Great App

Always good to have a reference when needed. Does need a better way to display text. Sometimes hard to read.

Don't update!

This version stinks. Now it has some kind of DIY website in place of the favorites. The text is impossible to read, as the background is transparent over a bunch of social media links, or has a giant check mark or X over it.
I hate that Apple will not let you roll back to previous versions.

Old Boy Scout

This is a good site for reviewing knots that have been previously learned years before. I wish it had more explanation about the parts of the rope and building knots for the beginner.

Great for what U paid for! Try it!

1) I've been in the fire service (paid) for going on 20 yrs now, and though all of these aren't relevant to that field, it's a good little app for the price! 2) Those whining people regarding the content, etc. GO MAKE YOUR OWN FOR FREE & let's compare apps! Whoever made this put time/effort into it for some people out there to learn/reference. 3) Last but not least, I hope there's the possibility of additional knots via upgrades and/or an ad-free version maybe with other features like "saving your favorite knots" in a .99 paid version perhaps. Overall it's a great app given the content/price! Try it!!

Not Bad But Could Definitely Be Improved

Not bad. It does give excellent and easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions in how to tie the knots, but the explanations of what each knot is for are impossible to read before they disappear, which will leave a beginner in the lurch without knowing when each should best be used. This needs to be part of the existing user-controlled "how-to" sequence.

Downloading the majority of the knots is weird but isn't really such a big deal, but that section contains most of the most commonly used and useful knots, instead of putting them in the first section! Seems a bit backward to me.

It would be nice if they were alphabetized - but also if they could be sorted by most common/most frequently used, as well as easiest to hardest.

And as others have also mentioned, there's no square knot for some reason! This is *the* most basic useful knot there is, and arguably the most important. It's absolutely inconceivable to leave it out of any knot-tying reference. It's a very easy knot, but one which people often screw up.

The best use of Animated3DKnots as a result of all this is for those who already know when to use each knot but just need a refresher on how to execute it. A beginner will certainly also learn a great deal, but should also consult other references to find out when each knot is best used.

It is great at what it does

Animated3DKnots is great for learning knots if you know what you want to learn, or if you go through all of them to explore. Note that you will need to tap the text to reopen the descrption, as it closes too quickly to read it all. Only thing I can think of to make it better would be some sort of 'best of' feature that would show the best knot for a particular situation. Having never seen that anywhere, it can hardly be labeled a shortcoming, more of a suggestion for the future. Does exactly what you would expect, and does it well.

Great FREE info, appreciated!

However the application itself could use some smoothing out. Like the first page of the knot chosen, the info page, the text box is a little irradical. Opening and closing at every slightest touch. It's especially annoying when you are trying to scroll down to read the rest of the interesting history of the knot and other intriguing information provided. Also, as with other apps I have tried, (which is quite a few) it would be more helpful if there was more contrast with the rope and the background. Perhaps a gradient color for the rope against a black background? I like the diversity of the knots shared in Animated3DKnots and love that it is free. Thanks so much!
