Scribd Forces me to Subscribe when I Already Have a Subscription

After the switch to two separate products, this app doesn’t honor my current subscription to Everand/this app. Even with the 84.99 yearly subscription already paid, it keeps forcing me to subscribe. Please fix this.

Not a good company

Stole 11.99 from me. They took it out of my account. ….didn’t give me my product… Im going to tell the bank if I can’t get a hold of them to not pay this out.

What type of SCAM!?

I downloaded “this app” , yes it does give you a bunch of books / audios you can read. When I signed up for the trial, I made sure to sign up and cancel right away so I wouldn’t forget. This was in September. It even showed up in my subscriptions as expired. Then I had two charges made, one in October and one in November. I decide to go into Scribd to contact the company for refunds and I couldn’t find Scribd … because it had turned into “Everand” !?! But then there’s also this new “this app” that looks just like the old one??? This is sketchy. Be ware that that free trial, isn’t going to be free. I wish apple would let me show pictures of both these accounts + the expired trial notification & charges.

Keeps logging me out

I am on the free trail and give me error message and kicks me out. It’s been an issue all day. I uninstalled and cleared settings. Still issues. Says to contact support but gets closed out each time I try to put my email.

I’ve Always Been a Fan of Scribd

I loved the original this app, and yes it split into two separate companies, this app and Everand, very recently, which I’m sure was for a very good reason, at least enough for the company to make such a big decision.

It seems that a lot of people are so far unhappy with the big change, but please read on. I hope my experience will inspire you to give the company a chance at least until it gets back on its feet.

One MAJOR IMPROVEMENT I see on Everand (where the audiobooks and ebooks are now) is that I no longer seem to be dealing with errors when it comes to trying to listen to certain audiobooks that used to give me the persistent errors claiming that I’ve exceeded the number of devices I’ve been listening to the audiobook on. I would go through all the troubleshooting (i.e. check for the said devices on my account only to find nothing, delete and redownload Scribd , update Scribd , sign out and sign back into Scribd , contact support) all to no avail. It seemed that the problem WAS bigger as even the troubleshooting steps provided by this app’s GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE team didn’t work. For this, I’M THANKFUL ‘cause NOW, I can finally listen to my audiobooks without the dreading feeling of, “Is it gonna play this time? Or am I gonna have to troubleshoot again for the next 20+mins?” I’m guessing that this issue (as I wasn’t an isolated case here upon me looking into the issue) may be one of the key points in the decision-making process. As for now, since they’ve barely started with the 2 apps, I am genuinely excited and will look forward to more updates in the near future. this app has been my favorite audiobook/ebook service (in many ways I prefer it over Kindle/Audible) and I’ve been a customer for a couple of years so I’ve seen and experienced the changes and growth. I would like to see more of what they have in store for us.

No audio book option anymore

What happed to the audio books. I don’t like the format. I don’t see any audio book options with this new update. I am a paying customer. Please fix this now.

it's not scribd, it's you

I don't understand people who think uploading here is free for the world. it itsn't. I don't understand why people upload pdfs to somewhere that asks money for people to download!

Shockingly bad

For some strange reason Scribd is now just a pipeline of illegal content... they spun off the “legit” audiobook / ebook service (to an equally terrible app).

Where is My Stuff?

I’m trying to keep an open mind with this Everand x this app merger.

Frankly, as a user, it is extremely inconvenient to browse content on two different apps, when it used to be on one app. Navigating my “saved” items has been a nightmare. Here are some examples:

I look for a “document” on this app, but can’t find it. Hop over to Everand, and find it there (turns out it was an “E-Book). Then I look for “sheet music’ on Everand, and again, can’t find it until I switch over to this app, and see that the “sheet music” was actually technically a “document”. Are you following my logic? Fellow users, can we relate?

Also underscored is the inevitable feeling that these two services, currently covered under one subscription to this app, will eventually be two separate subscriptions (hopefully us founding users will be grandfathered into 1 sub).

I would love to know the real reason for this change. My guess is either copyright issues (e-books being pirated as “documents” on this app), or financial issues (joining forces with other companies to compete with Audible / Kindle). Because let’s be clear, the fact that the segregation of content actually makes it EASIER for users (as they claimed), is fundamentally untrue.

I actually have empathy for whatever reason forced this app’s hand on this new direction. I proudly endorse this product as a superior alternative to Kindle and Audible. That being said, the execution and lack of transparency is disappointing.

Better than the rest

I am so glad to have stumbled upon Scribd! I have used Audible, kindle, Google/Apple books/podcast apps. this app/Everand outdoes them all. There is nothing that compares. It's a one-stop “shop” for Audiobooks, e-books, digital newsprints, magazines, podcasts, blogs, pdf documents (my favorite feature), and more. A person can upload a document, such as worksheets, study guides, or even sheet music, for others to access. Pretty much anything I have ever seen in print I have been able to find on this site. There are no credits or pay-per-book. You can save books to your library, customize and organize different folders, and download your reading for offline viewing. Hands down one of the best apps I have found. Well worth the subscription!!

SCAM

Before it split with Everand. It was a great app. Now they claim to be unlimited but won’t let you listen/ read more than two books in a month.

By

Love this app for reading documents

this app is great for browsing and reading documents across subjects like health, research and even cooking (my favorite).

Note: I am a this app employee

Worst app to mankind

nothing is opening, NOTHING! only th eloading screen for all of the pdf’s and then will ask you to buy membership to “download” the files so that you can read. wow you’re so smart really.

Please help me cancel Scribd/subscription today
How do I cancel. I am an elderly person on a fixed income and didn’t mean to sign up. Please please please help me cancel this

Not understanding

Way, with my iPad and iPhone, do I have to pay for two accounts when I have the same Apple? I could understand if I was using it multiple times. However, for one person, it is almost worth one star.

What has happened ? “I’m not a robot”

I’ve been asked to sign back into my account from Scribd . I’ve tried several times, but I am unable to. From my iPhone, it’s hung up on the “I’m not a robot”. What is the fix or is there an update that will fix this

By

Won’t let you delete your account

First they make you subscribe just to get the one document you need. Then they bank on you forgetting about it.

Then you cancel your subscription but won’t let you delete your account for a month. Screw you you snakes. I almost deleted my one star review until your “customer support” emailed me back with deletion request and it was a garbage ai email telling me how to cancel my subscription.

Again screw you you snakes. Taking advantage of busy people so they sneak our dollars out the back door when we’re not looking and won’t let you leave once you’re stuck.

inconvenient

Was not what I was looking for. The documents I needed, I was able to find online, for free. Tried to cancel my free trial. Was unable to cancel. Reached out to support. They explained that they do not support Apple. Had to contact Apple to fix the issue. Their description of supporting iTunes is false.

Cost me $

Before the change with Everand I needed certain pieces of music at a moment’s notice and most every piece of sheet music wouldn’t load. Even though I was paying for the use of music through Scribd, I had to purchase the music from another source to use. This in the end cost me over $100. I had to delete Scribd , re-install it, and start all over downloading every bit of my sheet music again. I messaged back and forth for months and they couldn’t figure out the problem. When I made it known that their issues cost me lots of money, they couldn’t care any less. They offered no compensation for my troubles. Customer care was useless.

Just luv

It’s almost a perfect digital library literally in your pocket. I’m pretty sure there is something in your category if not 100s of others. This may be the best app on the planet and it’s so underrated

By

Scam

I canceled my subscription 4 months ago and have been charged every month since. I have reached out multiple times with absolutely no response. Worst part is they don’t save when you file a report so there is no evidence that I even filed a report. As a broke college student I thought this would be a great application for me but it has caused me so much stress and money.
