Phone Drive: File Storage Sync Reviews

After evaluating many apps in this space, I found PhoneDrive to be hands down the best one out there. Use it to make your iPhone serve as a personal storage device (like a usb drive) that can connect to a network to send and receive any files (including photos). In addition it has the ability to move files between the common cloud storage sites, your phone and computer. Not to mention the other viewing and zipping capabilities, it doesn’t get any better than this. Bravo Guys, keep up the great work!!!

Easy to use and easy to show someone else how to use it. Does what it says. No need to worry about email size limitations. If the recipient of your docs or files does not have PhoneDrive yet, they will love you for introducing them to Phone Drive. You can have them download PhoneDrive from PhoneDrive Store, install it and send/receive files in almost less time than you can exchange email addresses. For sure, you won’t have to wait to see if you sent or received the right files. You can even organize your phone drive in folders and in sequence that makes sense to you. Great app!

One of the most useful applications for someone who wants to use their iPhone to hold all of their files, media and everything else, and then transfer it off wherever. You can even link it up to popular cloud services and send files between your device and their storage. It's easy and intuitive, and as of today has a nicer UI. It could really use the addition of better recognition when playing audio for iOS's interface, at least in terms of showing the correct time information. It de-syncs occasionally.

If you have an iPhone PhoneDrive is a must have if you want to be able to organize, access or drop files on to your phone in any kinda of productive way, in short I’ve found this to be the most useful of all the apps I have.

It does everything it says, although I have noticed that it doesn’t work with extremely large files, I tried to drag and drop 35 gig file the other day and it seems that is just to big, perhaps they could work on that to improve it further.

After years of fussing and cursing iTunes and taking too much time transferring files back and forth from my PC, enter the intelligent Phone Drive! I am a published author frequently writing on either my iPad Pro or my PC. The speed with which I can copy files between them with this application is magnificent and faster than any of my flash drives. Best of all, no wires! Communicating locally is sweet. Also, making folders is a snap! Thank you for the end run around Apple’s ridiculously complicated iTunes!

PhoneDrive is great! I am really coming to depend on it. I don't think you will be sorry you purchased it. I would ask for one change though. If it would be possible, could the search look through the text of applicable files too, instead of just file names? That would really help. Thanks for a great app. [Sorry if my review appears 2x. Sometimes there are files that are critical enough that it is wise to carry a backup on a phone. This is one of the few apps that is up to this task of being able to move critical stuff to a safe place.

This is simple, but works exceeding well. It even works on M1 Macs, which is nice, because I can use the Mac for storing files with PhoneDrive , but ensure that the damage a remote user can do is limited to PhoneDrive 's jail.

I tried over 20 different apps and this one is the best. It’s the most intuitive, organised, refined app. Well thought out and always has regular updates. I’ve had PhoneDrive for many years and it is still the best one out their. One thing I wish it had is 15 second forward or reverse on playback, which it’s perfectly ok if it doesn’t. Still works and looks very good.

I have used PhoneDrive reliably for the last four years. I considered it one of the best out there. The latest update, which completely changed the audio player has a bug where it “clips” playback of MP3 files toward the the end of the file and starts over. I have been in contact with the developer, and even took time to send them the files that were causing the problems per their request. I have since not heard anything back from them and the bug is still there. I am sad to leave this review of this once AWESOME and STABLE app. But the latest version is just not right. I will GLADLY upgrade this review of PhoneDrive if they will just repair and support it. Please fix! Thank you.

This is one of the most useful apps I have however one thing would make it better. When WiFi hotspot is enabled let PhoneDrive recognize this as a WiFi connection to allow connections. It only works about half the time and the other half a message saying that it’s not on a WiFi network shows up even though it is on a network

I love PhoneDrive. It's been a life saver since my iPhone 4s was cat swiped off the table with the iPhone 5 coming on the market.

With this app you can transfer files between any web enabled device that supports file transfer. In many occasions I have moved or sent data to friends who just will wait a second to setup.

It's a win!

I would give PhoneDrive a 5 star rating if it included an option to allow nearby sharing across different types of devices (brands/companies). For example, allowing the transferring of data from an iPhone to a Samsung phone. Right now this application only allows the information to be shared to similar types of phones from the same company. I hope you consider adding this function to your app. Thanks!

PhoneDrive is fantastic for transferring files from my phone to a computer and vice versa. You could just use Google Docs, but that is sooooooooo much slower. PhoneDrive is basically instant. Also, it keeps all of your videos saved so you can watch them on PhoneDrive while being offline

1. Recent update adds a music note icon to the top of every page…this is distracting and annoying. Please add a option in settings to hide it. 2. Deleting files does not move them to the Trash folder, instead it permanently deletes them without any chance of recovery. The Trash folder thus serves no purpose.
However, I still recommend PhoneDrive.

Also, when refreshing the browser, it errors out fast, and I then need to retype the local IP address. I find I am retyping it often between up and down loads. THANKS. Sure I will update my review.

Worked once with Bluetooth but now only works via WIFI. I have an iPhone 6 with latest iOS, a MacAir with latest OS, an iPad with up to date iOS and a new Windows 10 machine but I just can't get these devices to connect with PhoneDrive through Bluetooth. I sent an email to support over a week ago and no response. I wish it would work right as I recently really needed to transfer big files but didn't have WIFI.

Functionality on iPhone looks great. But when I try to actually do the file transfer, it seems to make the attempt and creates a zero byte file, but actual transfer never occurs. It then asks if I want to copy over an existing file (this is without me reinitializing) and gives an error. This is using the map network drive method. Using the browser method, it reads the directory on the iPhone, but dropping files in does nothing. I would gladly give this a higher rating if it worked.

The apps UI is reasonable and its access to file sharing sites such as dropbox, one drive, etc. is very clean. My concern is simply I can’t access the entire file system on the iPhone which may be due to an iOS block or other issue (my phone is not jailbroken). To be fair, PhoneDrive description never stated it would access system files.

Wouldn’t it make more sense to have a “lite” tag on the lite version and leave the pro version’s app icon looking simple and beautiful like it was before? Putting a “pro” tag on PhoneDrive icon just kinda ruins the look. Thank you.

Excellent app. The device and the computer URL sync excellently and I'm able to transfer files that I drop onto phone drive on the desktop and transform themselves to my iPhone via the software. Make sure you have a good wifi setup and you're good to go.

Who needs to transfer audio files to a cloud server and download every time they want to listen? Who hopes a WiFi network or cell towers are close-by when they must hear the latest mix?

NOT. THIS. GUY.

PhoneDrive is ESSENTIAL for me to download my mixes of current projects LOCALLY, then play them back REGARDLESS of internet connectivity. As long as my device has power, error-free playback is a finger-tap away, any time. PhoneDrive has achieved ESSENTIAL TOOL status, daily carry, never leave home with out it, probably have it more often than I have my keys or my wallet.

I download audio files and it is quick and easy.
Playback is even easier, open PhoneDrive (it remembers where you stopped) touch the file name and it plays.
I know it does a lot more. I do save some other types of files which I use from time to time, but the main ones are audio files.
EXCELLENT APP.

I call PhoneDrive one of those hidden gems because of how useful I have found it to be. Hardly any file goes out from and into my device without going through it because it is such a great medium for moving files across incompatible points.
