This app doesn’t care about your privacy.

I had HaikuDeck for a school project years ago and it breached my security and now every time anyone googles my name they see pictures of me from when I was 11. It is totally unprofessional and ridiculous for HaikuDeck to not even consider or get back to me on the countless times I’ve contacted them to take the images down. The email used for the account doesn’t even exist anymore and I have no way of entering it in. Please help me I will change the review I just don’t want this to be in my life anymore. I hate HaikuDeck they’ve ruined many opportunities for me by breaching my privacy. It will never go away. Don't trust them with your information!!! Will save you your life.

Review

I think HaikuDeck could be better if you could make your slides private without paying. I don’t like how my haiku decks slides showed up on my profile when you look up my name.

Couldn’t try it due to poor UX

I downloaded HaikuDeck to try it out. I couldn’t get past the first screen because they require you to register first. Of course I immediately exited HaikuDeck to write about my experience. I guess we will never know if HaikuDeck is any good.

Great App!

I love HaikuDeck so much... I teach lessons to a group of Young Men at Church, and they don't always focus when you are just reading out of a book, so I decided to give this a try... I'm glad I did!! The layouts are simple, quick, and easy, yet allow for that bit of creativity and design-ability to make it feel like your own and have your own flair. The ability to import images seamlessly is such a cool feature, I absolutely loved it.

The only thing I have to ask for in an update, is to allow us to alter the type, rather than be tied down to one chosen by the themes; also, allow for the ability for the text to move down onto another line. Obviously the idea of a presentation is to use as little words as possible... But if you wanted to "bullet" something, or had a quote to insert, the text simply gets smaller and smaller, rather than flowing over onto another line. Aside from that, get HaikuDeck! I got it simply for a fun thing to look at, but found HaikuDeck to be applicable in such a way that just allowed it to flourish into something I will be looking forward to using every time I have to give a lesson!!!

Simple, Beautiful, and Effective

HaikuDeck is simply stunning. It is easy to master, and you barely have to read the instructions. It is also a timesaver. To be honest, even though I would never procrastinate, if I had to make a presentation for a business meeting tomorrow and I haven't even started it, I could open Haiku Deck, work on it for maybe thirty minutes, then walk into the room the day after, show it, and get a promotion. Okay, so maybe not the last one, but you would at least wow your meetingmates. Admittedly, there are some situations where PowerPoint or Keynote would work better. You can't add more than one image per slide, for example. Of course, the amazing people at Haiku Deck decided not to be self-centered and made the option to export to PowerPoint and/or Keynote! But the pros far outweigh the cons. The images looks simply amazing coupled with the text and filters. They get a message across really easily and can inspire, convince, and do whatever you want them to do, and you don't even have to be good at making presentations.

Haiku Deck Does One Thing Simply Perfectly

Haiku Deck is the best thing that ever happened to my presentations. Most of the less than 5-star reviews don't get what it's supposed to be. They want it to be PowerPoint. The entire genius of Haiku Deck is that it gently forces you to do what all the most memorable presentations do: keep it simple but beautiful.

HD intentionally restricts the number of words you can put on a slide, but then suggests to you easy-to-add Creative Commons-licensed images that help convey the point. They get your audience thinking metaphorically, subtly enhancing and reinforcing what you are saying (which is the real content, right?). And with the new version you can purchase stock images from Getty if you want (although I hate the obvious look of most stock images.

I would urge anyone considering HaikuDeck to take a moment to go to their web site and peruse the gallery of their most popular decks. You'll get an idea of how powerful this style is from some of the creative people there.

Different and Effective Way to Present

After 20 years of using PowerPoint (PP), I tried Haiku Deck (HD) for the first time a few weeks ago. It's a different metaphor for crafting presentations -- easy to use and highly effective!

PP is really a text machine. With bullets and text as its metaphor, users say way too much. Slides get very busy with all the text. Presenters resort to reading text they've created. Audiences struggle to stay interested and the message is lost.

HD is different. It's a visual machine. Imagery carries the message of the slide with short text statements crystallizing the key point. As a presenter, you're not tied down reading your slide, but engaged with you audience crafting the message through a story.

Creating and editing on the iPad was easy. You generally state your key message in 4-5 words. HD then provides a range of images that represent the thought. The creators of HD have done a remarkable job in this area.

The presentation nicely synchs with a web portal. You can use the iPad to present, but I used the web portal via a browser on my PC to make the presentation.

The approach and new metaphor of HD takes getting used to. However, the end result (message conveyed to audience) came off very well. Highly recommend both the concept of HD and HaikuDeck to help create more effective presentations.

This tool will make you a better presenter

I tried out Haiku Deck after reading a review in the Wall Street Journal and I was instantly hooked. I make a lot of presentations for work and decided to remake one of my boring Power Point presentations as a Haiku Deck. By focusing on one idea for each slide and an impactful, creative-commons licensed image, I was able to create a full presentation for my next meeting in less than 30 minutes. I presented it to my team and they were blown away. Now we're all using Haiku Deck for our weekly meetings, everyone is much more engaged and we're surprised at how much fun it is!

While HaikuDeck isn't for those who cram their slides full of bullet points, tacky clip art, or distracting animations, it's a simple, beautiful app for creating clean, effective presentations quickly and easily.

Awesome option for the classroom

I first tried HaikuDeck when my students were creating group poetry presentations. I thought it would be perfect for two reasons:

1. The image-centric format seemed perfect for poetry
2. My students are presentation robots who paste all their text into slides and read to the class. I was hoping this would force them to improve their presentation skills.

Most of my students (high school freshmen) loved HaikuDeck . A few were frustrated by the text limitations, but I reminded them that was the point. They ended up putting much more effort into both the visual presentation and their oral preparation (since they would have failed if they simply read the one line of text on their slide).

Now that we have used multiple presentation apps in class, I let them choose the one they use and many choose Haiku Deck. The ones who don't are just not comfortable with it yet, but they are always impressed by their classmates' presentations.

Although I don't think it's appropriate for all presentations, this is a great option for many and it is a nice break from the bulleted text+image slide shows we are all used to (and tune out).

A great presentation tool

HaikuDeck is a terrific tool for creating compelling presentations fast. And now the web version extends the capability beyond the iPad.

So many of the pitfalls found in many presentations are avoided with Haiku Deck because HaikuDeck leads you down a path for making effective slides that convey meaning and capture the attention of participants. For example, it's hard or almost impossible to overload a slide with text. And instant image search helps locate relevant images quickly and effortlessly. The easy layouts also eliminate the need for complex steps for arranging content.

Even if you use another presentation tool, add HaikuDeck to your toolbox. It will help make you better at creating engaging slides and turn you into a presentation ninja!

Beautiful Presentations!

I LOVE HaikuDeck! Used it for a presentation at a national conference, and it was perfect. Design is so legible that people in the back of a large room could see my slides. As someone who studies art, I especially appreciate the high quality images in the search function and ability to import my own. The limit on word count also helped refine my ideas. Far superior to clunky templates in Keynote and PowerPoint, which can easily be overloaded with information. I had a few questions about how to scale images and export to ppt file. Customer service was very helpful and answered all my queries promptly. If you are looking for fresh designs and easy sharing, I highly recommend Haiku Deck.

The Perfect Touch

I downloaded this app based on an article in Lifehacker. For the past few years, I have wanted to jazz up my presentations. HaikuDeck has allowed me to do just that. I love the simplicity of preparing the presentation, and the additional clarity that photos bring to my thoughts. And there is incredible opportunity for humor as well. So within my first hour or so, I had drafted three presentations for three different audiences. I delivered the first of these last week, from my IPAD, and it was warmly received. In addition, I must say that the customer service (to help me work through my older software) was excellent and very speedy. I think this is the next best thing to origami. Thank you, Adam!
