Toxic Terminology: How This App’s Language Undermines Its Purpose

2025-03-12

by Vi.saturn

The first thing I did was listen to the initial podcast, and immediately, I noticed a strong emphasis on the concepts of “strong” versus “weak” mindsets. Many men have grown up being conditioned to view certain feelings or behaviors as weak, often being told that only “strong” individuals avoid them. This kind of terminology is not only toxic but also deeply triggering.

As a result, I couldn’t even move on to the next task, which involved writing non-judgmentally. The irony wasn’t lost on me—the prompt itself was judgmental, focusing on the idea of “breeding a strong mindset.”

If someone is using this app, it’s likely because they already feel vulnerable or unsure, which you might label as having a “weak mindset.” This approach comes across as subtly shaming, and that’s why I decided to delete the app. I sincerely hope you reconsider your wording, as this kind of language can do more harm than good. While some people might be comfortable with these labels, it’s incredibly irresponsible to frame mental and emotional struggles in such a binary way.

Whole lotta meh

What does 60 dollars get you? Not a lot. Little daily forced relevance snippets. I like the concept, so signed up for a trial. Found little use for it after one day. It has a coaching process for cold exposure. But I already do cold exposure. Also, it’s basically a stopwatch. The ai is kinda neat. Which you can do without the app. I don’t see the point. Customer service is non-existent. Can’t get a refund for going five minutes over the trial period. But it seems like this is the whole business model.

Update: I wrote to support as the developer response pretended to offer. They told me sorry, nothing can be done. Have a great day. So that response was just lip service. Terrible business from front to back.

Women

It’s been a while two minute into the app, in the beginning they give you a list of about 20 people to choose from who inspire you. They’re all men. I’m sure this is going to be awesome at improving my self esteem and feelings of pointlessness in a female role. Awesome. Not one? Couldn’t think of of one. Like, if there was one I wouldn’t even bother commenting, I’m used to that ratio but Jesus eff. Make something up, Mary Curie if you’re feeling lazy for a history reference. Esther Perel is a modern genius on relationships. Since that’s also a point of focus on the app. She even has podcasts so the podcast bros don’t hurt themselves trying to read. The lack of care given to even ad one just feels disrespectful.
