Bottom of the barrel

They let just about anyone purchase on their site. Low quality customers looking for best for the least $$ (which is to be expected I guess) The issue is there is NO vetting the person coming into your business, unlike other corps where you can give the customer a rating for unpleasant experiences, they can simply go on to the next business and purchase another Groupon to go terrorize someone else. They are entitled because they already “paid” you, rude, late, often don’t even tip for the hugely discounted service. So you basically end up working for free! Two customer have had to be escorted out by the police and I’m told they’re still able to move on and keep buying vouchers! When you try to edit the fine print I found Groupon removed it without my approval!
What I’ve learned is no matter how nice, comfortable, upscale what you provide is, Groupon will always devalue it, then add an additional discount on top. They won’t return because they are groupons customers not yours. My recommendation? Use for a couple months max. Build what you can and stop before they ruin your rep. Nothing worse than someone demanding more than their coupon covers next to your actual customer paying full price. Save yourself the headache and get social media savvy instead. Tale a class on it, will cost less than selling a voucher to only one or two customers (for me about $150 chunk they take PER SALE.)

You can market your business yourself!

FIRST- When I first started using GROUPON, I was getting a lot of customers! That much I’ll give them. They really do get you the clientele. But customer service is horrible. I’ve been trying to pause my account for a week now, and they have not returned my calls or nothing! But they’ll answer and return your call right way when you are in the process of creating a campaign with them! And now. I can’t get them on the phone. Wow! The fact that I can’t pause my own account is ridiculous.

Also, they should have some sort of inbox imbedded on their site like social media does, so If a prospect or purchaser has questions, or wants to book an appointment right from the site, they can inbox the merchant. Maybe that would help with the high number of expired coupons.

And they take so much of your money, that it feels like your doing the services next to nothing. And more then half of the clients do not return, no matter how great your services are. They just come for the deal.

Bottom line, Groupon is like Loan sharks. Their goal is to keep your account active. Because you have to honor the GROUPON, even after you decide to leave them. So they won’t respond to you or return your calls. But all is good when you get ready to start your campaign. And then they’re customer service becomes so horrible once they have made your campaign live.

I’ve had the worst experience with Groupon thus far. My campaigns have been closed out of spite bc of the account Bradford Williams. Be careful when your asked your opinion on they’re performance. If they don’t like your response they with close your account without any communication. They’re staff is poorly trained. They have no live reps to talk to everything is through email or bot chat. As a merchant you’ll have to give up 75% of your money. There account managers never reach out unless it’s a major issue. Heck I didn’t even know I had a new account manager until there was another issue. When you choose an option for new clients only they DO NOT PROMOTE your business as frequently. They will continue to sell it to clients that have already purchased, causing an issue b/w the merchant and client. It’s a whole scam throw the hole app away 🗑🗑🚮🗑🚮🗑🗑🚮🗑🗑you only benefit from cheap services when your the consumer. For a merchant this is a nightmare

Great App and easy to use!

Yes, Groupon gets a big chunk of the money and the merchant has to give up 75% of the value but the merchant isn’t having to spend advertising money up front and not know wether customers will actually respond to the others offers you may have elsewhere? With Groupon you only pay when someone spends money and commits to being your customer!!!! You’re not wasting money wondering if customers will come! Even if a customer doesn’t buy your Groupon we are still getting exposure and the more a customer see’s your name the better it is for us overall!! Just do it!

Hello,

Groupon recently reach out to me to restart a campaign with them. Upon this agreement I was very specific about certain instructions that I would like customers to adhere to before scheduling his or hers appointment.

Once the campaign was up and running I reached out to my dedicated account representative Cole Eggenberger who was unkind, unprofessional, and paused my account immediately because Groupon didn’t uphold their part of the bargain per usually.

If I were you, do not do business with this company. The don’t pay the merchants(I just redeemed a voucher and they are not going to pay me for it because they say I told them to refund all the customers who have bought groupons from me, yet they haven’t refunded a single customer).

There customer service is horrible and most of all the really don’t care about the merchant.

Go out, utilize social media and other platforms where you receive a better return and you don’t give away free services when the company decides not to pay.

Horrible App

GrouponMerchant is so bad. Where to even begin? I’ve been trying to setup a campaign from my iPad for hours now and can’t get any further than the Upload Photos section. One, it’s stupid that it’ll only take landscape oriented photos - I’m a barber and no one takes a portrait of a client in Landscape - so even after giving up on that, when I try to use the cheesy stock photos, it just crashes repeatedly! If I try to skip the photos section entirely and go to the next step, all I get is a blank screen! I’ve had NOTHING but problems with the cumbersome setup of GrouponMerchant from day one. Over it!

DO NOT GO THROUGH GROUPON

Advertising through facebook and Instagram is so much cheaper than going through them! They took 50% of the money right off the bat and then took another 25% for no reason when they FINALLY paid me! My account manager even told me they could move the margin so I’d make more and then came back and said they couldn’t and I’d have to stick with paying them half the price. I could have made $400 not using them and paying maybe $20-40 in advertising but instead I made $115. It even took a week to cancel my sale and people were still allowed to buy them during that time. NEVER AGAIN!

DONT DO IT!!!!!! Groupon will f##### you over like nobody else!!!!!
1. my pay for 1 deal should be $115 per treatment and $21 for other and I barely receive $4-7!!!!!!! Sometimes NOTHING due to they run „discount deals” all the time.

2. They dont stand by merchant.
Crazy client (she is under mental treatment) bought voucher for 2 treatments, came for one, we redeemed voucher, she had one more to go.
She had dispute with permanent make up artist i reffered her to, when she dragged me in the middle i tried to explain her that artists price was for brows OR eyeliner, she was insisting to get BOTH for PRICE OF ONE!!
Nothing to do with treatment she got from me and liked it.
So because she was unhappy with permanent make up artist she called Groupon and asked for refund on MY VOUCHER!!!! AND THEY DID IT!!!
So i provided 1 treatment for free!!!!! And when I called merchant support THEY DID NOTHING TO HELP ME !! Or reemborse me for treatment I already did!!!!
Will never run another groupon campaign.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!

They take half the money and wait weeks to pay

This is expensive advertising. Groupon TAKES HALF OF THE MONEY!!!! And they pay you every 3 weeks. There is times when I will go over a week without my payment from Groupon. You shouldn’t use this as an actual source of income. It’s more just to get your name out. Expect to work for free. It is more beneficial to just pay for advertising!!!! My service is $150. They take half. So I’m paying them $75 to advertise EACH TIME?!!!! I’m taking my business to Facebook marketing for less than half the price.

I know Groupon gets a lot of flak for how much they take from their merchants. I’m the only provider for my family and I’ve managed to keep a roof over our heads for 18 months now. Groupon has been huge in getting my business up and running bc they do all the foot work. Special thanks to my contact Kayla for being so epic!

Great for business!

This was my first time doing a deal on Groupon and it was a great experience. Tons of people inquired and viewed my deal, which is nice for exposure. I also booked a nice amount of clients through Groupon. Definitely will be running another deal. I recommend Groupon for all my fellow entrepreneurs.

Worst mistake ever

This was the worse mistake made by me for my business. Groupon takes more than half of your money which is fine to help build clients. But there is no way to reach out to someone to help us. There numbers do not work. We have put in for our campaigns to end for months and they won’t end them due to us trending m. We call nothing we email it says no service when I’m on WiFi. My next step will be contacting and attorney.

I will no longer use your services. On a deal that you charged my clients $95 to purchase, you only pay me $11?! There’s no reason whatsoever that I should only make $11 on a $95 purchase. Oh wait! I forgot that on top of the discount I already have given you give an extra 20% so then on top of that I only get paid $11 when all you’re doing is advertising my business and yet I spent hours on my work for my clients. You guys are a rip off and scam.

Not worth it

They take 50% of the funds for each sale and sometimes up to 75% when they “advertise” your product and offer an “additional discount” to customers that save your ad or show an interest in your product or service. It’s not worth it. Specially since you have to mark the product up by 30-50% to entice customers. Unless the product is inexpensive with a high mark up, you’re bound to lose money

Very poor customer service system, don’t download, you will lose money

Don’t use this website service. It’s a deceptive Internet service. When you want to collect money, you can contact them right away. When you need a refund or other services, you can’t contact them. No matter if you call, leave a message or send an email, they just don’t reply.

Major app issues

I had to set up my campaign on the website. GrouponMerchant kept saying there were connection issues! So frustrating!! Then when I went to the support on GrouponMerchant and tried to give feedback it wouldn’t let me submit it. It showed “Connection Error”!

Not very good APP

GrouponMerchant would die itself whenever I trying to pull up a client’s name! Not very efficient my opinion, after for being their merchant for a couple of years, Groupon is going downhill

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Set the deal up wrong so I had to manually process each offer that I was getting about $6 for so the manpower cost more than the offer. Contacted them on chat for an hour they did not undertsand anything I was saying and I very politely and clearly and patiently went through it all they said they would email me detials to send them. I sent them all after clarifying what things like "BT Time" and their lingo they expected me to know meant. No response and no response to two follow up emails. A week later when on their chat and went through the whole process of trying to explain it all twice and was cut off from the chat each time. The third time was told" No we cant change that we will leave it" i advised no that's not the deal I wanted or cold afford as it cost me money They continued to advise they can not and again said they will email within 48 hours. The chat was so hard I asked at one point "Is this a bot?" "Can I Speak to a person" and that was ignored. I think it may be a bot. The Stress is not worth the money I would possibly have get if they set up right but as it is has cost me money to honor the deal.

They take 45, percent of your income it's not the worst but not good either. Half of customers are cheap ass, but I also got good customers too from groupon. Its good for a shorter period of time. The company is shady that's for sure but if you are smart you can also turn things around being a groupon vender

I am blocked from my merchant account yet they continue to sell my service voucher. I cannot get ahold of anyone at groupon merchant center. This is so wrong and they have not sent an email letting me know why the blocked my merchant account so that I cannot access it.
