AppleTV app seriously broken

I’ve used this app regularly for a few years, but in the last couple of months it has taken a nosedive on reliability. Problems include being unable to exit a video once it starts and crashes after videos complete and should transition to the next in the queue.
I hope someone at CBC is working to address these concerns because it was a great source of Canadian news content.
Experiencing technical difficulties?

I got this app in the hope of seeing some olympic highlights or live events. To date I’ve seen only the “technical difficulties” message on EVERY video I attempted to view, this has happened every day. Perhaps it is because I am in the USA and they don’t stream to IP addresses here, BUT , there is nothing on the App Store that indicates that. So I’ll probably be deleting this app soon.

This app seems to have more ads than I remember from some time back. But my main complaint is that it seems to do a lot of background activity that depletes my iPhone 6s battery causing more cycling to be needed. I have all background activity choices turned off. I recently deleted the app and then reloaded a few days later but after a few days the same thing is happening. My senior software engineer son told me it must be buggy and to delete it, which I will do next.
