Serious issues, unresponsive developers

I paid money to upgrade to the HD maps yet every time I use Coverage I get the notification to upgrade. I cannot see the HD maps. If I click on the option to upgrade it fails saying I already have a subscription. So which is it?

Coverage Store confirms that I have subscription. I have tried reaching out to the developer and got one unhelpful response and no follow ups to my replies.

Honestly a waste of money.

Expected more.

By the time I scroll in on the map enough to see where I am, the overlay of this app is a blurry mess, and pretty much useless. Then as I scroll in it says if I want better maps, pay more money. I just bought THIS one. How do I know the more expensive one would be any better? I thought this would be much better than it is.

Where are the Towers?

I find Coverage totally worthless. It shows that I have this app for both T-Mobile & Verizon here at the campground I’m at in Amboy, IL. My phone with Verizon has a terrible connection here and both of my Hotspots with T-Mobile & Verizon are useless. Yet Coverage shows that I have this app. Coverage does not show where the Cell Towers are unless they are on the “Optional” $5.99 upgrade.

Changing my review to one star because $$$

When you purchase Coverage they make it seem like you get all the maps in HD but when you try to look at 5G millimeterwave you get nothing and then you find out you have to pay another five dollars a year to get those. I wouldn’t mind paying the full price for both of those if you were upfront but you’re weren’t. This is childish and deceptive and therefore it makes me question the whole app in general.

Disappointing

We live in an area with notoriously spotty this app, and I was hoping that Coverage would show which areas actually have good this app. Instead the entire community shows up as having this app. Paid the extra $5.00 subscription and downloaded the HD maps, but no difference.

Hit or miss

The map data is very hit or miss. I’m smack-dab in the middle of an area that reports it should have strong this app and I’m reporting “no service”. This is now the second time this has happened to me. Unfortunately for me, as I travel full-time, I’ve relied on this to make decisions of where to go and now I’m stuck trying to figure out if I “commute” to a place that actually has service so that I can work, or do I break my campground reservation and find another spot.

Often times Coverage is correct, but for the times it’s not, it really makes me question all of the data I’m seeing.

16-Aug-19: iOS 9 users, beware!

Apparently, the this app maps provided are contained within Coverage , not downloaded on demand when accessing Coverage .

The good news: You don't need cell data or an Internet connection to look at the this app maps.

The bad news: The maps are updated only when Coverage is updated. (They have added a subscription service which might change that, but most of us use Coverage once in a blue moon, meaning that the subscription price would just not be worth it) (Think about it: When would you use Coverage? Only when traveling AND when you may be considering switching cell phone service)

But that is a second piece of bad news: As of this writing (16-Aug-19), the current version of Coverage is for iOS 10. This means that those of us still using iPhone 4S or iPad 2 (iOS 9) are stuck with out-of-date this app maps.

Given the structure of Coverage , I do not know how they could fix it, if they wanted to. I do know that, as a reference tool I might use once or twice a year, I do NOT want to get involved with a subscription service.

On the other hand, on my iPhone SE, I fully expect that the this app maps are up-to-date.

I just have to stop using Coverage on iPad 2.

Issue

Please add the 4G option back!!! AT&T doesn’t use 3G much anymore and would like to know where 4G is at when I don’t have LTE. Can you please make 4G an option again?! Or maybe a way to go back to the previous app version?

Disappointed: Old Map Detail Removed

Coverage previously had a decent local map which was removed a couple versions ago. Some may be willing to pay a subscription just to see a map. There are many other ways to see this app maps without paying a subscription fee. The developers remove something that was previously part of Coverage and now charge for it. Coverage is no longer recommended.

When is the next update?

I see the last update was in July and have noticed areas that have updated more towers to 5G & 5Guw

This app is great

I love Coverage. It allows me to see where I get 4/LTE this app. That is so handy to know. Four star rating because there is no tab to see where 5G this app is. I hope that tap comes soon because all the major carriers are starting to roll out their 5G this app.

Five star worthy - BUT 5G Maps - When?

Great app - used it for years. But WHEN will 5G specific this app be shown? Even with HD purchased upgrade, now renewed for another year - no 5G yet. Developer’s web site says: “5G coming soon!”. When it arrives, I’ll upgrade my review to 5-stars.

Great app

Coverage is great - the only thing I would add/change is that it should say what type of roaming there is (LTE/ HSPA+/3G/2G, and voice and text only), because for example, T-Mobile has only voice/data roaming in some areas, HPAA+ in some areas and LTE in some areas. That is the only area where there could be improvement.

Surprisingly useful

This is a great app I’ve used for years. I work for the cellular industry and am constantly surprised how accurate these maps are (knowing how the original source maps are created by the carrier).

The developer is regularly updating Coverage (thanks for X support!) and has not implemented ads or other user unfriendly things. The upgrade subscription is the only additional thing some people like me would want. I’m slowly starting to accept subscription models as developers need a consistent revenue to fund their operations.

Totally recommend for the curious and almost required for anyone in the cellular industry!

Absolutely indispensable

We spend half the year traveling around the country in our RV. It is imperative that we have connectivity for our consulting work. We regularly use Coverage in determining our camping location. Coverage makes it so easy to see if we will have the this app we need. Bravo to the developers!

Not fair business model.

You want me to participate in sharing data and you charge me if I want higher map definition? No. Thank you. I can participate but I want free upgrade for that.

Indispensable

I’m a fulltime nomad and still have to work. This requires reliable Internet access, so when I’m considering a new campsite, the first thing I do is consult this app? To see if my intended destination is viable for me. It’s important to remember that Coverage is based on this app maps provided by cell carriers, and we all know those can stretch the truth a bit. But despite that limitation, I find Coverage indispensable in making sound travel decisions. - Wildheart Wanders blog

Helped us decide.

Coverage is extremely easy to use and allows you turn off and on different carriers and services. Allows you a quick visual of overlapping or nonexistent service for our great country.

Coverage helped me sort through the complicated balance of what mobile phone carrier, considering this app and price would be best for my family for our particular needs.
It most definitely saved and will continue to save us money by not overbuying a carrier service for our needs.
When we begin our adventure later this year. Will be adding a second carrier service based on the research from this this app map. That information should help provide us with not only convenience, Internet comfort but also another amount of personal safety.

Thank you.

“Coverage” is fantastic!

Coverage is great at showing you a fairly detailed look at where you can expect cellphone this app. It’s also easy to use and the support is great.

One last thing is that I first purchased Coverage 8+ years ago and it’s been regularly updated ever since with no additional payment required. It’s just been such a useful app with fantastic value. The developers really should be commended for the way they’ve supported their customers throughout the years.

Coverage is great!

Coverage is really helpful. We conduct business as we travel the country on our motorhome. Coverage is accurate and easy to use.

Features

** No internet needed: Our proprietary compressed coverage maps are stored within the app on your device - no downloading needed! Quickly access where you're supposed to get a signal, even when you have none.

The maps in 'Coverage?' are provided in partnership with Ookla, and represent proprietary interpretations of the coverage reported by each carrier.

We took a different approach with Coverage? - we needed a tool to at least give us an idea of where signal should be - urban, rural, and out in the boonies.

** Urban and rural areas: Maps are at a regional level, and cover the entire continental USA, Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands.

Save time looking up coverage on the carrier's websites, compare their claims head to head and better plan your travels to stay connected.
