The Entire Paper Bites

The VTD has progressively gone down hill. It rarely covers local news but simply copies and pastes from the AP. We rarely see stories about Visalia in the local section, more likely to see Tulare, Porterville, or even larger metro areas out of our county. The paper in total is almost always less than 10 pages. The VTD and TAR should just combine because they are nearly the same print each day. Paying extra for access to digital print gets you 4 day old stories at best. VTD decided to take Labor Day off and not tell anyone, now their phone and computer lines are lit. After being kicked from online feedback and finally getting through via phone, the recording said we’d get a Sunday paper that never showed, then it claimed “technical difficulties” so I will have to waste more time once again about missed deliveries. This is not the first but rather one of many times of having to play games to try to get refunds for missed deliveries. The extremely sad part is that after putting in the time to reach the VTD, the refunds are never issued. Such a sickening waste, the whole paper, but it is the only paper in town really so the VTD laughs at us all the way to the back. There is a name for people that run companies like that but I don’t want my review kicked out for foul language.

No comic strips on the electronic version

I cancelled the print version of VTD after repeatedly no receiving the newspaper. I still get debited from bank account $28 a month. So we decided to get e-version a try. The good thing about it is the local news can be tracked back to old news. The bad news is there are no comic strips included in the e-version which I have enjoyed for many years. Also, most advertisements on the print-version are not included. I guess the advertisers have to pay more to appear on both versions. Anyhow, we do miss the print-version.

Updates needed

I recommend the following improvements:

Show the date of each article in article listings and in the byline of each article. This lacking appears to be intentional and is just plain sloppy and misleading reporting.

Include a way to read the newspaper issue by issue and page by page. I can’t easily read “today’s” paper.

Wow, it’s not worth a penny!!!

Let me just start with the spelling and grammar...do you read it before you submit it? No, you don’t!! Your professors would be appalled!!! Wait, did you graduate high school? College? Did you major in journalism? I see maybe one or two new stories on VisaliaTimesDelta , yet the paper has tons of articles. Everything is hush hush, can’t leak anything it may be a secret to Area 51!!! Stop posting everything about the Rona virus!!

Enjoy!

I love having the local news in the palm of my hand. I wish there were a bit more news on the smaller surrounding towns of Visalia but, enjoy it overall.

Doesn’t update

App Doesn’t refresh. Even when an alert comes across my locked screen, I open app and it shows articles from days ago. I pull down on the screen to refresh and it still shows old stories.

Horrible to share

We are supposed to be able to share VisaliaTimesDelta w family. Doesn’t work on my wife’s phone but works for me.
All attempts to get help don’t work. I think they use Covid as an excuse to rip us off.

Great app

This is a great app for local news, the only thing it’s missing is the funnies. Why can’t the comics also be in VisaliaTimesDelta ?

Too little local news

Neither the web version nor the print version makes for worthwhile reading. A slick web site cannot make up for the lack of local reporting. Not much attention paid to either Visalia or Tulare. No measurable reporting on City government, county government or school districts. No measurable effort to report on crime. Certainly no real reporting on community activities. TD now only a one page wrapper for AP stories and a digest of USA Today stories. We stopped the paper for awhile and then gave it another try. We are stopping again and will not try another time. Too bad - once was a first rate local paper.

Great app for my local news

This past few updates have been great for VisaliaTimesDelta. This is my go to app for local news. I don't have local tv and I don't read the newspaper so I come here daily to see what is going on. Keep up the good work

To Much Old Repeated News

I'd like to something positive but its hard. I had not been a subscriber to Times Delta for a number of yrs. so I decided to sign up for the digital online version at a discounted 1 yr. subscription. Unfortunately its the same disapointment as before, to much old news & repeated news.

Stopped updating news!

This used to be a great app but since the beginning of 2017 it stopped updating the news. I even logged off and logged back on to VisaliaTimesDelta and it still has the same old news! Not happy any longer with this service!
