App never opens

I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times plus shut my phone down and restarted. HybridCalisthenics just clocks after launch and never gets any further, not even to the login screen. Update: I was able to log in on a second phone. However, now the day will never show completed. I've run through it multiple times and push-ups won't show as completed so I can't progress. Update: still can't a workout to ever show as completed. I've tried multiple days and it's always showing the push-ups as not completed. I gave up and removed it from my phone. I really wanted this one to work, I absolutely love the book but this is too buggy for me.

Content is good but the app is garbage

I don’t write many reviews but I have to finally write one here. The content is awesome. I love the program. I love that it starts you off easy and then works your way through more and more difficult movements. However this isn’t a review for the content it’s a review for HybridCalisthenics . The amount of times that I have to reenter my reps for each set to me met with a screen that says I haven’t completed the workout yet. And then again, and again. I think the most I’ve had to do was 6 times entering in the sets before it finally says that I did it. Secondly there’s no historic data. I can’t go back to a previous day to see how many sets I did. Nothing. Lastly, HybridCalisthenics is very very slow. Sometimes I have to close and reopen three or four times just to get it to open. For all this I’d have to say HybridCalisthenics is a 1 out of 5 for me.

Cannot Log In

Was excited to try HybridCalisthenics for a long time, but I can’t log in to HybridCalisthenics . Tried making an account through HybridCalisthenics , and it said it could not authenticate my info. Tried to make an account through the website and then input it into HybridCalisthenics , said that it couldn’t verify my login. Please fix!

I want to love it

I really want to love HybridCalisthenics. I was so excited for it to come out but now I can’t get past the login since I’ve signed up. I know this was an earlier issue but it seems to be an issue again please investigate. Can’t wait to use HybridCalisthenics and rate it five stars.

Cannot Try It

“There was a problem with your authentication. Please try again.”

Sloooowwwww

Ok, I paid for premium, but for the high price (yes, 10 dollars a month for an app I use for a couple minutes 3 times a week is a lot) but HybridCalisthenics is just ridiculously slow. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered an app and all my years of voting an iPhone that had such a slow load up time. I’m literally writing this review because I’ve given up on HybridCalisthenics still stuck in the loading screen so I came here to rent and it’s still loading. It hasn’t even loaded yet. This is what I’m paying $10 for???

It’s been 4 minutes. I give up. It’s refund time.

Good first effort. Will download again when kinks are worked out

I’m looking for a simple way to log and track. Not why I need to log all sets for a particular workout before logging a different workout set. Needs a simpler UI as well. Deleted it and will see if later versions are better.

Too many ads

I am seeing long ads after every single set. That’s too much. Also, I closed HybridCalisthenics before doing the second movement and when I reopened it, HybridCalisthenics had forgotten that I had logged 3 sets of the first movement. This is not helpful - I’ll go back to logging my calisthenics on paper, which never forgets, until I see some updates to HybridCalisthenics ’s logging functionality.

Good foundation but needs work.

While there are quite a few ads and HybridCalisthenics locks pretty useful features behind a not-so-wholesome pricey premium subscription, HybridCalisthenics is lacking in customization features. I’ve been doing the HC routine on my own with the e-book and a spreadsheet for a few months now. I modified my routine a bit so that my break day is on Friday (having the routine “start” on Saturday) since that’s what works best with my schedule. HybridCalisthenics unfortunately doesn’t have an option to choose your break day meaning the routine is currently set in stone.

I also wouldn’t mind a log on each exercise’s page displaying the dates for when I did that specific exercise and how many I did. Additional pictures or videos showing the exercises done at different angles would be useful too.

Also, there’s a bug for me where the tutorial video didn’t align with the screen properly or play sound.

Hoping HybridCalisthenics continues to improve because I love the routine and it’s been really helpful.

Unable to sign up

I usually dont leave reviews but this is a pretty new app and i wanted to point out a bug, when i go to sign up i have to write in my password once to make it and another to verify it but i cant scroll all the way down to type the second entry. Meaning i cant sign up and use it. Very excited for HybridCalisthenics! Hopefully that can get fixed soon

Good App So Far!

So far this is a great workout app, possibly the most beginner-friendly I’ve used so far. I love that you can customize your sets & reps, as well as the ability to track your progress. With some bug fixes and QOL updates HybridCalisthenics could be perfect. My biggest criticism would be having to constantly replay whatever audio I’m listening to due to HybridCalisthenics automatically pausing audio on any screen that shows a workout example (even though the examples themselves do not play audio) as well as the audio ads. An option to mute everything in HybridCalisthenics or opt out of ads that play audio would be great (or a paid version to opt out of ads completely).

Love HC can’t wait to see where this goes

I love HC and all the content. So blessed to have this content out in the world and follow religiously knowing I will get there with the method! HybridCalisthenics is in its infancy, clunky and not all that intuitive. I love that it tells you what to do and how to do it each day and that you can log your sets so watch as you progress. I’d like to see that become a little more seamless. And a way to track your progression over time. I’m so looking forward to seeing the improvements over time and will continue to use this regardless, in support of all things HC!

Not bad needs, needs some polish.

I like the demonstrations and organizations. The interface is easy to use. A few features that are needed in a fitness app that I would love to see added are a way to go back and see what I did on previous days, some way to track and see progress ie measurements weigh in ect. A difficulty slider for lack of better words that way beginners or people out of shape can start light while those more experienced can start with moderate or extreme workouts. As for features that’s it but there are some things that need fixing a way to get rid of adds for one an add after every set is ridiculous. A silent mode for HybridCalisthenics would be nice so it doesn’t interfere with my music while working out. Altogether I see great potential.

Love the exercises, but the app is hard to use

So I’ve been doing the HC exercise program for about a month now and have been very pleased with how it has helped me not only begin but progress through a comprehensive exercise routine. This is all free and invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for it. I would recommend anybody who is looking to get into a beginner workout routine download HybridCalisthenics and give it a look/try. However, HybridCalisthenics itself can be incredibly frustrating at times. In the free version, HybridCalisthenics shows you an ad during your cooldown. This is not really a problem at all, and I’m more than happy to play a quick and usually skippable ad when I’m catching my breath. But recently there’s been an ad that just freezes and I can’t ever click out of it. This might not even be that big of an issue, but the progress for the entire workout is not saved, even if you just finished the entire thing. It can also be very slow to load, and there’s not much in the way of actually viewing logs or progress, or for saving your progress if HybridCalisthenics bugs out (which isn’t an infrequent occurrence). So yeah, just a *little* more user friendliness could go a long way, and could make HybridCalisthenics as good as the program that’s on it!

Too buggy

I love the effort. Very simple and easy to follow with instructions. The qualms I have with HybridCalisthenics are two very distinct things. This is every day I use HybridCalisthenics . I would finish a routine and hit done but it doesn't record that I did it. Between every set if you don't have the paid version you have to sit through an ad. Not only do I have to restart my whole set again just to record what I already did but now I have to sit through all the ads twice over.

The second thing isn't a breaker but when you're on the log set screen you don't have the option to watch a tutorial again in the middle of the workout. I just needed some pointers to see if I'm doing it right or wrong.

All in all an okay app, but just too buggy which may be a deal breaker to some.

Good app, there are bugs

I can’t record the sets of a second movement during a work out session. I’ve tried killing HybridCalisthenics and restarting but nothing works. The screen where you explore movements is a little buggy once you pick a category as the content is vertical lists that scroll horizontally however the horizontal scrolling sometimes doesn’t capture the input. To work around that I tried using the dots at the bottom but they do nothing. You can tap them but they don’t correspond to a change in the horizontal scroll position.

Simple, Effective, Could use a little work

Agreed with others who have left reviews. The program is great, been at it for a few months now and really enjoying working on calisthenics. HybridCalisthenics itself could still use some work. It works well enough but there are a lot of little things that can be improved. One pet peeve for example is that when I finish my last set, I still have to wait through the rest timer before I'm able to click "I'm done". Similarly, I don't do calisthenics every day as I work following this program in between other strength and cardio workout days, so when I open HybridCalisthenics after 3 days off or so and it's giving me the same routine that I just did last time, I wish it would remember that I just did that. It seems like it keeps moving on through the routines with or without you instead of being personalized. Hope they keep making improvements cuz I'd love to stick with this long term.

Excellent, can’t wait to see where it goes!

I’ve been using HybridCalisthenics about a week now and it’s been great! The info is helpful and laid out pretty well and the ads are easily ignored (especially with the volume silenced - and the signal chime still rings!!). I really like the summary that pops up after completing a workout.

Sometimes on logging in, it takes 10-20 seconds to load, which is the only reason this isn’t a five.

2 things I would love:
1. Easy access to the form cues during the workout
2. The ability to tie my schedule to a 4x a week rhythm - I’m currently not using this routine 6 days a week, so the rest day is hardly ever going to line up with my actual rest day.

Thanks for making HybridCalisthenics - have a beautiful day!

Almost Perfect, But…

Hi, Hampton (and Hampton’s app design team)! I wanted to say, thank you for making this available for us to use as an app (since pulling up the HC site wasn't always feasible in the middle of the gym). With that in mind, I have a few nitpicks:

1. HybridCalisthenics stops any other audio you have playing if you tap on an exercise, which means no music! (Personally, it takes me out of flow, because then I have to go back into Control Center to get music playing again.)

2. I understand that you gotta pay the devs, but the ads after logging each SET are a little much (especially since they play audio, which combined with Point 1 makes it very, very irritating). If you must have video ads at all, perhaps move them to after we finish our exercise with the “I’m Done” button instead?

3. As another reviewer mentioned, viewing a history of our past workouts would be very helpful!

Anyway, that's about all. Thank you again, and have a beautiful day!

Pretty good, could be better

Really my only complaints are that you can’t go back and look at your workout history or what you did yesterday. I also dislike that it doesn’t pick up where you left off. Every day is assigned a different workout and if you miss it, you have to wait to do those two when they come up next. It doesn’t just get pushed to the next day. So if you want to work on this stuff 3 days a week, you have to rotate days to catch every exercise. It should really just pick up where you left off.

Otherwise super awesome and user friendly. Videos are great. Explanations are great. Being able to see all the progressions to see what you’re working towards, super great. 👍🏼

Simple and effective!

I love the format and simplicity of HybridCalisthenics - it’s really easy to find the different movements and start the recommended routine. I love the built in timer for time between sets and the easy input for number of reps - this is something I struggle to record and stay consistent with on my own. There are a couple things I think would be quick but really helpful fixes! On the home page, there’s a “start your new routine” option, but it only starts from the first progression, and doesn’t have an option to modify to the progression you’re on. It’s easy enough to look for the correct progression in the movement library and go from there, but it would be awesome if we could modify the routine on the homepage instead of needing to parse through the library. It could also be that this will update after a few days of working in the progression, but I would love to adjust it right away! The other thing I didn’t love is that the “I’m done” button only appears after your 3 minute rest time, so if you’re finished with all your sets, you still have to wait to press “I’m done” - it would be great if that was an option during the rest time. Overall I’m really pleased with HybridCalisthenics and will definitely continue using to structure and record my workouts!

It's awesome

I don't write very many reviews, but this one really needs it because I've been enjoying the workouts and everything that's come with it. I agree with others on the need for a way to dial back to an earlier progression if needed if the person is not ready for the next progression. I've circumvented this by doing the previous progression when needed and putting one or zero for the next progression that it wants me to work on. So that way I can keep on track with the routine.

I would also like to see a way to view past workouts. I've been writing them separately right now just to save on space in my phone. The only other gripe I have is the interruption with the music thing. Other then that the extra bells and whistles that others have mentioned I think would be to much extra.

Liking it so far!

I only just started using HybridCalisthenics a few days ago and am enjoying it so far, I love the progressions and examples. As a new user, a couple things would make it better for me.
1) The ability to look back at previous days workouts to see what you did. Knowing the streak is nice but I’d rather see my activities.
2) And the reverse! I’d love to see what’s upcoming in the routine, and maybe even be able to customize it to count toward the daily workout.

I’ll review again after I’ve been on HybridCalisthenics for awhile but I’m liking it right now! 😊

Love it, couple critiques

So I’ve had HybridCalisthenics for two days at this point and I love it and the idea behind it. A couple things about the apps user interface. First HybridCalisthenics does not allow me to go back a day and see what exercises I completed and for how many sets, this could be incredibly useful to view personal progress. Second HybridCalisthenics cuts off any other apps running at the same time which means I can’t listen to music while using HybridCalisthenics effectively halting the flow of my workout. This pairs with the inability to keep the set timer running while in another app to make it difficult to conduct these workouts in the gym. I know HybridCalisthenics is new so I look forward to seeing future updates!

Great!

Loving HybridCalisthenics so far, and I’m so excited you created it! Sorry if this is a duplicate- I wasn’t sure if this sent.

I did get the authentication error several times but every hour or so I just tried again and eventually got into HybridCalisthenics .

So far I love the visuals, the cues, and being able to check things off (makes me feel like I did something successfully when I can check it off!). Here are some thoughts:

1. Ability to adjust rest times with a slider bar (or something similar)
2. Ability to view the exercise cues while doing rest period
3. Ability to view the recommended reps/sets while in the exercise - for example, while I’m in my rest period I’m wondering how many leg raises I should do next per your recommendation but I have to complete the exercise before getting back to that screen
4. Ability to view what’s in store for future days, not just what exercises for today
5. I found that if I went to respond to a text or something during a rest and then the screen went black while I wasn’t paying attention, the clock stopped counting my rest so some of my rests accidentally became closer to 5m.

Love it! Hope this helps. You rock! DRAGONFRUIT 🐉 🍎 💜

Lots of potential

I love the streamlined focus of HybridCalisthenics so you don’t have a choice but to follow the plan. That said, I took two rest days and today was supposed to be a pull-ups/squats day, and HybridCalisthenics is telling me to do twists/bridges and there’s no way to adjust as far as I can tell.

Edit: I realized what is happening. When you open HybridCalisthenics on a new day, the next exercise in the series is generated, even if you don’t do the exercises, when you open HybridCalisthenics the next day, the next progression will load, meaning if you open HybridCalisthenics and change your mind and take a rest day, you’ll have to wait two days until you can do that progression. until this is fixed, only open HybridCalisthenics if you intend to exercise, otherwise the sequence will get thrown off with no way to fix it.

It’s a good start

HybridCalisthenics itself is a good concept and I like the direction they are going. I know they are working on how to best present your past workouts and I look forward to that function.
The creator is so considerate and you can’t but love the dude. Some things I’d like to see:

1. A purchase option to remove ads.
2. A pause function for the video examples in your workout sets. The repeating play function prevents you from having background music playing while in HybridCalisthenics and doing your sets.
3. A way to creat your own custom sets/add different exercises to the stock routines.
4. On a more personal note, my current belly gets in the way of doing the proper form on the twists. An example of a modification for the lower level twists that helps you build to proper form would be greatly appreciated.

I hope look forward to supporting HybridCalisthenics and its future updates. Some things I’ve noticed since starting this routine as a 5am workout:

1. I no longer get tired at mid day.
2. My body has fewer aches throughout the day and functions better.

I just went through a supper stressful period of life and was insanely busy. Add in injuring my ankle and knee - I ended up putting on over 40 lbs. I’m looking to establish a healthy lifelong calisthenics routine that I can use anywhere and will help me stay fit and moving to keep playing with my kids.

Great content, UI could use some work

The exercises are great. I love the emphasis on accessibility and how HybridCalisthenics walks you through everything. It does have a few clunky quirks, like having to sit through the rest period before you can end a session, how the timer stops running if you switch to another app, and not being able to review the tutorial while in the session, but, overall I think it is an excellent tool.

Nice start

I’m really enjoying HybridCalisthenics and having the information I want in one convenient spot. I’d like to have the ability to go back and log retroactively and/or move ahead in the schedule manually. (I couldn’t get HybridCalisthenics to open one morning and forgot to log my sets before the end of the day. Now I’m one day ahead of HybridCalisthenics ’s schedule.)

Accessible and straightforward

Had this for about a week and so far it’s pretty great. This lays out a simple routine with detailed instruction and clear video examples, taking a lot of the guess work out of planning and executing exercises.

There have been some bugs which I’m sure they’ll work out (log in issues, and a couple of seemingly unresponsive buttons), hopefully soon.

Would definitely recommend.

Great program, UI could be better

Love this program, and overall HybridCalisthenics is heading in the right direction, but the UI is a bit clunky. Specifically, the “next movement” button would be between “save set” and “I’m done”, and “I’m done” should be renamed “end workout”. It’s way too easy to click “I’m done” after concluding the first movement, which then puts the workout in a weird half-finished state. I’ve had to reset the whole workout and click back through everything again to make sure it actually saved and advanced properly.

Also, I’d pay for an ad free version if you have us that option.

Ugh, ads between sets.

Hampton is great. He and the devs need food and to pay the bills, but ads are gross.

Can you make an in app purchase/small subscription to make them go away?

Love the app

I’m loving HybridCalisthenics so far! I have found a bug that doesn’t let me close the workout summary though. Also, the ‘next workout’ button should be a little more visible. Even with those issues, I’m looking forward to using HybridCalisthenics!

Good app, I wish there was a paid add free option

HybridCalisthenics itself is well made, with great information. The adds make it nearly unusable, I admire that you want to make something free for everyone to use, but I would love to have an option to pay for an add free experience.

Great app - Missing features

HybridCalisthenics is great for what it is. They seemed to fix the problem with the login, which is great! The biggest problem for me is that HybridCalisthenics doesn’t connect to the Apple Watch or doesn’t seem to send the information to the fitness app. It’s nothing crazy that breaks HybridCalisthenics , but I enjoy keeping track of my workouts, and this would be a wonderful addition to a great app.

Can't sign up!

Basically same situation as another user, I can't sign up! I'm prompted to provide an email and then a password, but then I can't access the part of the form to re-enter my password to confirm it. When I try to scroll down to that area, when I release the screen from scrolling down, it automatically scrolls back up to the top. When this gets fixed, I can't wait to try HybridCalisthenics out! Your videos have been very helpful for me!

EDIT: forgot to say that on the sign up page there are to colons after "Create a strong password to protect your account"

Suggestion

I love HybridCalisthenics . I like being able to do the daily suggested routines. My only wish is that we could swap out an exercise for a different one or the option to skip it all together.

Amazing

So far they have fixed every issue and they have listened to peoples comments and implemented them. HybridCalisthenics is great and I can’t wait to see how much more it grows

Love it!

I love that HybridCalisthenics tells me everything I need to know to get started. I don’t have to think or plan or anything which is great because I’m a busy stay at home mom. It even includes a video with each workout so you can see how it’s done. I’m excited to grow with HybridCalisthenics. Thanks Hampton!

Great app!

I used to use a spreadsheet to keep track of my workouts and progressions. This is a lot more convenient! If you’re trying to improve your heath, definitely give the Hybrid Calisthenics routine a try. It’s helped me a lot.

Can’t go wrong with this guy

I was excited when I started seeing ads for Sir Hampton’s book and the free online routine info. When he mentioned an app was forthcoming, I couldn’t wait.

I’m giving this 5 stars because I’ve seen Hampton’s character, and his sincere desire to help people and create the highest quality product and info he can. I know he will listen to user feedback and work out any issues that pop up in this beta version.

I strongly strongly recommend you give HybridCalisthenics a chance. It WILL continue to improve as time goes on. You won’t find a person more dedicated to helping anyone at any level of ability find a routine that works for you and improves your health and quality of life. 👍🏻👍🏻

Please fix it

Then I try to sing up I see this: Error There was a problem with your authentication. Please try again. Update: I successful logged in

Update

Love HybridCalisthenics . However after todays update HybridCalisthenics has slowed down considerably. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Thanks for your efforts. Have a wonderful day.

Dragonfruit

I will start using HybridCalisthenics this Monday, it seems very intuitive!

Good

So far aim enjoying HybridCalisthenics . I like how it goes to a harder excercise when it realizes youre able to do the easier variations. But I would also like to be able to choose the days I want to work out that way I dont “lose” my streak for resting durng the weekends and stuff.

A push and pull above the rest.

Useful app to those interested in calisthenics and all movements geared toward longevity. Easy interface, and scaled tutorials for any fitness level. Been working out for about ten years seriously in various modalities, and still find great motivation and usefulness here. HybridCalisthenics stands above the rest mainly because it helps you maintain a realistic idea of what you can and should be doing without the ego. Daily exercises with varied movements to keep you motivated and moving without the daunting nature of a grueling workout ahead. Hampton, like all things he does keeps it fun!

Definitely like where this is headed

I will give this 5 stars simply because I believe in the product and the creator (thanks Hampton!). The potential is definitely there so these comments are just to capture what I think would help the UI.
-when I’m logging sets, it would be nice to have a reference/option to select what level I’m on without backing out and then it resetting my rep count, which means I have to go back in and watch ads again. I can’t remember a lot of the time if I should try for 2 or 3 sets of X.
-also have that level selection stay constant for all the sets I log (if I know I can only do 10 reps, it’s annoying to have to reset it each time if it defaults to 20)
-it would be nice for the rep counter to have an incremental hold so I can change my reps faster
-I’d love to see a history, but I know you’re working on that. And it would be fun to have the option to see a teaser of tomorrow (maybe not even the whole workout, I do kind of like the mystery)
-It would also be great if I could log sets and move through the ads without my music cutting out (even if I have to manually mute it). I’d like to log sets and do the whole work out continuously without having to jump back to start my music each time, especially when I’m doing 5+ sets of something.

Great app

Thanks to Jesus, I was looking for more progressions on workouts and different types of workouts. This was it, giving me video and tutorial on how to do it, cutting straight to the point.
