Any app can have problems and errors but Skyward dev continues putting the effort for maintenance. Skyward dev is not working on it for years. But the school system uses it. So we have to carry on this burden.
The notification does not work with Skyward . Once hitting the notification, Skyward does not show the exact notification information. Multiple notifications don’t work at all obviously. Sign-in process is traditionally do it is vulnerable for attack/hacking.

It needs work or the school system needs to change the dev vendor. We don’t want to spend my tax on such a horrible app.

Skyward has been very helpful in the past to be able to quickly check grades and to check food balance and other info. Recently the grading doesn’t update and it hasn’t updated in over a month. It will update on the online desktop version but not the apps. It also is frustrating to have the link for app support take you directly to a page not found website. On top of this, the program is buggy and there hasn’t been an update released for a while to fix any of this. I hope an update will be released soon. Skyward has a lot of potential to be very helpful and to introduce new features to this app. I hope Skyward developers can fix this!

I have been using this app to view my grades and register for classes since I began middle school in sixth grade. No other app we use in school has ever come close to being as frustrating and just plain awful to use as this app. The website already had many problems such as the horrible user interface, freezing randomly, and just flat out not working most of the time, and all of these things unsurprisingly are present on the mobile version as well. This apps user interface is extremely cluttered which makes it annoying to navigate. On top of that, it is very ugly and everything is very small which just makes it inconvenient to click or look at. I wouldn’t mind this too much if Skyward would actually work when you interacted with it. More than half of the time when you click a button or a drop down it will freeze and take 5 or more seconds to load. This adds to the overall clunky and unpolished feel of the entire app.

freaking i downloaded this app when i was in 6th grade and everythings been fine but now its glitching real bad and gave my phone a virus. i have parental restrictions and cant access anything sketchy and Skyward seemed a little sketchy from the start :// i only use this phone for school and i am certain this app gave me the virus. anyway, i got locked out of my phone and the sound wouldnt turn off. it kept saying “this app ..” and reading off pretty much everything in Skyward . i took it to apple n they said theyve never seen anything like it and i had to get a new phone. please dont get Skyward

Skyward has been in Skyward Store, available as a platform to check homework and manage school for eight years, and yet it still seems to have problems expected in a relatively new app.
Skyward is not as navigable as it has the potential to be, and the performance thereof is extremely glitchy. Also, the extra security with that ridiculous passcode is unnecessary. I’ve used apps with much less security to safeguard more private information. It’s not as if I care if people get a glimpse at my straight A’s either. And what’s the major threat with a glitchy school-sponsored app? That someone will hack in and do my homework for me? Sure wouldn’t want that to happen. 🙄
In addition, Skyward crashes when one switches from app to app, or even accidentally presses the home button. I am almost certain this is an easy fix, considering I have no other apps with this problem.
Looking at the version history, it doesn’t seem like Skyward developers at this app have noticed their early-2000s quality graphics or utter dysfunction of their app; they haven’t even reached a second version of Skyward (despite it desperately needing updates) which goes to show that these developers are not trying hard enough.

So do us all a favor, this app, and update your app!

I used to use this to check my grades and I never had a problem with it. But recently, it has been stuck on the “Verifying...” screen forever after I put my password in. I deleted Skyward and re-downloaded it just to find out that it won’t let me search for my School District. Anytime I start typing I see a pop up that says “Please check to ensure you have a Wi-Fi or other data connection and try again. I have turned my WiFi on and off and even tried using my data but it still didn’t work. Therefore I believe that this is a problem with your services, especially since I have seen this problem in other reviews from as far back as October. Listen to the reviews and fix this.

Half the time it does not recognize my face ID while I have no issues with this on other apps. Sometimes it does not recognize my passcode. Other times it tells me I have invalid credentials even though my login info is current and I haven’t changed anything. The push notifications are only temporary and do not show up other than the single time they originally are displayed; when you go to look at Skyward later it does not show you the new info and you can’t go back later to find what it was because it does not save them in the notification screen. I receive push notifications about administrative messages and it displays the same messages that were there before. This would be a good app if not for all the bugs.

Skyward hasn’t worked for me since I downloaded it. My work and district use this app and I thought it would be convenient but hasn’t worked yet. Skyward allows students and teachers to log in but not the school employees. I have yet been able to use Skyward and instead use the internet. I’ve given up at this point on it. Hopefully they come out with one for employees.

It worked sort of well before, but -after accidentally logging out of my account- I cannot login. I examined the problem, and, as it turns out, a core service that this app should provide to Skyward is not being provided: the ability to search for a school district. No matter what WiFi configuration I use, Skyward throws an error saying I have a bad WiFi or network issue, when, in reality, the service they programmed Skyward to use to search for a school district is unavailable. Go figure. Skyward is completely unusable due to this; I cannot login at all.

Skyward rarely works. It’s great when it works correctly but it often won’t connect. Sometimes when it finally connects it keeps the password keyboard up that you can’t exit out of and you can’t view your grades. Sometimes it glitches and stops working altogether. Every once in awhile it will say something along the lines of mobile access won’t work. Sometimes it won’t let me view my grades because it won’t switch off of my sisters account no matter how many times I click the arrow to switch people. Over all it just isn’t that great of an app.

Although Skyward works it’s not the best. It’s nice that it auto signs out when you clear Skyward and that it recognizes you fingerprint as a sign in option. But, if you switch apps it and then return without fully closing Skyward it crashes, which is extremely annoying, especially if you accidentally click the home button.

This is for this app in general, why do I have to change my password every six months?! Why?! Every other password protected service doesn’t make you switch your password and, most of the time, they have more personal/sensitive information than your grades. I personal could care less if someone else saw my grades, but I get why people wouldn’t like to have their password stolen and people be able to see their grades. But. It should have an option to make it so you didn’t have to change your password every six months.

Tl:dr - it’s buggy, has its problems, but it does what it needs to.

Update: I regretfully updated to the newest version and now can’t log in at all. I should have read the reviews like I usually do before updating. School ends in a week so hopefully it will be fixed by the start of the next school year.

As a parent, I have used Skyward to keep up to date with my kids grades as well as school events through the messaging section. It is great except using on the iPhone. Messages are cut off and links embedded into them always crashes Skyward when clicked onto them. I rarely if ever use my desktop or laptop, so please fix Skyward to work on the iPhone 8 and up.

You guys went to all the effort of having push notifications that tell me my kids got a grade in a specific class on a specific assignment… why not take it that last step and tell me WHAT score they got so that I don’t have to then open Skyward to see if it’s something I need to discuss with them or congratulate them on? Skyward would be a billion times more awesome if it’s notifications weren’t “hey add dealing with Skyward that features an unfriendly interface and choppy load times to your to do list in order to get information we could’ve just given you!” Come on

I have been using Skyward for a very long time to check my grades and while it has have had its moments, it was overall fine. This entire app though recently won’t let me access it even though I logged in with WiFi on! At first, I thought this was a glitch and would check my grades another day, but every single time I do it had the same error. I am now convinced it is your faulty service and I also have seen many other reviews complaining about the same issue. If your school uses this service, use the website version as it is much better. If the developers do change this problem though, I will edit this post and change my rating.

It is a great app, but after about three weeks of having it, it is being a little bit funky. It logged me out saying I had a lot of invalid passcodes, yet I all my information was right, and I didn’t even log in for a couple of days, so it’s impossible. And now it won’t log me back in even when I deleted my account, and Skyward , and tried everything all over again, but it won’t take anything. It is just too strict and it won’t let me do anything, no matter how hard I try. So now I can’t see my grades and projects, and things due. Over all, it has some things they might need to fix, but it’s a good app.

I obviously love being able to take attendance for my classes from my phone, and I love being able to know when my own child’s grades change and see how he’s doing. However, if you unlock your phone, the notification is gone; you can only see it once. Also, with the most recent update, I no longer receive notifications at all, and I am NOT happy with this. I checked my phone settings and the settings within Skyward , and they’re both set to receive all notifications. This needs to be addressed.

Skyward works fairly well, does it’s base job of displaying grades. However, the UI seems to be just a simplified version of a website, not an actual native app, which makes it somewhat cumbersome to use. It would be nice if grades less than 48 hrs old were bolded or somehow highlighted to help me identify new grades easily; a notification that new grades have posted would be awesome.

I see no use for the calendar function at all, though that may be because teachers just aren’t using it.

Also, can you please make it possible to hide dropped classes? This is possible in the web-based version, but not in Skyward .

My school uses this app for students to use for checking grades, attendance, disciplines, etc. I personally feel like the platform is very good for what it’s intended for. No, the mobile app isn’t as advanced as the desktop version in my opinion, but it still works good. I guess I don’t really have anything else to say since it’s main purpose is simple lol.

Also, pretty much everything said with Skyward crashing, lagging, etc. is all made up, or it’s a problem that has nothing to do with Skyward itself. Skyward “crashing” when you close out of it for a second is because “Background App Refresh” is on in your phone’s settings. And your password having to be reset is your school’s choice, not Skyward ’s. (no I don’t work on the this app staff)

Skyward is amazing! It helps me keep track of my grades, while at the same time keeping me up to date on things from my district! I don’t have any problems, and the structure of Skyward is incredible for use to inform me on information for my parents and myself! I don’t see why people rate Skyward so badly, they probably just don’t want their parents seeing their grades... Ha! Amazing app, amazing interface, great structure!

Skyward is so well done!! At first I hated it because it wouldn’t let me type in my school district or anything. But then the next day, I decided to give it a try. It worked!! And now, I can check my grades whenever I want to. Skyward is so good, and for the people who had the same problem typing in your district or something, wait 1 or 2 days and it should work perfectly!

It doesn’t show you your whole paystub, you can’t actually print the paystub to see it in it’s entirety either, you literally see the three bits of information that is shown on the screen, and True Time is buggy as all get out.
Oh, and 65% of it is disabled if I’m not on my work’s WiFi anyways, so, why do I have this??
I literally downloaded it so I could check my pay and make sure my whole check from my 3 different school district jobs were all happening and that’s LITERALLY the one thing I can’t see.

I use Skyward all the time and it’s been pretty good but for the past couple of weeks it hasn’t been updating my grades. If I log in through the website it works and I can see my current grades but on Skyward it’s not up to date. Some may not realize this and it will make them think they’re grades are still the same when that’s not actually the case.

I check this app regularly and often notice what grades are new and what are not. However, long after I confirm my grade I get a notification that the same assignment was graded. It’s useless! It doesn’t notify me before I even check it, so what’s the point of even having alerts. The setup is pretty old and glitchy itself too. I think the design needs an update, as it’s been the same for the past five or so years.

Although there are many problems with Skyward, I still feel like it does what it’s supposed to do. Its U.I. is fairly simple and is a pleasure to look at. The only reason why I’m going to give this 4 stars is because of the fact that 30% of its different features such as career goals or endorsement progress are COMPLETELY useless because I’ve found that mine, and many other teachers have never used those features.

I’ve been using Skyward since 2014 and it’s been fine. I loved when they updated the whole mobile system in May of 2015 it looks so much cleaner now than it did 4 years ago. However, sometimes when I go to get on the system, it loads while it says authorizing and nothing more. It typically starts working again the next day. It’ll do this maybe a couple times a week.
