I love the idea of Drizly, but at least in my city (Nashville) it doesn’t quite deliver on convenience, selection, or value.
To start, the two participating stores are somewhat far from my home and have fairly limited selections—especially when it comes to my drink of choice: local craft beer.
That’s okay, though, sometimes convenience beats out selection. I was going to order a case of Founder’s All Day and high-gravity Straight to Ale bottle, a solid session IPA and something regional, which would have been around $40–slightly more than the place around the corner, but not crazy.
Alas, though, when I went to check out I learned that my selections were stocked by two different stores (the “split order” warning was helpful, at least) with a $50 and $75 minimum order, respectively. Yikes!
Perhaps I’d need that much booze for a party, but also I tend to plan things like parties in advance.
This is *not* Drizly for a last-minute bottle, unless your last-minute plans involve a few dozen people.
I would rather support a small startup, but perhaps my needs will be better met by PrimeNow offering alcohol in Nashville, as they do in other cities.
Grizzly, can you up your Nashville game before that happens?
