I’m trying to keep an open mind with this Everand x this app merger.
Frankly, as a user, it is extremely inconvenient to browse content on two different apps, when it used to be on one app. Navigating my “saved” items has been a nightmare. Here are some examples:
I look for a “document” on this app, but can’t find it. Hop over to Everand, and find it there (turns out it was an “E-Book). Then I look for “sheet music’ on Everand, and again, can’t find it until I switch over to this app, and see that the “sheet music” was actually technically a “document”. Are you following my logic? Fellow users, can we relate?
Also underscored is the inevitable feeling that these two services, currently covered under one subscription to this app, will eventually be two separate subscriptions (hopefully us founding users will be grandfathered into 1 sub).
I would love to know the real reason for this change. My guess is either copyright issues (e-books being pirated as “documents” on this app), or financial issues (joining forces with other companies to compete with Audible / Kindle). Because let’s be clear, the fact that the segregation of content actually makes it EASIER for users (as they claimed), is fundamentally untrue.
I actually have empathy for whatever reason forced this app’s hand on this new direction. I proudly endorse this product as a superior alternative to Kindle and Audible. That being said, the execution and lack of transparency is disappointing.
