Light experience of web app

PivotalTracker is a light version of what the web app can do. I use it at work and for my personal projects. I normally rely on the web version but sometimes use the mobile app while not in front of a computer and there is an idea I would like to flash out as a bundle of stories. Works great!

Latest update ruined pictures

The last update performed screwed up the way you could add screenshots to PT. I can only add a couple pics and never add more to my “Recents” folder. This feature is essential. Please go back to the way it was before where I could just choose whatever I wanted from my photo library.

Yikes

I try over and over to use the mobile app on iPad and otherwise. Pivotal is such a deep seeded part of my daily workflow on so many levels. PivotalTracker does not do pivotal justice and if it wasn’t for my workflow at the office using pivotal by other powers that be, i would jump ship on pivotal all together. I can’t get behind a program that doesn’t use their own products.

Comments don’t work

I tried to comment on a ticket but PivotalTracker didn’t display my comment even after refreshing so I posted it again, it still didn’t show up so I uninstalled PivotalTracker so that I could access the web interface. Lo and behold, there were both of my comments, making me look like an idiot. I won’t be reinstalling PivotalTracker .

Cant load any project or ticket on mobile app

Whenever I try to open a ticket it just shows a spinner for 3min and then says there’s error loading. Completely useless on mobile now. Please fix.

Abandoned?

No update for years. Links to commits don’t work, reviews not editable, many crucial features of the web app missing.

App crashes after adding a story

When I add a story to a project, PivotalTracker crashes. When I reopen PivotalTracker and tap the story, PivotalTracker crashes. It seems like something is up with the current version of PivotalTracker .

Where are delivered stories??

Why can you view all stories accept the ones you want to accept or reject???

By

Useless

Wants you to sign in but there’s no way to create an account or get started.

Used to be 5 stars

As a long time user, our team has now made this a central part of our product development. A release or two ago they made a change such that the person who "starts" a story automatically gets set as the owner of that story, even if they specified a different team member as the owner.

When we asked their support team why they did this, and why they couldn't have at least made it a configurable option, they gave no good reason and no commitment to fix it. What used to be a perfectly reasonable process for a model like ours where we have a product manager opening and starting stories now wastes us a ton of time having to go find the story after we open it, change the owner, then save it again.

So they lose 1 star for not understanding their customer, 1 star for the regression in functionality, and the 3rd star for not lining to our feedback or caring about what we paying customers think.

Awesome improvements

I had used the Pivotal Tracker app in the past and it only allowed me to view my project if memory serves. PivotalTracker allows me to do pretty much every part of my work flow on the go. It's great.

I recently started a new project. In my work setting we have been trying out other project tracking tools since I first introduced them to Pivotal about 3 years ago. With the addition of epics, sub tasks and other great features, I personally have come back in full force, especially since there is an easy to use mobile app.

My only gripe is the sometimes slow updating of stories. You hit a button and get forced into a waiting section and that can be a little cumbersome. I guess another very minor complaint is having to actively hit the sync button when opening the project, but that is just once per app launch so it is not that big of a deal.

It would also be nice to have the buttons to advance the stories to the next state, but I know real estate is limited.

Great work and I can't wait to dive back into my favorite project tracking tool.

It Just Works!

I downloaded PivotalTracker to better understand "agile vs. waterfall" at my work. But, I have found I now personally use this for almost anything that takes me 30 minutes or more. It became the type of to-do list I needed.

Regarding auto sync, once I learned to look for the blue in the sync button, I was happy. Please don't add auto-sync without an option to disable, I have a slow shared network and don't want to wait for the sync every time I launch PivotalTracker .

Overall, great app for my personal productivity.

Great app, finally for free, how it should've been from the very beginning

I am a web-developer and my company uses Pivotal Tracker to manage four different projects. Recently I bought iPhone and decided to find an app. About two weeks before this one was released, I found another free app and tried it. It wasn't fancy enough for me, and I decided to pay 5 bucks for TrackerBot. Was surprised, liked it, it was 100% worth money. And then finally they acquired it and made it free! Good job guys, but couldn't you make it earlier?

Great supplement to the website

First of all, this review is for the PT app, not the website which I think is spectacular. Let me also state that my expectation is to be able to use PivotalTracker as a replacement for the website. At this time, I feel like I still need to hit the website for certain features. The functionality PivotalTracker currently has works well, but I think it's missing a few things:
-Real time updates (push instead of pull, similar to the website)
-The ability to see burn down charts
-Better search functionality in the way of using my saved searches and being able to bring up search results based on context (e.g. Maybe tap and hold any item to automatically form the search, similar to clicking on a label on the website)
-Create new projects/edit current project settings

Other than that, PivotalTracker is a great supplement to the website.

A fine tool

Yesterday I gave this one star, today I give it 5. Pivotal's support bothered to answer an inquiry on a Sunday, to acknowledge that there was a sporadic issue-- a crash on login caused the lack of an API key on the website; and you merely have to go to the website and generate a new key to get into PivotalTracker on iPhone or iPad-- and to promise to get a release out shortly that obviates the need for the workaround.

Edge cases happen and do bad things to good software. The feature set is really fine, but I'm sold on PivotalTracker 's support. It's all good.

Great productivity tool

Overall I have been finding this tool very productive. As I think of user stories of tasks I simply open my iPhone and dictate into the mic to capture the information. I also use the iPad for main data entry (dictation or keyboard), as I find it much more responsive than the web application (on the iPad; on the Mac it is fine).

The only feature that I wish it had was the ability to attach acceptance tests to the user story, the same as you can do with tasks.

So Totally Awesome

Just happy to give a review to some software that is helping me and my developers and most importantly my clients so much!

We had nearly instant developer buy in and customer buy in. As compared to ultra painful for Jira and several other popular products.

We are doing some more advanced Gantt charts to help with our unique reporting needs but the PT API is there and as a group that specializes in api dev - we got it. We plan on sharing the reports ... so look for Cloud Integration Consultants in a few weeks. On the PT store.

Great software

Pivotal Tracker is a great solution for anyone doing agile development. It provides a great way to manage your use cases, while helping developers keep track of their progress on each story - and presents this to business users in a manageable manner. I recommend it to any groups that want to manage their agile projects.

I would give it five stars, but there are some features on the web site that I'd like to see here. Most notably the ability to adjust the c,isn't-side velocity in order to estimate the outcome of a project with more developers.

Great app, but missing a few important workflow features

I am a huge fan of Pivotal Tracker and rely on it for daily business operations (devs and clients). I appreciate how the application mirrors a large part of the workflow, but certain features, which are fairly important, and don't seem too complicated to integrate, are missing (ie: project history, task history and dragging/dropping). I really hope these are added one day.

Over all, I see it as a valuable app. But again, it's missing some important workflow features.

Expected better

I'm a big fan of pivotal but PivotalTracker is no replacement for the web version. Pivotal is the key place I manage my team and track progress so it needs to be great when I'm on the go and not on my computer. Getting push notifications have been an issue. I see the number badge but I never get anything on my lock screen? Also refreshing in PivotalTracker seems to be glitchy and slow. I think this needs to be tested more and you guys need to do two solid weeks of dev work and then it'll be good.

Fantastic

PivotalTracker is genuinely great. While simple, it provides all of the functionality that I NEED. There are areas where it could improve, like optionally estimating Bugs, and having a level between Epic and Story; but those are small things. The overall execution of this application is spot on, in conjunction with the online interface which is a good compliment and often makes it easy to make large amounts of changes in mass.

Good, but needs some improvements

Takes quite a while to load everything up for bigger projects. Some more lazy loading, or loading up the minimal set of data to simply show the stories and then retrieve more info for them later might help.

Also, it would be nice to have access to the "my work" view to see what's on my plate.

Did notice a bug too where I minimized PivotalTracker and came back to simply a white screen where the stories should be. Even trying to refresh or re-select the project didn't help bring it back.

Switching users would be the usefullest!

It's been very intuitive to access the wide array of story (and now epic) planning tools at Pivotal Tracker's disposal. It's beautiful and works quickly with all of my projects. Now what I'd love is to be able to use PivotalTracker for my different Pivotal Tracker accounts without needing to retype my password every time I switch contexts.

It's a terrific app, and something to be proud of. Obviously everyone will always want a little more once they know how they like to work with a tool.
