I spent 30 minutes of my life playing this game, then I get a call on my phone, and the game freezes, I reopen the game and I’m back to the main area with skelly with all progress lost. This is not uncommon. If you do not plan to play the entire run right there and then, and you want to take a break, might as well kill the run because you will lose all your progress when you open it up again. If you don’t have at least an hour blocked out for the game, might as well never open it up. This game is fun but I don’t think i can be more mad right now with how many times this has happened to me restarting from beginning just because there is absolutely no saving any types of runs whenever you, god forbid, have anything else other than this game to do.

I love this game and would normally give it 5 stars but recently I’ve been having some trouble, such as losing progress and encountering bugs that don’t let me progress. Currently, I can’t progress because it doesn’t let me select a boon (for those who don’t know, this is a game mechanic where you make a choice between buffs and you can’t progress unless you choose) and because of this I literally can’t play the game because every time I start a run it prevents me from progressing. So as of now, the game is unplayable. I’m not sure if it’s because of an update but that’s my current situation. FYI, my game is updated and my phone is updated so I’m not sure what the problem

Update: I contacted support and It didn’t help; it’s very disappointing that this happened because I had over 100 runs and was about to reach the ending, and now my game or save is bugged and I can’t play, I believe the bug is due to the recent update that happened today so yeah 🥲

I played the game really often with nothing to complain about, I played for so so long and I reached the final boss, I saved to the cloud and left because I had to go somewhere, came back, kept trying but then had to leave mid fight, came back and if RESTARTED ME from the beginning, horrible saving system, doesn’t save for you, at least it didn’t for me, please fix saving systems and even if it says saved to cloud, it isn’t. I wish I could go back to boss as I spent so long to get there, also, the boons (power ups) I got and the effects and healing were perfect to the very point, which was why I got so far. Other than the annoyingly bad auto save it is an excellent game that I loved for so much, just don’t make the buggy mistake and you’ll keep loving the game, just for me I am likely to quit as I spent an hour+ on one run for all my resources and my chance to win gone for no reason at all.

The first time I played I was really impressed. Felt like a solid game, decent voice acting and story. But on the second day I played I got stuck on a screen for picking a Boon from Ares and can’t continue playing. You can’t even exit this screen for some reason and just skip picking the Boon. I can tap on everything that’s available, the codex, the menu, etc. I can highlight a Boon, but it won’t recognize the second tap activate it. Starting Hades over didn’t help either. At this point I’m too annoyed to try uninstalling and reinstalling because it seems to be a known bug that will happen again. Really odd this bug isn’t fixed. I guess the devs have abandoned this port. Shame.

I really enjoyed this game. Fantastic action, story, and worldbuilding. Unfortunately, I somehow lost hours of progress due to a buggy save system. I was in the middle of my best ever run and had just cleared a major boss. I did a cloud save and quit, then went to bed. This morning, I woke up excited to continue, but it loaded in the middle of a previous run, with hours of progress lost. No way to load a local save or recover the progress. Really demoralizing. I had around 15 hours of fun, but I was so frustrated that I deleted Hades . So, I recommend giving this game a try, but prepare yourself for heartbreak.

This game is so good when it comes to graphics, gameplay, etc. Voices are awesome, polished crystal clear game and i didn’t have no issues with the game freezing or acting up. I will say this is almost like a console game. The reason i gave 3 stars it’s because its just too difficult, you constantly lose and then you have to start from the beginning all over again which i absolutely despise when games do that. I can’t even defeat Meg which is literally the first boss. Its just insanely difficult and then having to start again from the beginning its just a terrible thing to do to a gamer. Unfortunately i do not have the patience or passion for this type of games. Its just incredible difficult, which ruins the fun.

If you haven’t played all of the games SuperGiant have made and I mean every single one, you are missing out!

Ive been playing this app since early access on epic and I bought it again on switch so yes it is as good as everyone says but this version doesn’t scale to fit bigger iPhones (iPhone 13) and it doesn’t let you sync your save from other copies you own, like pc, console and switch do, so I guess I will have to stick with the switch for my mobile this app fix, bummer 😭

Ps please add a graphic options most newer phones can handle it or at the very least add a resolution option,

Your probably gonna say why did i put a 3, thats because the game is phenomenal an amazing plotted game. The only wrong thing is that it crashes in the next 10 seconds after you load up. If they do fix this it would be amazing. Also put the game back in gamepass please😭 also when i tried to put a message to the support and they kept on asking the same question even though they said they don't need an answer for that.

Amazing game but deserves a controller for sure. I gave it 5 stars on day one for nostalgia but have lowered to 3 because the touch screen is simply not good enough for the precision needed to play this app. I’m sure some poor kids without a proper console or even steam with a controller will git gud at the iOS version. And I'm surely going to keep playing it on my phone. But if you are serious about this game you’ll need a 3rd party controller or play it on a platform that has a controller at the ready.

I haven’t found a channel through which I can report this issue, so I’ll do it here. When I got offered a boon from Zeus, and opened the codex to see compatibility between the gods the boon selection screen stopped working; I could tap on a boon to see its info but I can’t tap a second time to select it so I was practically stuck.

Edit: this issue was experienced after the 1.5 update, so I don’t know if anything has changed, but thank you for responding and caring. this app is my favorite game ever so it’s nice to have it on mobile, however it needs some work to be polished.

Biggest gripe is definitely that the game is still its original aspect ratio, cropped with black borders on the side of the screen instead of what’s advertised in the store page.

Not full screen on newer devices and you can’t even move the controls to place them on the sides of the screens (ie, the black bars) like other games do. This makes it very uncomfortable to play. Very disappointing.

(Update) Ugh, I FINALLY got past Meg, but does it matter? No. Because when you die, you have to start all the way back at the beginning again. Too much repetition. I'm done. (End update).
Really well done as a whole, graphics, voiceovers, gameplay, etc., though I have to say it gets frustrating/annoying dying from Meg over and over and over. 🙄 The worst problem I've found though is half the time I tap the dash button (on iphone), the game pauses because the system interprets the tap as activating the home button/bar at the bottom of the screen. Gets REALLY annoying. Also, I'm not sure if there are simply too many objects on the ground or something wrong with movement, but I frequently find myself stuck momentarily. Sometimes it does seem like an object in the way, because if I try to move in a slightly different direction, I can. But other times I have to lift my thumb and put back down to move again. It could still just be me, but it's hard to tell. That in itself though is really an issue - I SHOULD be able to tell - the fact I can't always indicates (if it IS just me) either there are just too many obstructions on the ground or some are too hard to see.

It’s honestly not awful it’s a pretty good port it’s just the controls are a bit rough for me at least dashing feels like there’s a delay and the joystick isn’t a part of the UI it’s one of those where it only appears when you have your finger on the screen so that’s just a personal gripe of mine but the game runs well it’s just the controllers are a hindrance to my personal enjoyment

This port is largely great, but is lacking in a couple things:

The game doesn’t allow you to play any external music/sound while Hades is running. Try to play music from somewhere else (even if the game’s sound is at 0), and it’ll be turned off automatically. This should be changed - I love the care that was put into the music and voice acting of the game, but as someone who’s finished this game several times, I’d love to be able to listen to something else while playing this game. Related, the game audio doesn’t play when you’re not wearing headphones (at least with my iPhone).

Also, the game isn’t currently saving mid-run, and if I ever have to leave the application, I have to start back in the House of this app. Updating the quick-save functions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This game looks and plays beautifully even on my IPhone 12 max. 60fps, amazing on battery life, it sounds great, and looks gorgeous!! No stutters or dropped frames at all!

The touch controls leave something to be desired for the fast paced actions, but that is to be expected and it’s still fully customizable!

The one big bummer is that it’s not fullscreen! Come on guys! The notch and Dynamic Island are nothing new. Come up with a clever way around it. Don’t give us black bars. The joystick is dynamic, and the boons are already away from the non-useable space, so just make the game display fullscreen. Super random that it’s not already.

Game is great, performance great without even getting hot. Especially like that game is saved at each encounter so that if you are interrupted and Hades falls out of active memory, you don't lose anything...

...unless you trigger a crash. If you attempt to play music or audio in the background from another app, it seems to work but gets glichy and eventually hangs. This happened twice in a row trying to accept a boon. Crashing twice in a row seems to trigger an anti-cheat or anti-corruption mechanism. Starting up again lands you back in the House as if the run never happened. Frustrating but luckily it's rare. iPhone 11 pro with Backbone controller.

I love this app since it first released and the first time I tried it on the Nintendo switch but I’m having one MAJOR issue on my iPhone which is when I go to pause the game for a minute to do something else and return to the game it starts me all the way over from the beginning. It’s frustrating to make it almost all the way to the end with power ups that are typically harder to get (duo’s) and just end up losing everything and having to start all the way over again. That seems to be the only issue I’ve ran into so far which to me is a huge one considering it’s happened about 6 times to me so far and we all can’t sit and play for 45-1hr straight everytime without pausing the game in hopes to not lose our progress…

I’ve had a lot of fun playing this these past couple days. I’ve played it on Xbox and the move to mobile devices was actually a really smooth one in my opinion. Everything ran just as good or even better than I would have thought!

But one bug that I have experienced on my iPhone 14 is, whenever I start having audio run in the background while I play, the game seems to freeze up shortly after and I have to restart Hades . I can’t have any background play at all without the game freezing and crashing shortly after I start it, so that is the one problem I have seen. Other then that, I appreciate everything yall have done to bring this experience to mobile devices!

This port is fun, addictive, and overall would recommend. The controls are not great. How could they improve them? No clue. I know the button layout well enough to know I’m hitting attack, special, or dash…but I’ll still see my cast get thrown out randomly. And there have been plenty of times I dash in the wrong direction, or I’m not moving my thumb far enough to keep running after the dash due to no physical input due to it being a flat piece of glass. My best run as been special spear build w/ doom, extra dash w/ Poseidon damage, and 2 revives. It pretty much removed the issues I had with controls because no matter what control issue that popped up, I’m doing damage and not taking any. Still threw cast even during a calm encounter…

I have beaten the game multiple times on my other console for this game and I can say that it has transferred amazingly. The game still looks stunning and it runs great.

My only issue with the game is with 2 of the weapons. The bow and gun(also shield bull rush), I personally think aiming with the left joystick feels really janky and weird to control. I think I solution to fix this is instead of aiming with the left joy stick you could aim with your right shooting button and it would make a lot more sense. If not change it for all players at least make it an option for other players who don’t like it the way it is right now.

Other than that one complaint, this game is fantastic on and off console so I just can’t wait to see where the development team brings this game and this app 2!

I was nervous of if a port of a fast past rogue-like could translate well to IOS after having enjoyed it so much on consoles and I can say that… I was right- but it’s still a fantastic port. Only real “solvable” problem with this port I can find thus fast would be how sometimes chargable actions (like your basic attacks with most weapons) can sometimes get stuck when you are trying to move immediately after or during said charged actions, so you do have to get in the habit of not touching ANYTHING after a touch action for a second- but other than that, a great port of a great game!

I LOVE this app and I love being able to play it on my phone, however I found that there’s an unfortunate bug that causes the game to freeze. I just had to delete and redownload to try and save my game file because every time I started a new run, I would be stuck on a boon list in the first room. Clicking on a boon didn’t work, which kept the screen up, therefore making it impossible to actually play the game. I tried exiting and closing Hades , but this also did not work.
Unsure if there’s already a way to get around this bug, but hopefully my data is still there when the game finishes downloading again!
this app is one of the best and well thought out games I’ve played though. Art and music is phenomenal and I could get trapped playing it for hours because of how fun it is.

I’ve had this problem a few times now.
In the middle of a run, the game will just pause and then prevent me from touching or interacting with anything. Afterwards, it’ll crash and I’ll lose all my run progress, sometimes this happens at the begging of runs but most times it happens right before or during the final boss fight (trying to avoid giving spoilers). It’s really upsetting. Otherwise, I am totally addicted and the story is just on point. Iam thinking of just going God mode at this point because the story is extremely hard to advance with this bug happening, especially on runs that develop the story.

It’s amazing game with good combat and a beautiful art style. But I can’t handle the saving anymore, I constantly come back to half the stuff I worked on gone because it died and I didn’t hit a stupid sync button. I honestly love this game and have been waiting for something like it but it’s already hard enough with weird controls that don’t work sometimes. I just wish it would autosave more regularly and have a load option. But who cares ( Only me bc I love 439 darkness bc the game didn’t save)

Using a DualSense controller via Bluetooth on an iPad Pro M2 and the game audio will cut out + controller no longer work when Zag says certain voice lines during gameplay. You’ll then see the voice line subtitle stuck on-screen for a time.

Only way to fix this is to force quit the game and relaunch. Especially bad during combat as you’ll just stop dead in your tracks and take a bunch of hits…lost quite a few runs this way.

Once these bugs are resolved…this will be a 10/10 for me just like when I put in hundreds of hours on PS5 :)

The thought about buying this game for my Switch but since I get it free through my Netflix prescription I don’t have to. One complaint I have is that when trying to listen to anything else music audiobook or even ironically enough Netflix without the thing bugging out. The sound cuts out in the loading screen which is fine happens in other apps but if something else is playing and sound comes from the game then the screen freezes up like a game screen from the 90s. Not a big issue more a personal peeve really.

Every run my dualsense (ps5) controller stops responding for approximately 5 seconds and Zagreus will run in a straight until he collides with the environment and stops. This happens a few times every run. It’s killed me a couple times. Also it would be nice if the game supported the native resolution/aspect ratio of the iPad. The black bars on the top and bottom of the screen are kind of annoying.

I am so thrilled to have this app on my phone and iPad! It is one of my favorite rogue-like games and I can’t wait to play on the go! It has everything the pc version has and even has full controller support! The only drawback is that it does not have cross platform cloud saving. I would love to be able to have access to my steam cloud save for this app. The only flaw in an otherwise perfect port! Get that cross platform cloud save going and it 5 stars for me!

I don’t know how to report a bug without writing a review so I’m just going to write it here . I don’t know why but whenever you select the menu button whenever you get a boon ,the gifts you get from the gods during your runs, it doesn’t allow you to pick one of the perks anymore for whatever reason which i thought was a harmless bug until i released that the game doesn’t save your current run once you close Hades and restarted me from the beginning I just wanted to report this bug so the team can figure out how to fix it.

Please adjust resolution for full screen!
Another (highly recommended) request is to remove the control placement limitation boundaries. I play with triggers on top of screen and buttons are currently not allowed to be placed up top

The game is overall great but as someone else mentioned while playing in my iPhone 14 I experienced having the game freeze when ever I had any audio or video in the background I hoped you could fix this problem but the game is great you did a good job making it.

I’ve loved this app since it came to Xbox game pass a year or two back but I sadly was never able to beat it. Now that’s it’s on Netflix games I’ve been able to hop back in and I’m addicted. I’ve done 32 runs and have beaten the game 6 times and just love it.

Although one absolute major problem that I keep running into that completely ruins runs for me is that when I’m in the menu to pick a boon from a god and I go into the codex screen it breaks the game by not allowing me to select a boon, forcing me to restart the game. I’ve had great runs be ruined by this glitch. This is the only thing holding back a five star review, if the glitch can get fixed then I will happily make the review five stars.

EDIT: SYNC AND QUIT WHEN YOU GET OFF AND YOU WILL NOT LOSE YOU PROGRESS DUMMIES. Despite the above comment it is a great port but the thumb joystick needs some work. I find my self getting stuck moving in one direction a lot. A controller is highly recommended and also if you have a small phone good luck. Its hard to see because everything is so small. Probably better on a tablet with a controller. All in all a good port. This isn’t a game you want to have to pay a subscription to play though its a game you put time into and need to own. AGAIN PUTTING THIS ON NETFLIX WAS A HUGE MISTAKE.

Incredibly high quality Port of an already amazing game, however it’s missing some features to really make it perfect for iPhone:

-MORE HAPTIC FEEDBACK-
I’ve only noticed my phone vibrate when I pet Cerberus, but the iPhone’s haptics should be further utilized to counteract the small screen size on things like: Fishing sites being discovered, Chaos gates opening, etc.

-ALTERNATIVE AUDIO-
I (and many others) like to play roguelikes with other music/podcasts in the background. The iOS app disables all other audio sources, so this isn’t possible. Not too bad considering the award winning soundtrack, but more options would be nice.

-WEAPON-SPECIFIC CONTROL SCHEMES-
The port’s control customizability is already great, but the ability to automatically switch control schemes based on your weapon would be very convenient. An option in the control settings would be easy enough
ex: “Control Layout #” could have a checkbox that says “Enable Layout For: ‘X Weapon’ “.

Before I knew it, I had put over 100 hours on this game on PS5. The mobile version is shockingly good and is essentially the same experience if you have a controller. It is playable with touch controls surprisingly, but much better with controller. I wish there was a paid version outside of being a Netflix subscriber.

10/10. I love this game, I have about 150 hours on the steam version and was very excited when the mobile version was announced. There is one small issue with this version. If you try to listen to music or watch a video while you’re playing the game, it crashes. Other than that, this port is pretty good.

i am a huge fan of supergiant, i love all they do. i had some nerves about this being transferred to the phone, but its extremely good. the three main things that need work are the sensitivity of the control pad (i have deadzone all the way up and the pad is still jumpy and erroneous), and the save system. ios these days refreshes every single app whether you fully close out of it or not, or even just locking it. i had to lock my phone (didn't even close Hades !) in the middle of almost beating this app. i kinda hoped it would still be where i was when i unlocked my phone, but felt certain, at least, the only thing i would have to start over is the this app fight, but nope. it restarted the entire run, even though i had saved twice in the run. please fix this! also, please let us at least play audio while in Hades . ideally i could also have bg videos, but at least let me listen to music or podcasts while playing.

So happy to have a full port of the amazing game! It runs great and looks as good as always. Works just as well with a controller. Best roguelike on mobile!!

I have many hours put into this app on the playstation 5, and it’s a blast. Unfortunately, their cloud gameplay isn’t well, especially with touchscreen controls. Well with this, I can finally play this app on the go. I don’t have all of my progress from the ps5, but that is not a big deal to me. This running off the hardware of my iPhone is perfect. Great resolution and details running at 60fps with no performance issues. I’m grateful for being able to play this on my iPhone without cloud streaming. A cool idea would be cross save from playstation, pc, wherever, but not a big deal.

This games just great in every conceivable way. The combat is exciting, the music is exhilarating, the art is beautiful, and the world and characters are interesting. I love everything about this game. I’ve never played a rougelike before but this one is easily my favorite one out there. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy the control scheme being on a touch screen because in the past most big games I’ve played on mobile I tend disregard on account of the unorthodox control scheme. But the game actually controls quite better then I would have ever expected. In fact it feels strangely natural while I played the game. I’m glad I finally got to play this game and see what all the hype was about because it’s truly easily become one of my favorites. Can’t wait to see what the sequel has in store when that releases. Amazing work Supergiant!
And if Netflix continues to impressively port great games on to mobile I will haft to give them a try as well.

I played this app on PS and loved it. I am happy to play this on my phone again.

As many people already mentioned, saving progress is spotty. I had synced before quitting, but when I restarted the game it said the slot has colliding data (cloud and device saved at the same time) and I have to choose one. Now I know the answer that you should always choose ‘cloud data’ between the two identical data because you will lose progress otherwise. It was frustrating to learn this after losing a few runs. (One time, I was pretty early on in my save file, and my zag was at home after making an escape, maybe a 7th or an 8th one. I lost that win because of this glitch…)

Another thing I saw a few times is everything running at 0.1x (???) speed. Since everything is slow it is easy to stop (sync and quit) without taking damage, restart Hades , then play the game normally. So this is just a bit annoying.

I just noticed a new thing where opening and closing the codex when choosing boons disables selecting any boon or even the reroll. I can hit once but not twice. When the reroll is hit once, this icon 🔄 disappears, and it does not respond to the second hit. As you know there is no save during boon selection, so I guess I’m just stuck here, and I will have to see how the save file turns out after I force quit.

Overall, I am a fan of this port but it’s not the best.

The game is great, the fact that it can be played offline is even better, but there are a few issues with the port. The first issue is the difficulty of doing charge attacks like the spear spin or shield bash on mobile, potentially another button for those weapons would be helpful. Secondly, when looking at boon options, you can’t check your notebook, as that makes you unable to do anything. This is annoying when looking to see which boons are prerequisites for others, and makes completing some quests difficult. Other than those two things, great game and port, still 5/5.

Thank you Netflix! There are so many good indie games out there that I knew …without a doubt…that could be ported to tablets but for some reason…they wern’t. Then Netflix comes to the rescue and ports these games to mobile..thank you Netflix. I already had dead cells on iOS before you released it but…I’ve said for years that this app could be a mobile game and here comes Netflix …doing what others wern’t willing to do. If you wouldn’t mind I’d like to request a game to be ported to mobile….risk of rain…it’s a popular indie game that I’m sure you could port. Once again Netflix …thank you.

I _love_ this game but I just ran into a bug that is making it nearly unplayable for me. I have always used the dynamic joystick but that option vanished today and now I am stuck with the static joystick.I _just_ discovered(it occurred to me that it should be possible and I found how to do it while writing this) that I can move the static joystick location which makes it much less problematic, but I still miss my dynamic joystick. May I have it back, please? To sum up, I love this game!

Edit: the developer got back to me and pointed out an in-game support feature I have not noticed.

I never got around to playing this app on the PC nor home consoles. Although I heard amazing things and liked the visual style, I’m just not the biggest fan of the roguelike genre. Luckily for me, I noticed this app had recently released on Netflix for mobile. I have to say, the game is much better than I thought.

I own a BackBone controller for my iPhone 15 Pro Max. Controlling this app with it is pure quality. The feeling of playing this on my iPhone with BackBone is something akin to a Nintendo Switch. It is so responsive and feels so dang good. I hope to beat this game in time for this app 2. Now that I have seen how great this game is, I’m thinking it’ll be a day one purchase.

Not the biggest fans of roguelikes vut i did enjoy dead cells a bunch on ps5. So i get the niche. this app had always been on my top on my list of roguelikes to play because i saw so many reviews of how fun it was. So when it was ported here to ios i took the gamble even though ios is harder to control and for a roguelike. Small input errors could mean life or death. Wow was i surprised. The Controls work well (outside of my joystick sometimes not catching my thumb). I rarely get addicted to games on my phone but this one has me hooked! Can only imagine how smooth this game is on console because this ios port is great imo.

I first got this app when I was still and it’s beta stages and then I knew that it was going to be a great game. Thank you Netflix for bringing this awesome game to mobile for more people to enjoy the story and the exhilarating gameplay. Can't wait for the sequel

Played through the game completely on Xbox, and so far it’s the same great experience.

The touch controls feel really good to use as well.

Perfect game for on the go with how quick the runs go, and if you need to put it down you can sync data to the cloud and exit a run at any time from the pause menu.

Strongly recommend if you haven’t played it before or if you have already since it’s fun to put the old muscle memory to the test to see how good you do without any of the end game buffs.

It’s probably one of the best games available on iOS and Netflix.

i originally played this game on the switch, and its phenomenal. everything is just amazing about this app, one of my favorite games.

my only complaint is that there is no ability to do a data transfer from other consoles onto the netflix version.

I love that they brought this to iOS. I play it all the time it’s really fun! My only issue is that the dash is awkward, it’s not easy to dash then attack. If you play with a controller there’s no issue. I still give it a 5 stars because it fully deserves it, fun game play, excellent story and characters.

Netflix, y'all did a great job delivering this to us on our phones! It's so great to take this app with me wherever I go; I can tackle a few chambers and then save and come back to it later. Touch controls are pretty decent; to any new players, I would recommend locking the joystick.
To the developers: the community has been having a problem where it locked us out at random points from selecting a boon and we have to restart our runs! And a lot of times the only fix is to choose a different weapon. Could you fix that?

If I’m being honest, there is no problem that I have with this game. The visuals are still the same from the console version. The boss fights are always great to do the one thing I struggle with this game. It’s just that there is no controller support. I wish I could play the game with an external controller with instead of using, the touchscreen controls because the touchscreen is somewhat small and my input most of the time

AMAZING GAME/PORT ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC

I had played this on console before, but it has been some time indeed. Saw it came out on netflix, i knew i had to dive in! In my opinion, it works perfectly as a mobile game. Although, i experience an issue, sometimes when im picking a boon, i cant double tap. As if the second tap isn’t registering, thus locking me on the boon deciding screen. Hopefully gets fixed, besides that, fantastic!
