Worthless

I tried to use the “Remote Sync” function to keep my booklist on both my iPad and my iPhone. It promptly deleted the books from each. I thought I had made some kind of backup by exporting the books as a CSV file before syncing. But then when I tried to open the CSV file that MyBookList emailed me when I shared my library, I got an error message. So it apparently can’t import files that it exports. After purchasing a great many in-app purchases, it just doesn’t work. Amazingly disappointing.

A Rip-Off!

The free *trial* of MyBookList that allows you to scan a limited number of barcodes to show you how everything works, worked perfectly. So, I decided to pay the $.99 for MyBookList . THEN once I did that, I was prompted to pay another $.99 for the barcode scanner. So, I did that too. THEN when I opened MyBookList again to scan more books, the ones I’d already scanned disappeared. It gets worse. You see a list of tabs in the settings section but the only one you can click on is the one that takes you to literally pay for every single feature MyBookList offers, which should’ve been included in the $2 I already paid. $5 for a CSV export, and $5 for auto input of the books details, etc. This is literally a rip-off app that baits you with a perfectly working demo, but then SURPRISE nothing works unless you pay nearly $20 for all the standard features.

Another FREE app that dollars you to death..

I like supporting app developers but they have “mostly” all decided they are going to dollar all iOS users to death or charge an outrageous amount to buy an app in whole- if your even able to do so I.e EVERNOT. So I download MyBookList to just create a want list for books. I pay a dollar after I scan in about 10 books into my library. Then after a few more books I am prompted to pay more money to add more bookshelf space. I at this point have just slightly over 10-15 books saved. MyBookList is $10 total which because we are all using iOS no one knows until it is “WAY TOO LATE”. This has all begun to become a money trap because APPLE has designed the entire platform to be a money rating monster. That is all it does. It eats your money. And it gives very little back.

Run, don't walk away from this app!

I purchased MyBookList to keep track of my ever-growing book collection. It seemed like a great solution. I ordered most of the in-app purchases which was stupid on my part. In order for MyBookList to be useful the database sync/backup in-app purchase would be essential. Here's where the problem began. In order to do this you need to authorize thru Facebook. I tried to do this repeatedly but the process went into an endless loop and wasn't able to be completed. There was supposed to be an alternate way to set-up the sync if you didn't want to or couldn't use Facebook but in actual practice this was never offered to me. I sent the author two emails and made one phone call to explain my problem without any response. Save your money and stay away from this program.

Good idea, needs a lot of work

The search function doesn’t work. I try to search for specific books, typing in the exact title or the exact author, and they don’t show up. On top of that, I paid to unlock extra details because I was curious about the “value” of my library. They took my money but still didn’t update the value. It added a page count, but not the library value. I tried resetting my app to see if it would fix the issue, but it didn’t. Every time I click to update the value of my library, it’s asking for me to pay the extra details fee again.

I don’t think this is the bookshelf app for me

It kept freezing on me, for one. It said above that you didn’t need to login wit Facebook, but it gave me no choice but to login with Facebook. One thing that I think would be nice is to be able to manually rearrange the books on the shelves into the order that is comfortable for the user when adding books through Genius. The tools were confusing for me, too. I like the concept and the look of the virtual bookshelf, but I don’t think I’m going to renew my subscription.

Find similar feature completely non-functional

Had a lot of promise, even forked over the money for the full version so I could scan all my books. I then sat down to start seeing what all I could really do. Well, I was most excited about the “find similar books” feature, except that it couldn’t find a similar book for any of my books. I mean, seriously “no similar books found for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”.... you couldn’t find the other Harry Potter books???

Great support

I love how MyBookList let's you browse books within MyBookList , as well as keeping all of my future and finished books in one place. I had a mishap from not remembering my original sign in that seemed to delete all of my books. I wrote the company and they quickly responded, having already migrated all of my books to my new sign in. I was very happy and impressed with the speedy thorough support, as well as feeling more comfortable about the security of my days. Nice.

Functional and Useful

I expect MyBookList to manage the list of books I have read and it does so very well. Also, when on two separate occasions it was necessary to address a problem I received accurate responses within a few hours.

In many ways MyBookList is like leaving a well lit room- when asked what you thought of the lighting you would say you didn’t notice it. MyBookList seems that seemless.

Books

What a great way to keep track of the books you have purchased. I’m still working on sorting into groups or for specific persons. The images of the book covers could be a little more clear on some of them, but still good to see. I like you can add your own book and/or image if needed. It has an extensive list of books to select from!!

Great for classroom

I use MyBookList for my classroom library, and it is really useful for keeping track of my inventory. I would like to see an “add shelf” or something similar so that I can have separate catalogs for the classroom library accessible to my students and my professional library.

Few changes to make still.

I love MyBookList. How ever it crashes a lot. There is an option to get my books from kindle onto MyBookList but it doesn’t actually put them in MyBookList . Other than those two things that I wish they would change/fix I think MyBookList is amazing.

Great way to keep count of my books!

The only downside is that MyBookList isn’t entirely free—you have to purchase more room on your shelf after you’ve added a few, and the barcode scanner also isn’t free after 15 scans. But I still enjoy having a place to keep track of my library!

Deceptive

I am sick of MyBookList. Even after you do the in app upgrade, every time you go to options it continues to blink at you like you haven’t purchased anything. I think I’ve accidentally “purchased“ MyBookList upgrade three times now, which I suppose technically is my fault but they keep screaming at you to upgrade even after you have. You can’t turn it off. Plus it’s just erased all my books and apparently the only way to sign in to retrieve them is by using Facebook, which most of us would prefer her not to use as a login. Some other option ought to be available on this also. MyBookList itself works fine but I’m tired of the deceptive in app purchase bit that they have never corrected. So I’ve ( reluctantly ) deleted MyBookList . ( Apple helpfully gave me a refund on this “upgrade” also). Hope this helps somebody.

Keeping track

I’ve been known to purchase a much desired book three times! Guilty more then once... Now I can keep track of my library anywhere :) I can also sit comfortably anywhere to review what I have for my next reading selection. Love MyBookList!

Wow!!

A while ago I tried to access my list and it had been completely erased. I figured it was because of the updates. I contacted the developer and they were EXTREMELY prompt in their responses and worked diligently to restore my books!! Now, I have my book list back and I am so happy!! Thank you to the developer!! Great service!’

Awesome way to track my classroom library collection

This is perfect to track all the books I have in my classroom library. When I go to buy knew books I can just check my app to be sure I get something new 🥰

Tracks my books

A friend showed me MyBookList and I’m so grateful. I use this to keep track of the books I’ve read so far. Better than the notes feature that I was using before. It saves the book cover and allows me to rate and add my own notes.

Excellent Support

I bought MyBookList several years ago and at the time had an iPhone 4S. I had a collection of over 200 motorcycle books and relied on MyBookList to remind me of what I had when looking at new possibilities. As MyBookList was revised, it required IOS 10, but my 4S stopped updating at iOS 9. Once I updated to an iPhone 8Plus, I contacted MyBookList developer and explained that I could not get MyBookList to load my library history. Within 12 hours I was contacted by him and told that the history files were reset so that they could now be imported directly onto my new phone. I followed his directions and all of my book collection was restored. Many thanks!

Perfect Book Tracking

For those that like reading, MyBookList is so helpful in tracking what you’ve read and you can add notes when you’ve read it!
