It switches from spelling & math every 3 questions & there's no way to choose a subject. It also has a very hard time recognizing my sons handwriting.

We’ve done the 1st and 2nd grade Teach Me apps and we like them a lot, but the spelling progression tracking isn’t weighted the same as the others. Seems odd to be advancing through stars on everything else, and spelling is stuck at 1 star.

Our biggest frustration with TeachMe is that it rarely excepts the kids letters, even when written correctly. I have pictures showing what the kids have written and what actually shows up. Both of girls hate TeachMe because of this issue and as a parent, I have to sit right with them both and make sure it is picking up what is being written. Could really use an update on the hand written portions and include a section for penmanship (how to write so TeachMe will recognize it). My kids and most of the world, have to know how to use a keypad and number pad anyways. For spelling, TeachMe has taken forever to advance my girls and they are very bored with the few word choices given over months at a time with no advancement. Also instead of changing the voice for (find the word), keep it the same and a little louder. It’s very hard to understand. Over all the girls are learning math despite the writing difficulties.
Teach town needs a save button. My daughter has used her coins to purchase some items but then they just disappeared and she didn’t get her coins back. They have both stayed away from teach town since.
Needs an update seriously, last one was 2 years ago. And the developer rarely responds to people’s comments. Are you there

I am 8 1/2 years old. Best money spent for a learning app. But you have to have really good penmanship. It is a very fun way to learn. It has a school and an art shop and other stores. You get points for correct answers. Points allow you to get coins that allow you to shop in the stores. You learn reading, math, and spelling:)

While other programs will allow your child to write their letters any way, this one has the ability to teach proper letter formation. It includes math, spelling, and writing. The game is very customizable allowing you to choose spelling only, or math only, etc. If your child is not writing well and you do not wish to address that, you can turn on a number pad for the math problems. We own the entire package. This has been a wonderful addition to my children's learning.

My son's recognition of sight words and his writing ability has improved after using TeachMe just a few times. We love it! He is really motivated by the stickers and rewards he gets after completing a set of answers, and looks forward to moving through all the different levels. We like how he thinks he's playing a video game but he's actually working on writing, math and reading. It's been perfect for car rides or while waiting in lines. I especially love the writing recognition feature, which is really helpful and fun for a resistant writer. We know our son is going to be asking us for Teach Me
Grade 3 next. Please make that available soon!

I give you 5 stars because TeachMe does something that no other educational app can deliver; keep the kid engaged in a way that I don't have to beg my kids :)). TeachMe not only teaching them how to do math, spelling, word identification, speed test etc, but also giving them some real life experience with shopping, saving (overall money management). Oh of course, I have to mention, the entertainment.

Having said that, I would like to see some more improvement. 1) You need to allow more than 3 item in the tank. I have observed the eagerness to buy more fish dies down when they realizes there are only 3 item they can add. 2) I would like to see the 'feeding' option to transform into bit intelligent function … allow the fish to get hungry when they are not feeding and make the food bit more expansive (so they solve more problems to buy more food). Last but not least, I would also like to see a zoo or Farm (where they can add farm animal, buy feed, buy treats …etc).

I would be more than happy to pay higher dollar for an app like that. All other higher priced App failed over and over for my kids. I have a Kindergartener and a 3rd grader, who are enjoying this game. (Speaking of which, I would like to see 3rd grader version, or add addition/multiplication, word problems to the 2nd graders app).

My kids have tried more than a few educational games, and many of them fall flat, they teach, but not always fun enough to keep elementary aged children engaged and playing. TeachMe is great. Even though my 4th grader more than knows the material she still really enjoys playing it and my second grader likes it as well. You can haves four different profiles to see each child's progression on a report type card. They kids answered questions, and after a few right answers they earn coins which they can spend in various shops in the game. This worth the price for fun and learning. I also loves that it has the kids practice handwriting. This is great for my ingoing 2nd grader, it does not always recognize his answers, so he has to write it again, neater to be recognized, love it!

A customizable teach town store would be a great addition, where we can upload pictures of rewards that they can buy. Consuming the items would be important (once they've been given it in real life), as well as being able to have prices greater than 10 coins. Having visual indicators in the store which show how close they are to being able to buy the item would be ideal as at the earlier grades they have a hard time understanding how much more they have to go in order to buy something with a large price on it.

Another great addition would be more voice responses, especially when children get answers wrong. Something to discourage guessing / giving up. I think an activity where they can study a problem without being tested would be good. For example, in phonics, click on every letter and it says the sound and they get some coins to spend.

Anyways, you really have a beginning to something incredible here. I think you'll find as you do the complete series up to grade 5 or so, and then really go back and flush it out, you have the potential for revolutionizing education.

The this app app. series are the very best learning apps. especially for the advanced or gifted child. If your child learns faster than their teacher can teach in class, than these apps will definitely help keep your child's interest. You can start at any level that's suitable for your child. They offer toddler thru 3rd grade. My 5 year old son loves, loves,loves these apps!! He plays them like an older kid would play playstation or wii. But he's "learning" as he plays! He wins "gold coins" in math and spelling with correct answers and is excited to buy things w/ the coins! In math, he's adding and subtracting with ease!!! They learn to purchase fun, educational items with the coins in all the different stores. He can even take real pictures with the camera on my iphone and go into the photo shop creating fun pics. He is now on the 2nd grade app. and has won over 700 coins! Sometimes I have to MAKE him put this game away. He loves math, and actually thinks it is soooo much fun! How long will he stay in this frame of mind?? LOL!
this app app. Please don't stop at 3rd grade.... I look forward to seeing more, let's keep this "learning game" momentum going!!

I’ve been a teacher for 15 years & have 3 kids. I have used TeachMe for all three, and I think it is wonderful! It is the best learning app I have seen.

My granddaughter has loved this series since Teach Me Kindergarden and was disappointed recently to find I had taken it off my phone because she I assumed she had outgrown it. I put it back on the phone & she found Teach Me 2nd grade was available. Of course we had to have it & she chooses it over about 30 other game apps! Love that she writes the answer on the screen too!

We would love to see a 3rd grade one now! She is headed for 3rd grad in in the fall. Thanks for a great app that holds her attention & helps her excel in things she is learning in school!

My daughter loves TeachMe. She plays and plays for the sheer fun of it!! I would say the math, phonics, writing and spelling lessons are terrific. There is positive reinforcement with the verbal responses, sights and sounds (coins and stores-like a virtual arcade). However, it might be a little deficient in the reading and reading comprehension dept. But, we loved it so much, we just bought the "Teach Me Kindergarten" app for our soon-to-be Kindergartner. I wish they had TeachMe for the upper grades.

I had to beg my kids to stop using these apps today. They're the perfect combination of math and reading with "prizes" they can purchase in the store using coins they earn for correct answers. My first grader is doing the second grade level and my preschooler is doing kindergarten. We got them the iPad pens so they could practice penmanship as well. I HIGHLY recommend them for 4-8 year olds!

As an OT, the part of TeachMe that drew my attention was the writing recognition. I would like to see some customization so we can add words (spelling lists) and then I would like to easily access that list and use the writing recognition so they can focus on their letter legibility while also practicing their words.

I have bought the kindergarten, first grade and second grade version of TeachMe. That is how much I love it!!

My seven-year-old loves it and each version has new features... in the second grade version, there is a variety of math sections...hard problems and easy "fast math" questions...so she practices different skills. She does spelling and sight words, too...She earns coins for answering correctly and loves to spend them in their store....

Before I let her do other games I always say " do 10 minutes" on the learning app and 10 minutes always turns into 20 or more....this is the only learning app we use regularly.

Totally worth the $$$$.

This latest one in the series is absolutely up to my expectations! My child learns with all the fun and the entertainment TeachMe provides. Finally an app I don't feel guilty to let my child spend time playing with. I love how my child is rewarded when he succeed. Everything is very well designed. I feel my child is getting a head start in his classwork. Best of all: my child is learning while having fun and doesn't want to stop learning! this app is the best educational app on the market!!! Thank you this app!!!!

My 2nd grader loves TeachMe. He has progressed quickly through the levels (we can't wait for higher grade level apps to be developed). Even though the content is somewhat easy for him, it still serves as a great review tool and he enjoys the rewards he can buy with the coins he has earned. The aquarium is a big hit!
