What Happened to the App?

I have used this app to read the Chronicle for several years with no problems until the last two days when it has been completely non-functional - endless spinning and attempts to reload with no results. I have deleted and reinstalled the app and can log in but can’t get to the current (or any) issue. Calls to the paper have yielded no improvement ( looks like the USA Today takeover of the local paper have not improved the paper or app’s function). Please fix this issue so I can again try to read local news. Thank you.
Why pay for this content?

December 2020 update puts a paywall on the iPhone version of this app that wasn’t there before. I didn’t use it much before. Looks like I’ll use it even less now. There are too many sources of free news to pay for the scant offerings that cannot be read elsewhere for free.
