Connect My Mac Reviews

After the first update released for ConnectMyMac in more than 2 years, that I had assumed was abandoned, with release notes simply saying "bugfix" I was hopeful that ConnectMyMac was now up to date and iOS 9 optimized. No such luck. It is still not even iPhone 6 screen size optimized, probably my only app that is still distorted from iPhone 5 proportions to fit an iPhone 6. ConnectMyMac looks the same, except I think the banner ad might be new. There is still the constant spammy pop up selling "Pharoh's Treasure" or whatever, despite the fact that I (and probably the vast majority of users of ConnectMyMac) have absolutely no interest in Pharo's treasure slot games. I'm guessing screen sharing users aren't exactly that ad's target audience 🙄. ConnectMyMac is so badly optimized that I haven't even tried using its screen sharing recently, I am waiting for a hopeful update that actually changes something for the better.

This tool does it's job but it could improve on the following to get 5 stars:
- Mouse pointer accuracy (there's an offset between where you point on the iPad and where the mouse pointer actually goes on the remote Mac)
- Maintaining a connection (after several minutes of connectivity, screen will freeze requiring you to reconnect)
- Complexity in using special keys (if you're trying to do such things as using shift or command to select multiple lines of remote text, a lot of jumping around between the menus is needed)

I didn't need ConnectMyMac for a long time but when I came back to it I find that it works reasonably well. The pro version price is typical for apps of this type but I would prefer if it was available as a seperate app rather then an in-app purchase.

I don't usually bother to rate apps, but since the pop-up prompted me, I'm going to tell you exactly what I think of your "update."

Before the update I used ConnectMyMac every couple of days to arrange upcoming tunes on an old Mac I use as a 24-hour iTunes jukebox. I blindly upgraded when the latest version came out.

Now I can barely use ConnectMyMac . I get constant pop up ads for a game I don't want to play, and they completely removed the option to use a mouse.

Of course I could pay their $4.99 ransom money to get my features back, but I will NEVER EVER do that because I don't want to support this practice.

Fortunately my wife never updates the apps on her iPad, so I can use that whenever I have to.

Bad form.

This was the fastest, easiest to use vnc client I’ve used for iOS. Unfortunately, it no longer seems to work since I updated to iOS 12. Thanks apple:-/

I bought pro awhile ago, now it is trying to get me to purchase it again and showing ads. No way to transfer to new phone. Garbage!!

Use it to remotely monitor my Mac server. Love it! Worth every penny. Thank you!! 😊

Description says you can access your Mac, so I downloaded it and opened it. Nothing. Go to settings but nothing.
Waste of time.

ConnectMyMac is worthless. As apple iso & the apple OS already supports screen share. So why use or buy an app that jest want to have you download. Casino games that’s all ConnectMyMac is is a unusable app

there is no more to say. ConnectMyMac is garbage. i only rate you 1 star because ConnectMyMac store says i have to. good day.

Hardly any features compared to vncviewer

all it does is keep popping up ads one after another every 4-5 seconds. would give it 0 stars if i could!

It doesn't connect. So, by definition, it is crap.

Once you figure out how to set up your Mac properly in the remote settings, ConnectMyMac can really do wonders. I used the free version to browse my mac from bed, or away from home. It makes checking my fantasy football score easy Right before going to sleep for those late games. Sometimes the mobile websites don't allow you to view a page normally. It is especially helpful for viewing pages that require flash. I upgraded to pro, because you can't scroll down on a page using the free version. It does crash more often if I am using duel monitors. Although it wasn't designed for that. It's a little slow sometimes, but nothing a little patience can't handle. Overall, well worth your download and maybe even 5 dollars if you find yourself using it often.

I downloaded the free version and tried it with UBUNTU. It worked great!!! The same night I bought the full version and am very pleased with it. I have an Ad hoc wireless connection setup within ubuntu, so I can use it anywhere, not just where there is wireless internet. I just recently used it at a large conference where I spoke, and I was able to wirelessly control a PDF presentation from the platform via my iPad. I also used it to control music and video playback through a projector and sound system to which I connect my laptop. This is a great app that allows you to remotely do just about anything you could do from in front of your computer. It is definitely worth the price.

This the first review I have written for any app. I was looking for something cost effective that would allow me to leverage the mobility and power of the iPad with the power of my home network and Macs. ConnectMyMac does just that. $5 well spent.

It allows me to remotely connect to my Mac...control it...use all of the software on said Mac...and make use of the near endless memory my network has available to it. My only co plaint and a minor one at that is that within application windows the scrolling is not very smooth, but that is a minor issue. Perhaps a future update will include a scroll wheel of some sort.

Thanks for the well written instructions ... Might consider including them with ConnectMyMac as a read me file of some sort.

ConnectMyMac has never crashed on me while using my computer, but sometimes it crashes when I start it up, especially when it was already connected and I left it for something else (multitasking support?). Really a great program when you just need a random remote for something. I just use it around my house, and setting it up through screen sharing (system preferences > sharing > screen sharing) was simple enough. Setting up a vnc connection over the web just seemed like to much work for now, so it only works at home. Set up time including reading was 15 minutes.

Upgrade to pro (you need the mouse and price is reasonable). It will work best on wifi but you can with some effort connect it to your 3G . Remember, the slower the connection, the choppier the image. It will save you network (VPN) password, so you will manually need to delete the password every time you finish. Thus if your iPhone is stolen, the thief will have access to your computer!!! Two more stars from me if the developers add a startup password option!
Update... They have password on start up now.... Flawless for what it is!

It's very cool to be able to open programs like InDesign from your iPhone. The pro version is a must if you want to do anything other than look through your folders. Other than the fact that it keeps quitting(which might be because I only get 3G around here) my only real issue is the fact that you can't wake your computer remotely.
