you reach a certain level you don’t need a minute and thirty per round. Please consider fixing and I’ll be back.

Pay to Win

I love these games seeing as I was playing Rush Royale Tower Defense for a long time before it became pay to win… and with Castle Duels latest update introducing Heroes, it seems this game is heading in the same direction… before long they’ll bring in equipment for each hero, as well as skill trees for each unit all of which is a different currency that’ll give you an edge in battle… I will say I’ll stay and enjoy the game in its current state in the meantime until they start dropping “deals” and “offers” left and right. Hoping and paying that never happens and this can remain my top game.

Fun but ads killed it

Been playing this for awhile and really liked it. It was fun to play F2P, not buying anything and no ads. This game was advertised as a no-as game and recent update as of Dec 17th 2024,they enabled ads for what used to be free dailies and chests. Immediately uninstalled and will no longer be playing it. I get needing ad revenue but not for me. Shame, cause it was a fun game. I played another game from the developer as well and quit that because of ads. It was the Tower Defense game, forgot the name. Similar concept to this one.

Game wise, it’s really fun. if you don’t care about ads now, then you’ll have a fun time. just be aware that you’ll spend at least 5 minutes in ads while playing and trying to get your daily gifts. It was hard enough to progress as a F2P, ads just made it tougher.

Very good, but could use some more content

If you’ve played Ludus, the core gameplay is kind of like that. However, this game feels more alive than that game, as your units actually cheer when defeating the last of your enemy’s troops, as opposed to Ludus as when the same thing happens, they just… stand there. MENACINGLY.

Also, I’ve noticed that your ads tend to be inaccurate. The gameplay in those tend to be akin to something like Bloons. And while I would call you guys out for false advertising… I’m not going to. There were a couple neat things in there that I think would be really cool.
First off, fusing different units. The ad demonstrated this by fusing a Cold and Surge Mage(actually just a reskinned Cold Mage) into a Storm Mage, and then doing the same thing with a Fire Mage(also a reskinned Cold Mage) and a Electron(the ad called it a Robot).

And THEN combining those two fused units into a Genie.

I think this could be a GAME CHANGER and could help you outlast your competitors. Sure, it might take a bit long with over two dozen units, but I think it’ll be worth it. Don’t knock it ‘til you try it, right?

Keeping it short and real

To be honest, this game, and rush Royale are better than 99% of the games on the market place. There is one contingency. Spend like 20$ every couple of weeks. But depending on how you live that might not be a problem and you can have unlimited fun

Great game

As a person who plays Rush Royale, this game is very fun. It’s not the same but has some of the same aspects of Rush. I just hope the Devs keep this game going good and put out good updates. As long as that happens I’ll continue to be a player. Been playing consistently for about a week now and I’m loving it.

Updates often but not too often

I like some of the new updates to this game. I’m excited about Blitz mode. I also think there ought to be full length games that have turns that “time out” in at least half the time. Some people take forever to play just one round! I also think there ought to be more characters, and it ought to be easier to collect them. But I also understand saving higher up characters for more experienced users. And it is fun trying to win them!

Are you prepared to have too much fun?

Don't download this game if you’re not already a basement dweller or not prepared to become one. I’m so invested l havent even showered since i started playing this game. All I’ve eaten is dinosaur shaped tendies and those microwavable meals with the penguin on them because there isn't time for anything else.

Exactly the same, but different

If you’ve played Ludus, this is nearly a perfect copy - BUT, I have to say that I prefer this version. There are guild events which Ludus has yet to implement, and I don’t feel like I lose or win based on one overpowered character. I also prefer the mirror matches where both players have the exact same deck. This version just feels cleaner.

Love the game

I love the game, but, just like rush royal I feel like the common cards need to be boosted or have some type of evolution to them. I don’t know if it’s just me but when I have a legendary at least 20 pp above the rest it doesn’t do as much damage as i would expect. Love the game but would like to see the common cards given a little more justice and even the power plus special abilities.

Balance

As balance is actively being looked at by devs, to which I greatly enjoy seeing how the game is changing over the short amount of time I’ve been playing, I still feel there are some balance adjustments to be made. Overall, really fun game to relax into. No strict competitions, no ads, can pay to win, but who cares when there’s no ads! People will play this game simply for that reason.
Ps the Armorer is broken

CPU mode

Very good game I give it a 5 star. Was wondering if there can be a CPU mode added? Sometimes I have to go do something but can’t just leave the match. If there were a CPU mode that could be paused until I return that would keep me very invested. Just an idea would be nice to still grind through the game but be able to pause if life has to take u away for a sec u can continue in the match where u left off. Besides that very good action packed fun game!

What? No annoying Ads, Say less!

I highly recommend the install. The gameplay is balanced and fun, no issues to report. And best of all, there are no annoying ads. The developers deserve support for creating such a great experience. Don’t hesitate to check it out!
