Poor Customer Service

I don’t even know where to begin. I’m so frustrated with CJ. You can’t even call them with a problem anymore. No customer service on weekends so if you don’t receive the newspaper you’ve been getting for 4 decades, well, you’re just out of luck! If you call during the week, you MAY get a call back hours later, as their employees work from home as one opened up to me on the phone about 3 months ago when this happened, AGAIN. The CSR’s are very polite but their hands are tied. Honestly feel bad for these ppl bc they get the blame for the delivery department’s fault. You’ll never get the Sunday paper like they use to bring you when they messed up. If I wanted a digital paper, I wouldn’t have signed up for a REAL NEWSPAPER! I will cancel this as of tomorrow bc I’m tired of dealing with CJ. At one time, this was a very good paper. Not anymore! If you see a one star, it’s bc I had to give it otherwise they done deserve one star!

Horrible programming, worse support

I’ve been trying to get this to work for three or four months and I’m totally frustrated with their buggy sign on programming that goes into endless loops on air conditions and are even worse tech-support if you even want to call it that. I had to cancel my paid subscription once and start in with a new email address because they could not figure out how to change my old information, which was wrong. Now I am having the exact same problem I’m just simply trying to change my password so I can’t log on even though I have paid for two months already CourierJournal is not ready for prime time

Needs improvement

Been using CourierJournal for a few months now. It is fine for headline news. However, I have a few suggestions.
1. The obituary interface needs to be improved. When you click on a name to read the info, and then click to go back, you get sent all the way back to the beginning. Surely there is a way so that when you click back you get sent back to the list of names instead of all the way back to page one where you select the obituary section again.
2. Sections other than headlines need to be updated more frequently. For example, the Shopping & Fashion section has had the same stories on it for months. Some new articles, please!

App is nearly useless in managing your account

I want to put a hold on delivery of my print edition, I was able to sign in in one try today, though that alone is usually a frustrating issue. Once signed in, there is no option I could find to manage my account. It only has a manage my i-Tunes account. My subscription is not through I-Tunes. I tried through the website and it’s not working properly either. I get errors or page missing messages.
Another complaint- the privacy settings cannot be changed through CourierJournal . It explains what they are, but does not allow options.
Can’t figure out why a huge media company like Gannet can’t get a decent working website and an app to work properly and actually be useful.

My Data

To log in on this online app it states I Must share data about me. I Do Not like that. You Should Not Require me to share personal information to read the news. How Hypocritical Can You Get??? Want journalists printed from sharing personal knowledge of sources and info but want readers to share personal knowledge to you which literally means sharing with other unknown sources. I certainly didn’t see a Disclaimer about NOT SHARING personal info.

CJ app

HORRIBLE!!!!! Do not subscribe. It hangs up all the time, all the stories' images are impossibly-high resolution (I want the text of the news, not pictures of it. Fine in a printed edition, not fine online.), at least half of the stories have a video component (again, if I want video I'll watch television.) and the writing is horrendous. Most of the reporters and all of the copy editors should be fired. None of them can spell or construct a grammatically correct sentence. Who the heck do these managers hire to write and edit a former Pulitzer Prize winning newspaper? The CJ management appears to have no journalistic pride anymore.

Print news!

I enjoy getting up in the morning walking to the mailbox getting my paper sitting down with a cup of coffee reading the daily news been doing it for 50 years. I do use the Phone app when I'm away from home but nothing beats the feel of newsprint in your hand. Charles

Errors galore

I can’t remember how many times I’ve found errors in this paper! Misspelled words, incorrect grammar, and believe it or not, a story on page 1 that said was continued on page 6, but the story was not there...or anywhere else in the paper. Guess the CJ is too cheap to have someone review the paper prior to printing.

Last week, instead of saying U of L, the title said “U off L”. I sent a message to both the accuracy email and the Editor’s email and never heard a word. No correction was ever made.

The Courier Journal

I no longer live in KY, but I still subscribe to the Louisville Courier Journal. As a Texas A&M journalism student almost forty years ago, we studied the C-J for its exemplary reporting content and layout. I'm glad to see that Gannett has returned to the Pulitzer prize-winning journalism of the Bingham years.

Sharing articles

Sharing links to articles is more complicated than it should be. Adding the intro “check out this article from CJ” and the title of the article is unnecessary, and screws up the ability to share to other apps (such as Firefox). The article title shows up when the link embeds so adding it as part of the shared text is superfluous

Terrible app

Is there a reason you took away account options?? I went to report a missing delivery, a frequent problem we have, only to find there is no options to manage subscription or report delivery issues. I had to log in on my desktop to report the missing paper. This is the 21st century, you know. Most people do their business by phone.

Great app!!

Very easy to get my news at my fingertips in an instant. Super easy to use CourierJournal and layout is very user friendly. Also sends alerts for any break news.

Love it!

I always enjoyed the news paper but I love it even more by being able to read it from the my phone whenever I have free time.

Read every day!

Very easy to read and I like being able read when I have a few minutes.

Courier journal

Driving me crazy. Can’t get my iPad to show a larger sized section.
Can’t sign in or out, just get the headlines from several days ago. Just noticed that I was charged again for the e edition but not very happy.

Pretty good, but has flaws

A nicely presented local news app; however, it's VERY common for a breaking news flash to be a dead link. Fix that inconsistency and I'll give it 5 stars.

Updated review: CourierJournal is much smoother and links have worked; HOWEVER, clickbait is now embedded in the user experience. May stop subscription.

OK but keep working

A great source during the day for local news. The updated national news through USA today is weak to lacking.

Keeps improving at the local level.

Let’s get back to the real news!

To much one sided left leaning articles. I believe that true honest reporting on today’s news has been lost from the CJ! The paper is not the same as what I read daily from 1955 till 1983! Sorry to be so blunt, but that’s how I feel!

Horrible service

USA Today and the Courier Journal service is horrible. Print delivery is inconsistent. I have missed the paper 8 out of the last 14 days. I’ve been a subscriber for 40 plus years. The website doesn’t allow me to sign in. The application will not allow me to read anymore articles. My account is current. It’s time to get your act together.

Keeping tabs on LouKy and beyond

The news app is a quick and efficient way to stay informed about what’s going on in the area.

I enjoy reading the paper everyday-wish you could access more of the paper with the subscription

Can't log in

Since the update, I am unable to log in to CourierJournal . Spent several minutes on the phone with Diane in "customer service" who initially told me that it must be a problem with my device (iPad)..
Finally acknowledged that there is a problem with CourierJournal . I was insulted by her attitude.
Her advice was basically to forget CourierJournal and log in through the browser......why have CourierJournal ???

Not happy

About every four days CourierJournal will not sign in to my account- will not recognize my password. I delete CourierJournal , reinstall, enter the same password and it works. This AM it will not even let me get to the sign in page- it says Bad Gateway, so I deleted again, restarted my IPad and it still won’t work. I also deleted the cache but that doesn’t help either.

Informed!

If you love to be on top of the news with updated notifications, you need to use CourierJournal!

My home when away from the Ville

I long to return to my birthplace but alas have been gone since ‘79

By

Notifications are not categorized properly

I have only news and breaking news turned on for notifications. I get 10-15 sports notifications a day. It’s so annoying. I may cancel my subscription just for this reason alone.

Easy to Use App

I find the CJ app great when I am away from my paper copy. The update alerts let me know what is happening in Louisville.

Appreciate the Courier-Journal app

Living in the Lexington market area and being a true University of Louisville fan, the Courier-Journal app is my major source of information for my teams. Thank you.

Too glitchy

It's not intuitive and functions that we are supposed to have access to like comics and crossword are impossible to find. You have to use the search bar, and then when it goes to the page, it glitches and freezes and never loads.
