Useless

Only works in the path of totality.

Annoyed

I was only 70 miles from a total totality location so I went ahead and paid for the “pro version” guided countdown. I wish it had said before paying that you had to be WITHIN a totality area to have the paid version be worth it’s money. I got literally nothing from the pro version. Lucky it’s only 3$ but I feel like there should have been some more information. I would have been happy if I had even gotten a guided countdown for the closest totality area to me. I was looking forward to seeing all the features shown in the example and saw none at all instead. It was a waste of 3$ for where I was located. Would have been worth every penny if I had been in a different area.

It won’t open

Does not work on my iPhone

Only good in path of totality

Unfortunately, a pretty useless app unless you plan on being in the path of totality. Was hoping to enter our home location to get info on the eclipse. You can only enter places on the path of totality and nothing else

Timer using other apps DOESNT WORK

I just purchased this because this was one of the only apps I found that claimed to work while using other apps such as taking pictures. I used the simulator, as soon as I switch to my camera, I no longer heard any audio countdown like 10 seconds until or 1 minute until, etc. They only played when I had TheEclipseApp open. $3 wasted, minimal but I wish you would be honest about it. Hopefully others see my review and will know the truth truth so they can decide whether they want to purchase this for $3 aware that the timer will only give audio signals while TheEclipseApp is open

Buggy and over all bad UX

Cannot set a location either from the pin on the map or selecting a community. Doesn’t appear to let you search by address or enter lat/long coordinates. Given that the very basic premise of TheEclipseApp is not functioning, I can’t give it anything other than 1 - star. (I even “upgraded” to the pro version. Relatively small expense but insulting nonetheless).

Not able to use

This is not what I was expecting. You cannot use TheEclipseApp , unless you are in the path of totality. Most Americans are not in the path of totality, but would like information aboutViewing times, and other information from their location. This may work for some, but not for most.

Location of totality useful - clouds just plain wrong

The free version was just fine. However, I paid the $3 for the ‘live cloud forecast.’ It was not correct AND gave two different answers. My app said 15% clouds, my husband’s free app for same location said 80% clouds. So which was it? So ironically the extra $3 was a HUGE ripoff. If I had planned my location based on what I paid for, I would have missed the eclipse. Thanks a lot for nothing.

Addons 👎

Nice app but just another app attracting you in so you’ll pay the money for time countdown and cloud forecast.

Maddeningly deficient

Pro version.
No Google Maps integration on iPhone
No useful tools for navigating to minimal cloud cover.
General navigation and usability is poor. Plainly best default view would be map showing GPS location with visual cloud cover. Only cloud information is a single percentage number from a six hour prediction model.
It does provide milestone event times and countdown based on GPS but there must be a better mousetrap.

Worked great! Very Helpful

I wanted to thank you for creating such a useful app. We went to o an area unfamiliar yo us and having suggestions for parks and locations of events was so helpful. The fee for weather was well worth it. We found a lovely park we wouldn’t have known about and had a wonderful experience.

4/8/24

We used TheEclipseApp to determine exactly where we would go to see totality of the eclipse and TheEclipseApp worked like a charm! The info provided was accurate to the second and additional content so helpful! Thank you for aiding in an amazing experience!!!

Most helpful

I checked out a few apps and this was the most helpful app that I found.

Great resource for 2024 eclipse

We experienced the 2024 eclipse from Greenville, ME and TheEclipseApp helped us so much to know when each phase would begin. It was well worth the $3 upgrade to Pro. Thank you so much to the developers for such a useful app.

Great for cloud cover comparison

If you have more than one option regarding location for the eclipse, TheEclipseApp made comparing cloud cover forecast very easy. Thank you!!

Make sure you exit simulation mode!

If you run the simulation, make sure you hit the exit button or it will default to that until you fully exit the demo.

Worked great for me!

I used the cloud cover percentage estimations to change my itinerary right up to the last day. Originally planned to go to Ennis, TX, but the cloud cover jumped the last day, so I re-planned for De Queen, Arkansas. Ended up in Ola, Arkansas, and viewing was great!

Worked flawless! Highly recommend!!

We just used this for the total eclipse in Austin. It worked perfectly! Down to the second!! Thanks!!!!!

Totall(it)y worth the pro version.

Thanks for making TheEclipseApp. It brought us to the best possible location for the eclipse!

I never pay for pro versions, but I’ve loved it and it’s totally worth the small fee!

If you want a cloudless eclipse…

Then get TheEclipseApp! My goal for the 2024 eclipse is to go to where the least amount of cloud cover will be. TheEclipseApp shows all your potential spots with cloud coverage percentage! Nice to see them all on one page without having to search for each town you’re considering going to. Remember: one little rogue cloud flying by at the wrong time can totally mess up your eclipse view! See you in the town with the least amount of clouds on eclipse day!!

Great design

TheEclipseApp is super useful to people who want to plan to experience totality. Highly recommend!

It’s awesome

It’s awesome because it actually shows how many hours and days away! At the moment (6:32 PM) it’ll happen in 3 days and 18 hours!! I’m so glad I found TheEclipseApp. I was on the eclipse2024.org website and that’s how I found this and I’m so grateful

So much helpful and fun information!

I definitely geeked out at all the neat info provided through TheEclipseApp! I wasn’t sure if I could make it to a prime spot, but after spending some time checking out all the neat things going on I feel like I can’t not make it a priority to go!
So user friendly and it really is the best place to find the best place to go!

TheEclipseApp

Great Assistance

I was trying to find a good place to go with my family to see the April 8th Eclipse.
Jesse was a great help as was the Map they provide.
Thank you Eclipse Company!

remarkably well designed interface

I am a user interface designer. I have not submitted an app review in years, and yet I felt compelled to add this. While TheEclipseApp is a fairly simple app, it is extremely well designed - one of the very best I’ve seen: 1) it employs a very clever method to specify the location from which you’ll be viewing the eclipse, and 2) The crystal clear depiction of where the eclipse will be passing through your state is clever and clear. I love seeing great design – well done team.

Love this app for eclipse info!

This is a great app for lots of eclipse info. Easy to locate towns with a quick view of totality duration from the map list. If you expand further there’s so much info included. Easy to add viewing locations to then determine your prime spot.
In addition, the customer service was fantastic. Within a few minutes of asking to add some additional locations it was done. I also received a friendly email notifying me !
Get TheEclipseApp ! Don’t miss out on this historic event!!

Awesome app!

Great resource for the best view of the Eclipse, also very user friendly!

Great app, but one question

It’s a great app, but can it also work with lunar eclipses as well?

Excellent app and great service

I highly recommend it!

JS

TheEclipseApp is great. Very user friendly. I love the guided countdown for the town I chose. Glad I upgraded to the pro version. If you’re into the upcoming eclipse this is TheEclipseApp to have!

The best way to plan your eclipse experience

TheEclipseApp is so well-designed, with tools for finding a great eclipse spot and vibration-notifications to keep you informed during the experience.

Love the guided countdown and simulation features!

Amazing App!

I'm so glad I discovered TheEclipseApp. I was planning to find places where to enjoy and view the solar eclipse of 2024. The information on weather, totality duration, and events near each location was accurate. Great job for the developers of TheEclipseApp. TheEclipseApp was really helpful in my journey to find the best place to enjoy the eclipse, and I was satisfied with all the features and information. I hope TheEclipseApp works for the Solar Eclipse in 2026 in Iceland and Spain!!!
Thanks!!!!
I.
