Knots 3D - How To Tie Knots Reviews

I have been using Knots3D for a few years now and have never regretted paying for it. I am an arborist and it has been helped for reference, research, and practice.

The one suggestion I would offer is to carry the animation through to the set and dressed version of the knot. Some animations stop just before this critical stage in knotting.

Deleting, but will check back for updates: I got the game a few days ago, love it, don't care about the ads. But the setting and rope options were too easy and quick to unlock, I usually delete games when there's nothing left to unlock.      ​  

This is really the best knot app I've ever seen. I reference it all the time for proper technique, as knot tying is a perishable skill. Knots3D owners continually update with new knots, fixes and improvements. Buy it, you won't regret it! Aug 2018 update: very happy to see that Knots3D team is continually improving Knots3D and adding new knots.

This is a dying art and is important for all to learn. Most people can just barely tie a granny knot and their shoes. The 3D view has helped me, many times that I struggled with an unfamiliar knot. I hope that Knots3D helps others, as it has helped me.

Fun little game for when I'm having anxiety and need to just concentrate on something thats kind of mindless (and I don't mean that in a bad way). I only wish you could do more with your "points" ... maybe side challenges or something IDK.     

I love tying knots but can’t remember them all. Knots3D is perfect to help learn them all and brush up on ones forgot. Beautifully done. Wish there was a way to pause and backup but I haven’t figured how to if it does.

This is one of the best Knots apps that I have seen. The illustrations are very colorful and easy to follow. As a person in the medical field, I hope they would include some knots and sutures types in different wound closure techniques. Thank You!

I wish there was a search option on the homepage, but this is the only “complaint” I have. Great app.

I’ve always had a hard time tying knots but this program makes it easy now with 3D it’s amazing, if you want to learn how to tie a certain knot this is Knots3D for you. I Love It!

Well done app. It does a great job of illustrating how the knots are tied. I like that you can slow it down and use your finger to scroll back and forth.

Great animations Clear, simple animations guide you through the most complex knots, bends and hitches. Paid for Pro and have had none of the issues reported by others.   ​    

Other than a search option I can't imagine this being better.

Just the tool I was looking for to teach Cub Scouts some basic knots. I like that it even has a "Scout" section. Disappointed because I didn't think of this first.

This is a straightforward great app. The animations are done well, and you can adjust playing speed. Also works offline!

No complaints! 5 stars remain but how could you not include trucker's hitch. UK version is my favourite, by the way. Also, doesn't work in landscape mode.      

Easy to learn with various speed control of the illustrations. I like the background information on the knots.

I recommend Knots3D to all Fire Recruits. Easy to follow, refresher training after hours.

My son is a Boy Scout, and thus makes it so much easier for him to learn knots!! And I’m learning too ...I love Knots3D

I downloaded this based on the overall reviews rating and it was “free,” admittedly without reading the actual reviews. Not sure how this is not false advertisement. You cannot look at a single knot without paying about $5. Is $5 potentially reasonable? Maybe. But how would I know without being able to see or do any knots before purchase? It’s pretty shady to boast and show reviews about how great you are, then not let anyone see any of the software before charging for it. It’s like me standing there and saying, it’s a free show ladies and gentlemen. And then once you walk into the theatre, telling you it’s $5 to turn the projector on. Just be upfront and stop trying to swindle.

Just installed app no search option. Can’t navigate back to the main menu. Seems there are a few pieces missing for a developer who’s been at this for a while.

From previous reviews, it seems like you used to be able to test Knots3D without spending money before.

No longer, unless I am missing something. It looks like every single knot is behind the $4.99 pay wall now as of Sept 2022.

It claims to be free but is a trick to get you suckered in. Downloading Knots3D is the ONLY thing that is free. You cannot see one single knot without paying $5 once you get into Knots3D .

I may have actually paid the $5 to unlock the whole thing if it wasn’t portrayed as free but completely locked down. Junk!

Just like all this other one stars, Knots3D is dishonest being advertised as free. It’s basically a list of knots but to see anything it cost $4.99. You can’t even see a square knot without paying. I might consider paying but not with this kind of dishonesty.

I never left a review for an app, but this one prompted me to do it. It’s advertised as free, with in-app purchases. But the fact is you cannot see a single knot without paying for the premium version. Just be upfront about this and not make people waste their time.

Most pictures to show you how to create the knot are cut off on the ipad. You can't scale the image to get the view of the image needed to create the knot. very disappointed. waste of money spent on upgrade to Knots3D .

When clicking the knot categories then clicking the knot you won’t be shown anything without purchasing. Instead you get a popup to buy the upgraded version.

Very helpful. I love that it give you the option to see knots from different angles ​  ​‍ 

Shows as free app, but NOTHING works unless you buy the “PREMIUM” for $5. Every know you click on shows pop up rewriting you to buy. Complete BAIT AND SWITCH GARBAGE. When will app stores start policing properly, and when will developers be honest about their apps.

You can’t go back after selecting a knot without exiting Knots3D . It also forces you to buy the premium version after downloading to access any of the knots.

I do not recommend Knots3D. It’s not free and when you do pay it’s just a bunch of photos. No videos. Buy the $5.99 app from the other folks Knots3D ripped the idea off of.

The only thing that’s free is the download. You have to pay for every single knot. Y’all need to do better and quit trying to fool people.

The real app you have to pay upfront. Knots3D is the inferior app. The real app animates the instructions making it clear. The real app is called Knots 3D with no text after in Knots3D Store. It has red and yellow rope in logo.

The most annoying aspect of Knots3D is the lack of a BACK button. When you choose a category such as Boating, you can then only see those knots. To choose another category, you have to hard stop Knots3D and restart it. Also, there was no “free” know to see how Knots3D works.

FOLLOW UP: The developer did contact me saying you swipe left to right to go back but that doesn’t work. Also said no free sample. Since I can’t see at least one sample of a rope tie, I won’t bother trying Knots3D again. Not recommended.

This happens to be one of the most atrocious apps I’ve ever had. You shouldn’t have purchase a premium to learn all the knots there’s not a single knot in Knots3D that you can view with out a premium if I could give this negative stars I would

They expect you to pay without even being able to see how Knots3D works in a single knot. Seriously. How about do like every other app and have ads? Then supply the knots for free and get funding from ad revenue? Knots3D is lame. I’d skip it.

I just installed Knots3D . No matter which category or type I clicked, Knots3D was not able to display anything! Total waste of my time!
