Updated app

They did an update recently and it is awful. Everything that they changed made logging things harder. You can’t easily scroll through each child’s info you have to select the child then deselect before moving to the next one where before I could just push an arrow to get to the next child. You have to deselect a child before changing to a different child where before what ever child I clicked, it took you to that child’s logged info. This is causing us to log stuff on both children’s info when not trying to. They used to have a number in the bottom corner to tell you how many kids you had logged in which helped know your number a lot but they got rid of that. There is so much more extra clicking now that I don’t have time for. Glad we are switching to a different app soon.

DO NOT USE!!!!

We had Tad pools app prior to our kids school switching over to this lame excuse for an app. So first off all the things you like and enjoy about Tadpools app will never exist in kid reports. My two year old probably could have designed and built a better app than this company. It’s antiquated at best. It’s not user friendly. Your pictures and videos look like they were taken on an iPhone 3. It’s horrible.
But it’s cheap. It’s soooo much cheaper for the school using it and they don’t care since it’s benefits the school not the parents.
If you have any say so before your school switches to KidReports stop them. Plead with them. Tell them to charge you more money. You will not like KidReports in the least and will regret losing access to whatever app you use now.

Buggy and slow

Writing a review is perhaps not quite useful as most of us don’t have a choice in using KidReports - it’s what fits in with our daycare’s system.
Getting daily and detailed updates is great but KidReports will be almost as frustrating as taking care of a two year old yourself.

KidReports is slow and confusing to use. It does not follow many recommended iOS HMI guidelines - it feels like it is written either using a bad generic app framework (instead of natively) or by a very inexperienced developer.

Secondly, every update brings new bugs. At the latest redesign they switched where things were placed in KidReports . Messages showed up on top of each other. An update came a few days later but currently messages view only displays the first line of a message - still making KidReports completely useless. The developer does not seem to do a good job at release testing.

Right now I don’t hope KidReports will improve - I hope my kids will grow up so that I don’t have to use it anymore.

From a teachers point of view.

I work as a child care teacher at a school that uses KidReports, and it beyond my least favorite part of work. It constantly crashes, it never works outside, and have the time it doesn’t register anything we input until hours after. The parents are constantly complaining about a miss sent picture that never really sent. There’s also the fact that we can’t send videos longer than 20 seconds to parents without the whole app breaking. By far the worst app I have ever had the displeasure of using. If I could give negative stars I would.

Needs some (lots of) work.

While I’ve never found KidReports “easy” to use after this latest updated it is virtually impossible to read messages in KidReports . It’s like all of the messages open and layer over each other and unless I delete all but the most recent message (assuming I can manage to hit the delete button for the others and not the most recent when I can’t read them) I can’t read any of them.

Prior to this update KidReports still wasn’t great. I would often have to save my daily activities (recent meal and toileting times) multiple times to get them to actually show up for our teachers.

I do like that it retains a list of commonly entered foods and the most recent times so I don’t have to scroll forever to add things. And it is nice to see photos of my kiddo when the teachers send them.

All that said: It’s what our daycare uses so we don’t have a choice but given the option I would choose something more functional.

Will this app ever work?

This is the worst app I have ever used. It’s so full of bugs and since our daycare switched from Tadpoles its been nothing but BS. It hasn’t worked in about a week. With not being allowed in the building because of Corona this type of app is essential to daycare’s relationships with parents. Seriously disappointed that our daycare uses this crappy app. We may as well not have one at all.

Clunky

KidReports is clunky and seems dated at best. Few recommendations for ease of use:
-Include more categories outside of daily routine (Nap, Toileting etc) rather than having all lumped into one
- Pictures are slow to load and dimensions can be skewed when viewing
- I don’t receive push notifications or have the option to opt-in or opt-out. Would recommend offering push notifications and give parents the options for which ones they would like to receive (example, opt in to picture push notifications but out of toileting push notifications).
-App will not update activities unless I fully close out KidReports and come back in.
-Ability to include picture within an activity category (example Nap time could have the option to include picture).
-Logging in is odd. It asks for a password but will only let me login if I leave the password field blank.

Archaic and clunky

KidReports is so far behind others. My daycare uses it so I have to or I’d delete it. Photos show up skewed and out of aspect and if you want to download any it is very slow and must be done individually. You can’t reply to a reply in the messages section. I can tell it’s hard for the teachers to use it too. It is overall unpleasant to use and seems like it was made to barely function then abandoned, I sincerely hope there are some significant updates and improvements coming. I am going to recommend another app to my daycare chain.

Recent Updates Make App Unusable

Recent updates are garbage. Messaging between parents and teachers was removed and no more refresh button within KidReports . I have to close it and reopen to see any update. Messaging is essential since parents aren’t allowed in classrooms to talk to teachers due to COVID19. This takes away all communication between parents and teachers.

Can be better if few things address

I think KidReports has good core functions but just user Interface needs to be friendly and for sure should be easy to use and lot of performance issues needs to be addressed. Whenever I wish to see new activity and I need to go back and forth so that I can see updated activity. All issues I believe can be addressed easily. Keep up good work. You can do it.

Issues upon issues since April

KidReports has been a disaster for almost a month. I’m a parent and it has me signed in as a staff member so I can edit my child’s daily activities. This was not how I viewed her activities before. And I am always nervous when I check KidReports that I will accidentally change something. I’ve contacted the contact@this app email twice and no one has responded. We love our daycare but KidReports is a disaster. Today I can’t get in again. I highly suggest you review your customer service and KidReports . It was much better before April.

Great App

Not sure why it is poorly rated. I have had absolutely no issues with it since my daughter started at this day care. This is a great app where you can see the educational activities, meals, naptimes, potty training and pictures of your kids throughout the day. This was not offered at her previous daycare, so it brings me peace of mind that I know what my child is doing.

Worst app!

I change my son school and I haven’t been able to have access to the new schools daily reports. Kid reports has no costumer services for parents. I called and I’m told they are not allowed to talk to parents. We are the reason your app still exist so you should be able to communicate with us. I have been annoying my sons daycare as if they didn’t have better things to do about helping me figuring out this issue. I’ve sent 2 emails kindly explaining the situation and I keep getting the same answer; reason I type this review!!!! Worst app ever !

Not getting updates

Since the most recent iOS update KidReports has lost total usefulness. I no longer receive updates throughout the day and have no idea what’s going on with my child. I attempted to contact support and was told all app support has to be directed to my childcare provider. My provider tried to find an answer and was essentially told KidReports isn’t updated to work with current iOS. That was over a week ago and this app still doesn’t seem capable of functioning as designed. I hope my daycare switched providers SOON

Latest Release

This latest version of KidReports has made it unusable to a point I no longer bother to use it daily. The format of the pictures in the activities is awful. The preview window needs to be extended substantially vertically. If I click on the picture, the next pop out window still shows the same terrible May format picture. If I open it in the browser,m (safari), it then distorts the picture where it over extends vertically. This current release may be the worst app I have on my phone.

Gets the job done but newest update needs work!

Gets the job done but newest update needs work! I echo a previous review that the newest update has me giving the messaging part of KidReports a NEGATIVE star review. Cannot see messages as they are overlapped in the inbox and when you can click on an individual message, one line of the message shows and is missing the rest of the content. Please fix this as it is essential for the purpose of KidReports ! Thank you!

Not user friendly at ALL

KidReports is the worst app I’ve ever used. I have to use it with my son’s daycare but I always anticipate some update or bug that will interfere with inputting or reading daily reports. Since KidReports is used to communicate the daily activities of children in daycare, I want it to work so badly so I can check up on how my son is doing but your lack of care in making KidReports seems like you have no regard for parents. Please update KidReports, make it more user friendly, and have some consideration for parents and childcare workers

Disappointed

KidReports used to work fairly well (still was kind of clunky, but at least it worked). There is a new update and now I can’t even log in. The screen to log in just goes nowhere. I tried different passwords and when I use those it tells me “invalid login credentials,” so I KNOW I’m using the correct info when the screen goes no where. So frustrated since I really rely on this for communication with the teachers since Covid and not being able to enter the building. Please fix this!!!!!

This ‘app’ is terrible.

KidReports is so poorly designed and developed that I don’t know where to start. It’s not a native app, just a bunch of web views loaded in. The user interface is atrocious. The admin is broken (can’t even change settings in KidReports . Have to log into the website to set up alerts). Stipulation, invest in a graphic designer or UI/UX specialist. My daycare just swapped from brightwheel to this, presumably for financial reasons. I can only hope it’s cheap to be on the platform because the product itself needs a ton of work.

Needs work and updates

In theory KidReports would be wonderful for a parent to be able to keep tabs and updates on her child while working, however KidReports doesn’t save information and doesn’t work half the time and then makes me as a parent concerned and take time from work to call the daycare and see what’s going on. Also will not let you save videos that the teachers send to you from KidReports on your phone
