App crashes too often when trying to upload a file
Supported their LaserPecker 4 campaign on kickstarter, and that was the biggest mistake I ever made. Waited 5 months longer than they predicted to ship the machine. 8 months later I’m still waiting for my air purifier. To make it worst after waiting so long and giving them my money, LaserPeckerDesignSpace does not work properly. Sent them a detail video email about what is going on, was not helpful at all. Now the shadiest part is now they are pushing a newer laser after collecting and closing their campaign on kickstarter, rather than fix the software for their existing customers. Every other review on here is bad also, should have gone with Xtool!
First, multiple slide extension takes multiple tries to upload to the laser. It will initially only load one file and you have re-upload it a couple of times in order for it to work, killing productivity. You can’t batch engrave anymore with this function either so if you try to load and engrave directly from the LP4 now, it will only do the first file in the group.
Second, G-Code is misaligned to the preview. I’ve tried on multiple files, unplugged the machine etc. G-code that was once flawless, is now practically useless.
Third, rotary dimensions are way off. I have to decrease by at least 7 millimeters in order to get close to a proper rotation.
Fourth, the power and depth have been overall changed, this is inconvenient for those of us who learned the machine and need consistent production.
This is unacceptable software for a ≈$2500 hardware.
I had the LP2, and was pretty happy with what that little laser could do, so I decided to splurge and get the LX1MAX, and it has been nothing but headaches from the purchase date. The latest update in LaserPeckerDesignSpace now just disconnects every time I try to load an SVG file into the design space. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME! So the only thing that my very expensive paper weight can do at this point, is engrave or cut designs made within the VERY limited design space. There isn’t even a duplicate button for crying out loud! DO BETTER!
Absolutely a waste of time for this program the end effort put into such a good looking hardware device.
DO NOT USE THIS PROGRAM>. And i dear say.. do not buy LaserPecker hardware.
It keep crashing during uploading files, also it disconnects a lot from the machine and it reset the design. Bad thing that it doesn’t have a WiFi network. Will be returned and go with x tool F1!
What is this that I see all these bad reviews and only one star rating I haven’t even taken my LX one out of the box yet so disappointing to see you. Mess with the good apps and try to do something with the design space app that just makes everything worse, fix it we all have a lot of money invested in you, LaserPecker
Just now I tried to open LP DS and it required me to choose between sharing excessive info and not sharing it. When I pick not sharing, LaserPeckerDesignSpace crashes. LaserPecker, please stop this stupidity. If I have to share stuff you don’t need, you can just lock your doors and throw away the keys.
The software limits the ability of the laser I do not recommend either. I have worked with this laser for over a year and a half, and it is less than adequate due to the software to work correctly
It was OK at best. Then released 5.4.5 and it broke the rotary tool. Just rotates back and forth over 1 inch no matter what setting. Back and forth with “support” had to send video of issue. Replied thanks we see it and will release an update 7/25. Well that didn’t happen and it is still not functional. No ability to return it. Seeking relief from PayPal. Heard Lightburn is an alternative but paying more money to use a basic overpriced tool seems ridiculous. Basically useless, luckily I might be able to return the cases of water bottles I had purchased for an event that because of this failed software/device has since passed without the fun swag I was going to donate.
Day 1. Things OK, but software upgrades, weekend the power, and changed settings….it’s like starting all over with poor performance. I would never buy again. If I was rich, I’d smash this junk with a hammer…..
LP4 was much better and easier to connect to, LP5 cannot connected to my iPad no matter what I tried. I’m reconsidering this product. I recommend not to purchase the LP5 because of the issues that were facing.
This program doesn’t support DXF files or trace images. This program is pointless as a decent program for laser engraving. If you just want to put names on trinkets, it’s fine. Nothing more.
When I first got it and tried it out it worked some what okay. Today it says unsupported firmware but I made sure it’s updated and still nothing what a waste of money and time
So frustrating to actually master the settings on something… Specifically, a YETI, then have an update change them – – and have to start over testing, at 30 bucks for the “try”… do better, guys!
Happy to test your LP5, after the host of fails on purchased LP2 & LP4 wasted projects… and will happily update the review, as soon as solutions are offered!! 🫡🙂
The design functions are nice but, once the parameters are determined and fixed, there needs to be a de-featured app for repeat engravings, The ‘repeat’ function does not provide for a new preview prior to engraving which is essential for alignment of objects that vary in size and shape.
The only way to use this software is to edit in another program, take a screenshot of the b/w image, and upload it. The system works but there are a lot of bugs and it seems like support has ended.
After a great experience with LP2 (which was easy to use right out of the box) I bought an LX1 to increase the size of engraving. No matter how good the LX1 may prove to be, LaserPeckerDesignSpace is Absolutely Terrible!!!
