Nice hardware, the app is terrible

RingConn does not offer something like a recovery score/readiness to train metric. One easy fix: they could write the HRV data to Apple Health, as Ultrahuman and other rings do. This would allow us to use any of the many apps like Bevel that track recovery on iOS. The developer said they would add this ability in April 2025 but they still haven’t as of July 2025. They could do this with the simplest software change since they clearly have the beat to beat heart rate data needed to calculate SDN, RMSSD, or any other standard HRV metric. They haven’t done this so instead what you have here is a glorified sleep tracker. If that is all you need RingConn is fine. But many of us buying a device like this are looking for a recovery monitoring tool as middle aged athletes. It’s incredible that this app can create such a complex piece of hardware, successfully I would add, and release such a half baked, useless app that has zero data integrations with outside services like Strava. Bummer. Will return this if feature isn’t added soon.

Heart Rate Data Presentation is Worthless

I really wanted to like this ring and RingConn . However, it has a major flaw. The heart rate data presented is generally the “average” and ranges, as opposed to resting heart rate. Average heart rate is completely meaningless. Nobody cares about that.

Resting heart rate is the key measure, and this should be easily viewable to compare the daily resting heart rate over a week, month, and year in the Trends section of RingConn . Instead, the Trends section shows average, minimum, and maximum, which is not very useful. The resting heart rate should be presented - just see how Fitbit does it, which is simple and perfect.

Resting heart rate shows up at just one place, and it does not present as a trend. Further, it does not look very accurate.

A more minor complaint is the y axis in the heart rate chart in the Vital Signs portion of RingConn . Why on earth would the y axis scale go down to 30 beats per minute? Nobody has a rate like that. Instead, the scale should adjust for the actual ranges, like it does in the Trends section of RingConn . At least the Trends section gets this part correct.

These should be easy fixes for you to make. Otherwise, RingConn is not helpful.

Thank you.

Pretty good app, but processes in cloud

This is a pretty good app overall, but the thing which concerns me is that it processes data in the cloud. We are told that the data is secure, which I have no reason to question, but I also have no way to confirm. Furthermore, the bigger issue is that if the company decides to stop cloud support or if the company goes out of business (and cannot afford to pay for the servers), then we may no longer be able to get meaningful data from our rings (as the data is processed in the cloud). One way to fix this would be to include an option to process all data locally on our mobile devices in-app, without sending any data externally. Until that time, I have to rate this 2/5 stars. If such a feature is ever added/changed, I will gladly update this to 5/5 stars.

App could be much better

As far as this app vs Aura, my wife has Aura, and there isn’t much of a difference, both apps are ok. For workouts, stick with a watch - The this app app is no where near as great as the Apple Watch - it does not organize the date into an easy to read summery, but the data is all there - so unless you want to get out your spreadsheet it’s not very helpful. For sleep, the this app does a good job, and if this is why you want it than go for it. Who is to say if the Apple Watch is accurate (?) but if it is than the this app is not accurate with its heart rate measurements during workouts - generally it’s in the right realm but at peak work out it reads quite low compared to the Apple Watch. This could be because it only tracks every 5 minutes and perhaps it’s not getting my peak heart rate moments. The Apple Watch you can record specific workouts like yoga, hockey, interval training etc. The this app you’ll have to just look at the hours.

Graphs could be better and data summaries for workouts could be improved. Hopefully accuracy will get better. Should you get this? If you want to track sleep and not wear a bulky watch than yes, I don’t think you’ll get a better product or app with any other smart ring.

For workshouts definitely get a smart watch they are just far more sophisticated at the time of this review.

Please add connectivity to Garmin Connect or Apple Health

This is my second month using the this app. Primary reason I chose this ring versus others was because there was no monthly fee. I love being able to track my stress, sleep, HRV. However I have found the step count to be highly inaccurate(off by over 3,000 steps daily). this app also sends me alerts about my heart rate whenever I work out…it does not know I am exercising so it records it as a significant or minor outlier, rendering vital signs score highly inaccurate. While it does the basics well (stress, sleep) I feel if RingConn could interface with either Garmin Connect or Apple Health it would be so much better.

Removing Functionality?

I’ve had the this app ring for about 7 months. I purchased based on a few factors (I like the look better than other tracking rings) but mostly because it offered the same functionality as the Oura ring without the hefty monthly subscription, and because it’s not huge and bulky like an Apple watch. I loved using RingConn daily to track things like my sleeping but also to create notes on things that are specific to my health: IBS related issues, migraine tracking, etc. I did that until the most recent update where the developers removed the note function. That is a huge loss to me and may affect other users as well. To get the full scope of health, you need to be able to note things that aren’t typical and watch to see if there is a pattern (like do I get migraines around my period every month). Now that the note option is gone, I will likely have to look into a different ring (a different company entirely) when I hit the year mark with this ring. Just something to consider when you’re shopping around if you have outliers you would want to track as well as just these basic things.

Need More Exercise Options

Great app in some senses and not so great in others… Ring is great at tracking sleep and seems fairly accurate when it comes to my workouts. However we need more exercise options. The fact that there is an outdoor run option but not an outdoor walk option is kind of ridiculous. I really hope they plan on adding more activities such as hockey, golfing, swimming, tennis, cardio. There are many options I’d like to see added so I can start recording more workouts. Half the time now I just put on outdoor run since it’s basically the only option that can track any relative data. Also would be great if you could see your total distance traveled in a day. It tracks all the steps you take but it will only track your distance if you are in a workout mode which is kind of silly to me.

Don’t leave many reviews but

Developer should know. So far this seems like a solid product. It’s comfortable to wear and has plenty of sensors.
RingConn , however leaves a lot on the table. I’m hoping for one big update that makes it more user friendly and concise. I’d love to see a main screen with all vitals without having to dig down a level or 2. Leave the graphs etc for the second or third level but a quick snapshot would be very helpful.
Echoing many others I’d also like to see a section for strength training. I know it can’t track how much weight you throw but it can track reps, rest and HIIT stats for most exercises.
One last thing and very important is recovery time. If RingConn can help track HR to determine rest and time between sets with or without user defined parameters and using an alert set up or something that would be great.
I’d recommend this for those looking to avoid subs but it has a lot of room to improve and I hope it does.

Update blocks use

I love the information I get from my ring and appreciate the updates that improve its use. However, I am currently out of town and did not bring the charging case with me because I knew my ring would not need a charge for about 2 weeks….this is a big marketing point with your company. The first morning of my trip, I tried to check my sleep data but kept getting blocked by the update information. There was no way around it. I can’t update without the charging case (according to the pop up), and now I can’t access my data (because of the pop up). It’s annoying because I purposely fully charged the ring so I wouldn’t need to pack the case. There needs to be a way to skip the update until a later time.

My Opinion!

I absolutely love my ring! It is easy to use. There’s a charging case that holds a charge so you don’t always have to plug everything in. I bought it because I wanted to know my sleep schedule and heart sleeping heart rate etc. I saw it first when my friend was wearing it. He had a black one, he loved it too. He just told me don’t get the black because it really shows scratches, the Gold looks cheap!! Soooo, I bought a silver one which also shows scratches!! This is my only complaint.! Also, you do not have to pay a monthly fee for the stats as in some other rings!! And RingConn is easy to use! I gave four stars, leaving the fifth one out because of the rings surface, which scratches!

RingConn App using RingConn 2

RingConn has what you need to track sleep and other health metrics. The sleep apnea is a nice addition although I wished it could recognize workouts like a run. The Aura Ring 4 does even though you pay a small monthly fee for RingConn . I use both rings and still trying to decide. I enjoy the metrics on the Aura App more. But, if you don’t want to pay for an app use the this app. Also like the slimmer design of the this app 2 over the Aura Ring 4. I wear a Garmin Fenix 8 which is bulky so anything else I wear that can be minimalist is best. In conclusion it’s a decent app. Has what you need for sleep tracking etc. my only gripe is it doesn’t auto recognize: workouts.

Enjoying it so far!

Making sense of the “Wellness Balance” indicator took a little time. It wasn’t updating my activity for the day. Then I realized it was using the previous day’s metrics. Aside from that, it seems to be accurately capturing everything like steps, sleep, and heart rate. I’m making connections between certain activities and my stress levels. Also making connections between sleep and my appetite. Only thing on my wishlist is for RingConn to pull workouts from Apple health and synchronize activities automatically. Otherwise, really useful tool, I recommend getting one.

Exercise options

I love my this app and I think that RingConn is really good, but something I think that might help improve the experience while using RingConn might be adding more options of exercise. You can record like 5 exercises (outdoor running, indoor running, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling and outdoor walking) the exact moment that you are exercising, but if you are doing something different, like weights or using an elipticial machine, you have to add it after you exercise and you have to find a way to measure the calories you burn in those exercises by counting them on another device (ex. Smart watch).

I think that it would be better if I could record other exercises at the moment I’m going to start and not after the exercise is over and I used another device to see how I did.

Thank you and I hope this helps.

Good Start

There’s seems to be a ton of data, so I hope they refine/streamline all of it to be more user-friendly and easily-accessible. Some of the things I hope the developers take into account and adjust going forward include (1) Notifications - especially alerts regarding the ring’s battery level/charging, as well as insights from all the data (ie. Morning summary regarding your night of sleep and nightly stress levels, etc.). Oura does this and I found it useful. (2) More streamlined/user-friendly app. Again, there’s a ton a data/charts/graphs to view, and it can become a little overwhelming to navigate and make sense of. I often find myself not knowing what to do with all the information I’m looking at. (3) Lock Screen complications. I would love the option to see some/one of the big measurements on my lock screen (ring battery level, Sleep Score, Stress Score, Heart Rate, Sp02, Steps, etc.)

Can’t wait to see what comes next! Really like it so far!

Overall great!

RingConn is great overall. The ring is comfortable and does last about 9 days for me. No issues charging or staying charged. Would love more push notifications on charging notifications, “hey your ring is dead” notifications, and just overall progress reports, abnormality things. I would love there to be more advanced features like the other mainstream rings however I do love how this is no cost. But more frequent push notifications and ring alerts would make this 5* for me.

Love my RingConn

So far I am liking this ring. RingConn works great and the interface with the ring and RingConn seems to be working great.
The couple of complaints I have is the fact that you have to open RingConn as soon as you wake up in order for your sleep to register. I’ve only had a handful of times that my sleep didn’t register because I didn’t open RingConn upon waking.
The ring seems to be holding up to everyday wear and tear and I’m not easy on my hands. I work outside on the garden and around my property and it’s held up well.
The other complaint I have is I have to have my phone on me for the activity tracker to keep up. Sometimes I leave my phone in the house and work outside and the ring won’t register all the activity I’ve done.
Overall I’m very happy with the ring and would and have recommended it to friends and family.

Impressed, once received.

I was disappointed at how long it took to get the ring and I nearly cancelled it a couple of times. Glad I didn’t. Ring and App work really well together and collect a lot of data and present it in many ways. My wife has a competitor ring where RingConn is not free, data not so available at all and there is all sorts of unnecessary feel good stuff with it. Sure it was developed on the left coast. RingConn reports numbers and facts that can be found quickly and easily. Good Job. Now will the sensors be able to read blood pressure and glucose levels like some watches?
I didn’t mention the charging case-streets ahead of competitor, and a push message when charged.

Best underdog Ring

I’ve found service team to be very responsive, which is exceptional given its startup status. I applaud them for their no-subscription service. Yet there has been a regular sequence of App and firmware updates that have made great strides since their first product release. I’ve compared data from a smartwatch and while they don’t perfectly agree, they almost perfectly match each other and my own perception.
Sports functionality has steadily improved and would meet the needs of all but the most dedicated tech enabled athlete in training.
Ring itself has been comfortable, and the 2nd gen gold finish has nary a scratch though I’ve been very careless, weightlifting, working on cars, with it on. My first gen black did show more scuffing on the underside, but I didn’t mind. Great product, no regrets being an early adopter from kickstarter.

5 Star - Highly Recommend

I have had the this app for about a month now and I LOVE it. I did a bunch of prior research on different brands and found that this app was both financially and practically the best option. The biggest upside is the travel charging case.

RingConn is extremely streamlined and very easy to use and understand. I walk my dog a lot and use RingConn to track my distance and steps taken. The sleep monitor is also extremely accurate and feasible.

Highly recommend for individuals looking to purchase any sort of “health” tracker that does not want the clunky wrist watch. this app is the way to go.

Brilliant

As one of the early backers of this ring, each update that is released makes RingConn better and better. The data is very close to what I see on my Apple Watch. The ring itself is absolutely gorgeous, but beauty is just one part of it. It is RingConn and the proactive developers that are making the ring, the most brilliant part of this project. I am very pleased that I back this project, but most of all I’m very appreciative of how this app listens to their users. Oh, and by the way, there are no subscription fees as there are with other smart rings. Keep up the good work!
