You will lose your loop marks!

Upgraded my phone again of course lost all a-b loop marks in all songs! Without a cloud backup solution that also syncs to all your devices, don’t waste your time.

If you have to reload your library on your phone beware that you will lose all the loop marks you have created, which over time was substantial for me, for all your songs. Even if you see the cloud has “backed up” AudioStretch. Great program but all my long tedious months and months of work - wasted!

Other similar music apps I use were not affected and pointers to the same music files held their data marks. AudioStretch then is only good for on-the-fly transcription issues. DO NOT rely on it for a historical reference A-B looping library.

Dropbox connect not reliable

I love AudioStretch and would absolutely give it 5 stars except for the problems loading songs from Dropbox. It will typically work well for several song loads and them when I go to load another song, it hangs and hangs and hangs, sometimes finally displaying a file list after several minutes and sometimes never, requiring AudioStretch to be killed off, and sometimes that doesn’t even resolve the problem for some period of time. I have another similar app that can load songs from Dropbox very reliably so it’s not an iPad, network or Dropbox issue.

Super solid app, except for state management

Just to start, AudioStretch is awesome. It’s super fun to play with and it’s also a legitimately useful tool. I appreciate the attention to detail and the UX is very good… except:

Sometimes when i return to AudioStretch , the track/video I had been working with in the timeline disappears, erasing all of the precise time markers and adjustments I had from my last session. Most of the time when AudioStretch is relaunched, this data persists, but every once and a while it will just be gone. This is especially annoying because there is no way to save a project or snapshot of your workspace in AudioStretch . Every time a track is loaded, it’s treated as a clean slate.

Developer, I would appreciate a way to save AudioStretch ’s configuration relative to a track in some way.

Great interface, needs “recent items”

This is *almost* the slow downer I’ve been looking for! Great clean interface (i really don’t know why most are so incredibly ugly) and it can read from the local library and my cloud services.

The one thing that seems obvious and is missing is a “recent items” section in the file open dialog. I tend to be working on a few songs at once, so why not have the top item on the + menu be “recents >” that opens up a submenu list of the last twenty files, sortable by most recent or name, and then opens them with their last pitch/time settings, markers, and loop. Then it would be perfect!

(Left the same review on the lite version and then immediately upgraded :)

Almost perfect

AudioStretch is good if you want to mix two songs together, but I request only ONE THING. When changing the tempo of a song, you make it so not only can you change the tempo in a 1s or the 0.00s but ALSO make it so we can change the 0.000s place. Because when I’m mixing a song the tempo is ALMOST perfect but it’s slightly off.

Excellent Interface

Audio Stretch is quite an amazing app that makes the technical part of transcribing easy. The tempo and pitch controls are easily changed by whatever amount you desire (by either sliding them or scaling up/down. You can play a small part of a recording ‘by hand’ in the style of moving old r/r tape slightly, or even hold a sound to listen to a certain moment of your choice. Loops are easy to use.
There is a keyboard picture which indicates the pitches/overtones that AudioStretch hears at a certain spot; this is helpful to verify what you are hearing (used by itself only visually, the results might seem a bit jumbled).
Start/stop is very easy with a tap on the screen.
One note: you must own (i.e. purchase) a copy of the music (via the itunes store, for example) you are working on for AudioStretch to access it. You may not just import a stream into AudioStretch . If you have any appreciation of musicians’ relationship to their recordings and copyright, you will understand why this is. Do not expect to use/manipulate/etc. streamed recordings for free.

This is the best music transcription app out there right now

As the title says, this is hands down the best transcription tool out there on the market right now, not only on smart phones.

However, I would love to see an equalizer feature added to boost certain hard to hear instruments/frequencies. It can sometimes be quite difficult to hear some instruments, due to how they were recorded.
It could also be really beneficial to have it so you can isolate 1 or more frequencies to better hone in to the more buried instruments. 👍🏻

Great app!

I have been using AudioStretch for a few years now, and it’s really cool to listen to music with different speeds and pitches. The one thing that sets AudioStretch apart is the lossless quality of pitching i.e., no audio distortion when pitching up or down.

One thing I would like to see is audio scrubbing on the lock screen or control center. I believe it was implemented in a previous update, but gone now. Still a great app!

Had app for Five Minutes. Wow

This is the only slow down app to by period. I have had them all and have been battling the slow down challenge for 55 years. Cassette tapes you name it but this is SO Easy to use already The scrub feature and the in app reminders are a blessing. Other apps I have used are a maze of settings but not this one although in the Settings section I noticed a bunch of useful shortcuts. I wish Ableton had the scrub feature. Thanks so much guys.

Practically Perfect

This is exactly what I needed for my playlist. Sometimes I want to listen but don’t have time so I had to speed things up and also definitely helps me memorize things with the A B labels & loop.

The ONLY issue I have so far on ios 12, sometimes it neither will let me do the shortcut swipe on top to change to next track on my playlist nor change it manually below even with the next track feature button enabled, happens randomly.

More than I need!

I really like AudioStretch! I'm listening to long educational content, and I needed to speed things up. AudioStretch not only speeds or slows the content, but gives precise control of pitch, shows frequencies & BPM, even lets you backmask if you drag to the right. It saves and posts what you make to a choice of several destinations.

Only thing I can think of for improvement would be to add selection of entire directories for play, or make playlists.
Great app, though. Worth the money.

I’m a professional jazz musician this app is excellent!

One of my favorite apps I used to use to transcribe music was discontinued, and I could not reinstall it on my new iPad, so I was looking for a good transcribing app to replace it, and was not impressed with most other ones I found, until I found AudioStretch, the slow down works excellently, and does not distort pitch the way other inferior apps do that I found on AudioStretch Store. It’s easy to use and totally worth the $10 highly recommend for serious professionals trying to transcribe complicated music!

I've been waiting for an app just like this!

Time and pitch are fully independent, and it sounds great! I can't wait to try with AudioBus. Simple and straightforward.

Update: The Keyboard and Spectrum view is really instructive, and there are many other great options in the settings from which to choose. It’s likely years after my initial review, and I still use AudioStretch constantly — absolutely one of my favorite, most-used apps of all time. The only feature I would like added would be a Dark Mode (an in-app purchase to add this feature would be fine with me).

This app is a game changer!!!!!

One of my hobbies is that I sing 4-part barbershop music. The most conventional way to learn our music is that we get learning tracks with your part in one ear(channel) and the 3 other parts in the other ear.
I have had other apps that also have the ability to slow down, change keys, block off sections to work but the biggest change with this app is that you can listen to a note or chord as long as you wish as long as your finger is on the screen. The feature is awesome when something is really fast or hard to hear.
You can also load your own video and do the same thing there.
The other feature that is different is that you cal load a piano bar at the top of the screen. It shows which notes are being sung and the overtones that are produced.
If you learn your notes visually, this will help.
This is the best out there to learn music. It might cost a little it is so worth it!!!!!

***Addendum***
As I mentioned earlier, I do have another similar app that has a lot of the same features. The one thing it has that this app does not have currently is the ability to keep a list of files that have been uploaded previously. It makes it easier to go back and forth to different files.
If that feature were to be added, it would have everything I need.
Thank you again for a great app!!!!!!

Amazing!

I was going to use AudioStretch for music but now I use it on different videos for humorous reasons. It’s really funny and always makes me laugh like a baby at it, especially when I press point A and B to be close together so it looks like the videos lagging. It’s really fun even when not used for its intended purpose. I think the very first video I saw that introduced AudioStretch to me was an audio stretched video of Mickey Mouse yelling at dirty shoes. Thanks to all the memes for introducing your app to me. Even better is how my phone automatically puts it in “Entertainment” instead of “other” or “misc” which is funny.

Recent Bug! Fixed!

Recently I have encountered issues importing tracks from my iCloud. Sometimes, the same track would download and other times it won’t. I have no issues with internet connection. This has happened frequently with different tracks (MP3’s). I emailed Support a few weeks ago but hasn’t received a response. This is just a recent issue because I have been using AudioStretch for many years with no problem. I will upgrade the one star to 5 once I get a response and a resolution. BTW, I deleted AudioStretch and installed it several times. I’m using iPhone 11 Pro Max.

When I restarted my phone AudioStretch worked fine. I’ll give back the 5 stars to my favorite app.

Best transcription tool ever.

I use AudioStretch every time I need to transcribe a song. It’s become such a part of my toolkit, and if any musician asked me my favorite apps for professional level musicians - this would be number 1. You can slow down, loops sections, transcribe, scrub, and the keyboard even shows you what notes are being played at any given time. Additionally you can import many formats, so your not stuck with your iTunes library, just airdrop yourself an .mp3 and start transcribing. I can’t speak highly enough of AudioStretch, best value in the AppStore.

Fora serious musician, AudioStretch is reason enough to buy a smart phone. I’d give it ten stars if I could.

Great app!

AudioStretch was suggested in a Facebook group and happened to get some great comments and the price was great! I went ahead and purchased the full version and have no regrets! In fact, just yesterday I recorded a bass line in a higher octave that was triggering a synth app. I decided I wanted a low octave to synch with it, but playing the bass line over exactly like the original would be virtually impossible! I exported the original bass line into the this app app and lowered the pitch down a full octave without slowing the file and there was very little sound degradation! I then exported back to my DAW and it was perfect!

Another great feature is AudioStretch will change video audio without changing the video itself...just the audio. It really saves some steps if you are editing a video!

I highly recommend AudioStretch! 😊💖✨

super helpful

I often need to work on tunes in a different key than the recording, and this is my go-to helper app. The key can be changed without affecting the speed of the song, and the speed can be changed without affecting the key. Of course any vocals will sound a bit odd depending on how much the key is changed, but that is not a glitch with AudioStretch at all. You can also slow down the speed of a song to hear details or play along at a slower pace without changing the key, until you get familiar enough with the song to play at normal speed. I play lots of musical genres. One way that I use this: I find instrumental versions of fav rap songs and rewrite the lyrics. Sometimes I just need to backing tracks 5-10% slower so I can keep up with the bpm's. Highly recommended!

The most valuable app on my phone

Transcription is part of how I earn my living as a full time musician. I’ve been using AudioStretch every single day for quite a while now and am thrilled with its functionality. Really easy to navigate, rewind, and change pitch. The only small gripe I have is that adjusting the pitch cents can be kind of a pain, but it’s still doable. Very well done overall.
