A Faulty App

eSIMTravelData will not function as designed when you have multiple data plans purchased. Ideally one can switch from one plan to another depending on the specific location within your data plan covers by tapping on the plan listed. However, this is not the case. Once a data plan has started, the rest of other data plans are deemed inaccessible. Contacted GigSky numerous times but kept giving me the go around but repeatedly asking the same information as their agents don’t collaborate with the follow up emails n asked the same thing from me over n over again. Do not buy. I wasted my money on a data plan that never works as promised. I was told to get a refund, but need to escalate the matter to the management level for approval. This is a waste of time trying to get help and keep emailing for technical assistance as nothing gets resolved. Extremely disappointed with eSIMTravelData n the customer service from SkyGig.

Done with GigSky—LTE coverage is poor

I’ve been using GigSky routinely since the service was possible on the iPhone XS, first on that device then the 11 and then the 12. I’ve used it dozens of times in dozens of countries in Europe, Asia, North America, and South America. But I’m giving up on GigSky because the LTE coverage is spotty and often my phone is on 3G while my work mobile, which is roaming on the local network, at full bars on LTE. I’m tired of paying LTE rates for 3G service.

Sending a complaint to GigSky results in a circular discussion where I have to provide screenshots of the map where I’m standing and a variety of other information. Of course by the time GigSky replies I’m already in a new spot where it also doesn’t work. I’m tired of having to do so much work to prove that the coverage is poor, which GigSky already knows, and in dealing with excuses instead of solutions. Bye, GigSky. I’m off to FlexiroamX and Truphone.

Worthless

Worked for about 10 minutes then suddenly stopped working. Checked eSIMTravelData and “My Plan” said it expired (I was on day 1 of 7). Tried to buy more data anyway but it wouldn’t process a payment. Tried to access help tab to troubleshoot but it is hosted online rather than locally within eSIMTravelData so I couldn’t view. Completely worthless…save yourself the hassle and just pay for an international plan from your cell provider while you’re traveling.

SCAM

Be careful with that one. I bought the cruise package for Greece-Malta-Italy. No service not one single day. I tried every which setting.
I ended up having to buy the cruise internet and rely on wifis on-land. The “customer service” gave me a visibility of “looking into the problem” but rather put me through a three day back and forth. The verdict was “our record shows the data was used - no refund”
PS: if you find yourself in a similar position with them, just go straight to your credit card and dispute the charge. Don’t waste time with them.

Meh

Setup questions are confusing on the iPhone — lots of questions about contacts/calls/messages being sent from primary or secondary. No clear guidance from eSIMTravelData .

GigSky only has 3G agreements with certain providers, even if the provider offers LTE (Dutch St Martin has chippie; GigSky is 3G only when LTE is available to Verizon international day pass).

Not a great value for the money. The only reason I use them is because I’m hanging on to my old Verizon gUDP plan. Otherwise, I use family members Verizon hotspot for LTE.

Inadequate setup documentation, weak support

It was extremely easy to purchase a data plan for Latin America. However, determining whether it had been configured properly before departure was much more difficult. The configuration itself was somewhat bewildering because of how fast the information went by. (Also I was unfamiliar with all the choices that need to be made when using an eSim.) As a result, I interrupted the process and then was left confused about whether things were working. I see two distinct signal strengths which suggest things are fine, but eSIMTravelData it’s self reports “Network not connected”.

The support phone line appears completely overburdened with very long wait times for response. I signed up for a call back hours ago.

It’s possible this was money down the tubes, and I won’t know until I reach Chile.

Frustrated

On October 24 I have wrote a review regarding my frustration with eSIMTravelData and it would be very important not only for my husband and I but for every single person who has, is ir will use your app “ to discuss vcmy issue. Looking forward to hearing from you
“I recently purchased eSIMTravelData and I paid $25 to make my life easier in Italy for a week. After 4 days vc I had to purchase another $25. Well two day later I need more $25 to be able to use WhatsApp with friends since the arrival. Well it ended up being more expensive than if I had bought a plan from my carrier. Next week I’m gonna go to Brazil for a week and not comfortable using it. Was it a rip off? And be not to forget my husband also was in this trap.

Overpriced and Slow

I’ve used this eSIM provider in a number of different countries (Asia & Latin America). Depending on the country, it came be terrible overpriced; however, when I don’t have time to stop at a mobile store, I use GigSky. Sadly, it can be terrible slow but good enough for google maps or Uber.

In short, if you can, go to a mobile provider in the country you are visiting. It will a better value and more reliable.

The good and the bad of it...

Excellent implementation with ease of adding data via esim in quick manner. Easy to use interface is awesome. Unfortunately the plans are quite expensive. I get that its a convenience but If you have the time you can get physical travel sim with twice or three times the data for the same cost or less that these guys are charging. Plus physical Sims can provide phone numbers too , which helps. , these guys do not. I am sure more apps will be providing the same service soon and maybe a cheaper cost, hope these guys don’t get swept away....

Works well but coverage varies

I have been using Gigsky service for several years and generally I would recommend it over buying a local SIM with a few caveats.

GigSky is preferred if:
- you travel to different countries
- your data usage is moderate
- you check coverage before buying a plan
- you do not use iPhone Wi-Fi hot spot

Not advised if:
- you travel mostly to the same country
- you need over 1GB per week
- you do want want to change SIMs
- you need to use multiple devices

How to check coverage: arrive to the country of your destination and insert GigSky SIM into your phone. Wait a few minutes, you may need to restart the phone or at least enable and then disable airplane mode. Observe the carrier and data signals. If you are happy with signal and data then purchase a plan - typically you do not need Wi-Fi to buy data in eSIMTravelData however you *must have credit card on file* already. Use your card payment - Apple and Google payments work only on Wi-Fi.

GigSky introduced LTE SIMs last year. If you have an old SIM it is worth upgrading.

iPhone disabled Hot Spot feature is my biggest disappointment with this service. GigSky support claims it is controlled by Apple but really GigSky need to take charge to fix this problem. You cannot use USB sharing either.

My results by destination:
- Playa De Carmen, Mexico: no coverage
- Sao Miguel, Portugal: excellent, LTE
- Venice/Bologna, Italy: excellent, LTE

App is great; roaming was still patchy

Let me start by saying that this is a wonderful product. I have been using T-Mobile and found their global roaming 15Gb LTE for $50 to be a decent value. Sadly, I travel too frequently for T-Mobile’s taste so I needed to look for something else. I was super happy to find this and took it for a spin in Malaysia and Singapore. Setting it up as eSIM was a breeze (not even T-Mobile can do that!). However, in Malaysia the data didn’t really work and when it did, it wasn’t even 3G, let alone LTE/ 4G. Things were better in Singapore, but still had times when wasn’t connecting. I hope they can continue to improve - would really love to use them every month!

Best Travel Hack Ever!

Awesome service if you don’t want to worry about data coverage in less popular destinations or while crossing borders. Great country coverage, simple but straightforward UI and (most importantly) very easy setup and reliable coverage.

Worked like a charm in my last trip to Cyprus, even when crossing into Northern Cyprus. Now I never travel without a GigSky plan. Pricing is also very fair!

FYI: Be careful about having Google Maps open as it may eat up a lot of your data passively.

Little pricey- but as advertised

I went on a working holiday to Finland, Denmark and Hungary. I bounced around five cities and did not want to buy a SIM card for every country or one with a lot of roaming.
I was in Korea, downloaded it, bought the plan I wanted and had ZERO problems. The price is a little higher than perhaps it could be (SK telecom of Korea wanted more for the roaming data), but it worked very well. Almost always LTE with the notable exception of being on a train in the countryside of Hungary it was 3G.

Will be using this again in the future.

Great choice

Having used other eSIM plan providers, I felt that the experience of setting up the data connection once you land at your destination is the most easy. No more fiddling around to select specific local networks, set APNs etc. Everyone should definitely try them out.

Worked exactly as intended

Installed, setup and selected the Asia Pacific data plan before my departure. Upon arrival, switched over to GigSky and held my breath that this would work. Successfully located 5G service! Very pleased that it worked exactly as intended as I hopped through multiple countries in the region.
The initial setup & install process could be a little more clear so I could at least understand why some people may have had some difficulties. The default plan name in the eSim settings is something vague like “cellular “, so it has the potential to be confusing.

GigSky Superb International Cell Service

GigSky has worked exceedingly well in Central America, South America and India for me. 5 gb data plans typically will cover a full data use for a 2 week long trip. It is very easy to top up if you run out of data. And most of all, it is far cheaper than my US cellular data daily use plan.

Easy, reliable and cheap

Have used GigSky for several years now on trips to the UK and Europe. Always worked great (unlike another slightly cheaper provider). Pay attention to your phone settings and make sure apps aren’t using all your data allowance if you don’t want them to.

Works great with my ipad air2

Yes my ipad is an original air 2 at 10 years old - after the 5g upgrade notices I thought my cellular data/att change would render it useless - luckily gigsky is working great! I’ll definitely continue to use gigsky when i upgrade to a new ipad!

Many years of great service

I began using GigSky about 6 years ago on a business trip to Europe to get data for my cellular-enabled iPad Pro. It worked so well, and was priced so reasonably, that it quickly became my "go to" for my iPad for all my subsequent Europe trips as well as travel into Canada. I've had only one problem with the service - many years ago - when I needed to contact their support with getting my cellular data connectivity to work. They were very responsive and resolved my issue in minutes - it had been user error. Highly recommended.

Wonderful on the iPhone X!!!

eSIMTravelData is really awesome. Just finished a business trip across three countries, eSIMTravelData worked perfectly and seamlessly beginning to end, didn’t have to do a thing upon arrival. Great connectivity, less expensive AND way less hassle than buying new SIMS every time, and effortlessly easy and convenient to set up and charge. Yes, I am definitely now a fan!! Looking forward to using on my next trip...
