PBSNEWSHOUR is really good for getting what’s important in the news without much of a bias toward either side. HOWEVER, they really need to fix their audio for videos they link in PBSNEWSHOUR . It amazes me that they haven’t done so yet!

Updated to 1 star because it’s really bothering me that they haven’t fixed the sound one videos yet. What’s the point?!? Uninstalling and looking elsewhere

Why? An outstanding new outlet & an app that doesn’t work. It fails to update programs, fails to download video & fails to play audio through my phone’s speaker, so I always have to wear a headset. But that doesn’t matter right now, because I can’t get the damned thing to even update. My favorite news program that I can’t watch.

I watch live news on the ABC News app all the time. The CNN News app is awesome. I am really disappointed. If PBSNEWSHOUR worked properly I would definitely use it the most. Since your developers haven't updated in three years there is no need to expect any improvement. Uninstalled....

I have watched and enjoyed pbs for years, finding it mostly accurate to current events compared to other obviously biased news outlets. The president race was the first time I watched it become the same as those. Low quality reporting with bias... Real journalism will report the facts and let viewers take it as it is. Your new agenda is obvious and not attractive. "Provided by viewers like you," no more.

I have the PBS Newshour app on my iPhone. I enjoy the headlines feature, presenting breaking news every day. BUT— why isn’t this available for iPad? The closest app for the PBS Newshour on iPad is the PBS Video, but it only has the previous evening’s program and related programs. The iPad is the perfect platform for breaking news stories and video. I realize iPhones are more prevalent, but the format is too small for enjoyment. I hope PBS will rethink the development goals to include breaking news on the iPad format.

PBS, you deserve, and in my mind, you owe your loyal fans a FAR BETTER VEHICLE for putting information out there! Not everyone has or wants Facebook, TV news takes way too long, and some of us avoid Twitter like the plague these days (need I say WHY? Surely not...). So anyhow, I check the news via your app regularly, to get the best possible information and unbiased reporting of news events.

Sadly, too often, the news just won’t load... I do not have this issue with any other app, my iOS is always up to date, and the problem has occurred with at least 3 different rapid wifi services... I am sure the issue is not on my end!!! And this is not new... I keep hoping, with every update, that the problem will finally get resolved, but no...

Please fix PBSNEWSHOUR, to make it reliable!! Two star rating?? Really?? That’s a travesty, given the importance of your outreach in this time of turmoil and rampant misinformation!

It could be a great app. Their news coverage is excellent. However PBSNEWSHOUR disappoints in many ways. 1. It crashes way too often. 2. There is no log-in mechanism. So you cannot save, send, not share articles of interest.

Whether they make these improvements for members as a way to encourage donations. But it’s just lacking right now.

I’ve used PBSNEWSHOUR for a long time. But for the last few months it won’t load the data. Deleted and reloaded it more times than I can count. It’s amazing to me that an organization like The NewsHour would have such a crappy app. Spend some money, you cheapskates!

PBSNEWSHOUR nicely presents the day’s news stories in a list which one can select those to their interest. However, it is an adapted iPhone app which is in portrait mode on the iPad. For some reason, the full video report did not show in the first two stories that I had watched on the air and in the iPad PBS Video app. The iPad PBS Video app did not have the news story listing as the PBS Newshour app did. It is time for app developers to bring this up to date.

EVERYTIME I watch ANY of the videos, I have to close PBSNEWSHOUR and reopen it to go to any other article. My phone completely freezes. Today I had to close the phone, reopen it, open another article from the Home Screen and then use the assist to display the NewsHour app ask I could close it! I love the NewsHour. PLEASE FIX THIS ERROR!!!

The fact that there’s a PBS app is good, I guess. But it’s just not a great app, even on the phone. And watching an iPhone app on an iPad, in 2019, seems just silly. What’s going on here? Also, I can’t even get the episode I want to watch to load half the time; it just sits there spinning. When I finally do get it to load, there’s no sound. This is really kind of shocking and, I should think, embarrassing for you. I see reviews from over a year ago calling out some of these issues and I’m not really sure what could be going on over there that these things would not be addressed.

On iPhone 7 with latest updates installed, in one section of PBSNEWSHOUR , I can view primary news video (presidential press statement)- but not supplied in context with commentary etc. In the main video section of PBSNEWSHOUR , where there are segments from the broadcast, I get an error that there is no player installed, and can't view. Also disappointing is the fact I can't just find links to play the sound-only broadcast- I didn't actually care about video. Uninstalling after first use because it's clear PBSNEWSHOUR developers have no interest in maintaining PBSNEWSHOUR. Last update in 2016!!!! Unprofessional

I want to read your news, now more than ever. Half the time when I open an article through your app, PBSNEWSHOUR crashes.

News is good. App is bad.

We watch the NewsHour nightly. And I often pull up PBSNEWSHOUR to send stories to my nieces or friends. But upon every attempt to share, PBSNEWSHOUR completely freezes. 😥

App development and maintenance isn’t that huge a cost these days. Please keep up with the Joneses —your content’s too good to squander!

The only way to watch the PBS Newshour is in one sitting. PBSNEWSHOUR freezes if I pause viewing or need to hop out of PBSNEWSHOUR and back in for some reason. Clunky experience unfortunately, dependable and necessary reporting.

Volume completely turned up. No audio. Reporting is good but sometimes like to listen to my news rather than read on small screen. FYI Selecting App Support within App Store takes you to a useless web page.

The content on here is great and very unbiased but, the outdated app makes it very hard to take in. The last software update PBSNEWSHOUR had was 3 years ago and it’s easy to tell because it doesn’t fit modern phones. PBSNEWSHOUR is slow and buggy and just needs some work.

PBSNEWSHOUR used to work well, now video content will not load or play on iPhone. Written articles are still well displayed.
Please fix this issue since your news content is excellent.

Got PBSNEWSHOUR a few weeks ago and kept despite it frequently crashing, with the hopes that updates will fix it. There's no hope for it. Will now delete it.

As a lifelong public broadcast member and devotee I am stunned that this PBS News Hour app. So little content. Where is “search” to offer access programs I missed or share a favorite story with a friend? And why is reliable downloading so clunky? The world needs more not less of PBS.

Love the news content.. Etc. except PBSNEWSHOUR crashes after reading the first story every time. Annoying at the very least. Please fix!
