I was hoping VEXvia would help me follow my son’s competition, but VEXvia never worked during the event. It would show the event and the team names, but the scheduling, results, notifications never worked. VEXvia was too busy trying to refresh the entire time yet never updated any info. Hopefully this will be fixed before my son’s beat competition.
VEXvia is a poorly programmed piece of garbage. It has potential to be great but needs a serious rethinking from the ground up. Every time I start VEXvia , it is as though it were just born. Open the list of “current events?” It repopulated this list (i.e. nothing is stored on my device) starting at least three years ago. This can be accomplished with good WiFi but not with poor cellular reception. Set a favorite team? That’s not stored on my device, either. That information might download from the cloud or God-knows-where if you’ve got WiFi access. If you’d like updates of the match because you can’t be there, ask somebody else for updates. That will be much faster.
It only works on rare occasions. My husbands app updated with this year’s teams and info. Mine is blank with absolutely no teams, events etc. It works at some events, nothing at others. Totally dissatisfied because this is how we keep track of our team and verify that scores were entered correctly etc. Please fix it!
I’m sitting in the ND state tournament and VEXvia isn’t showing ANYTHING for the event or the teams. It doesn’t show anything in ND for 2019, period. I’m on an iPhone. The people next to me have no issues but their on non-iphone devices. Fix this before World in April! Not cool.
Not reliable. Doesn’t update matches well if at all. Very disappointing if you’re trying to keep up with your students’ standing in a given competition.
In theory, Vex Via is great. You can monitor your stats at a competition very easily. However, it is horrible. The competitions are listed in no particular order, the interface is horrible, there is no search, and you find yourself constantly going to the 'menu' which should be called 'options'. You have to refresh 50 times in order to get the latest data, and you get to find your competition by sorting through a laundry list of other ones. Unfortunately, there is no real replacement. I highly recommend that DWAB works on Via before next year's competition.
It seemed to start off good, but then it didn’t keep up with scores, times, matches, etc. In the end, it was just a waste of time.
Just tried this out yesterday, and while VEXvia was functional and provided me with the information of the competition I was looking for, there were several features I found myself looking for that would have made my experience even better.
1) The ability to search for competitions by city (or even state) versus having to scroll through a long list and keep my eyes peeled so that I didn't miss the competition I wanted.
2) Setting up a background update for VEXvia (every 5 minutes maybe?) versus having to tell VEXvia to manually update every time you open it. It's a little nuisance, but I get the feeling it would make VEXvia better.
3) This one would be a little harder to implement, but I think would greatly simplify the experience of using VEXvia . If there was a place to sign in with a login ID and automatically populated a list of competitions that the team was signed up for, this would remove the need altogether to have to search for a particular competition each time VEXvia is opened as the list would already be populated.
Being from a competitive vex team I really think that VEXvia needs a lot of improving. The notifications don’t even work and a lot of times a team you favorite isn’t there. Since a lot of people rely on VEXvia for matches improving it would be nice.
I used VEXvia last year and loved it. I opened VEXvia yesterday to follow our teams standings and could not because VEXvia only showed me last years events. I typed in this years competition but nothing shows up for this year.
This would be great if it worked. We are competing an I can only access the schedule an results. The rankings and teams just shows a blank screen. :(
It’s an okay app. You get what you pay for. If only notifications worked. VEXvia doesn’t even ask for the ability to show notifications, nor does it show up in the list of apps that can.
Would love to see favorited teams highlighted in the schedule tab.
I use VEXvia every time we go to competition for my vex team. Push notification thing for me has been a bit buggy and the whole science division at worlds this year was a fiasco but for the most part VEXvia is worth downloading and using.
I love vex via. It has been super helpful to our team before and during competitions. Overall, it is a GREAT app. Yes, I see what some of the negative reviews are saying, but since you won't be using VEXvia every day, there are a few bugs that occur OCCASIONALLY but don't really stop you from doing what is most important.
There are two things I would recommend to improve VEXvia.
1. A "team search". The way VEXvia is set up now, it is hard to find a specific team and there matches as fast as you may want. It would be easier to have a search bar where all you need to do is type in the team number and the team and their matches, scores, etc. will show up.
2. I wish vex via wold advertise a bit better. Like, at a lot of competitions I have talked to people about vex via, and they've never heard of it.
Other than that, I LOVE VEXvia. It is amazing and does everything it says it does. You should defiantly get VEXvia.

I Absolutely love VEXvia and find it to be extremely helpful especially in keeping track of scores possible alliance partner scores and times of competitions. My only complaint isn't with VEXvia itself but how rarely it is used at competitions.
A few things to help make it better would be...
1. Add a search function (so we can quickly search for our competition.)
2. Try advertising VEXvia more. (I have spoken to many teams that have never even heard of VEXvia)
3. Allow us to click on a team and view their past competitions. ( this would help a ton when it comes down to alliance choices.
Worked well today and I like the new nearby events feature.
VEXvia works great on many levels! One feature enhancement that would be really useful is if your favorite teams were highlighted in the big schedule of the event. I just discovered that you can look for a single team’s schedule. But for a coach that has several teams, it would be really handy to see all of them in one schedule.
