The user interface is cryptic, and does not conform to most normal iPhone/iPad conventions. The entire in-app help and documentation is a link to their website. The website documentation is an FAQ blog with about ten relatively inane entries. Controlling individual lights and appliances does not work at all, there's an expanding tab for them, but its always empty and grey. It doesn't even list them. If you have already set up scenes via the ISY's java interface, then you can get a listing of them in eKeypadISY. You can even turn scenes on or off, or dim them. However, you cannot see the current state of the scene, see the scene's members, nor edit the scene.
I bought this application under the premise that it was the best thing out there for ISY-99i integration and remote access from the iPhone. Oh, how wrong I was.
The application itself is not very intuitive. First, it doesn't auto-discover the ISY installed in your network so you have to manually enter in the Local IP address of the device.
Next, the remote access piece is a complete joke. It tells you it doesn't work but doesn't offer anything else but that.
Finally, and more importantly, the application is flakey. Right now, I tap the icon to launch it, the splash screen comes up and then it goes back to the iPhone home screen.
As a side note, there is no documentation to support this so in short, don't waste $45 on this POS.
I'm not sure why the other reviews are so gleaming this is one of the worst applications I ever bought on iTunes.
The control section for Lights has disappeared in this version which means all the individual Insteon devices are gone. The only control still available are Scenes and Programs. eKeypadISY is pretty much useless to me now. I've heard from the Developer that they're trying to push out a new version. Let's hope so to fix this otherwise pretty cool and functional program.
Lights tab is now missing! Can't control lights or add to Favorites! Boo! Useless app now!
Like the program a lot. One exception is the only way to control ZWave locks on the ISY is by building programs that will manually lock and unlock based on the execution of a Then or Else statement
I am very happy with this update. Quicker and all the glitches seem to be fixed. Working well with ISY ver 5.x
eKeypadISY is full of features and has great ways to customize the interface to your ISY the way you like it. I have been using it for over 1.5 years now and I still love it and use it daily. The support is above and beyond what I expected and well worth the high price of eKeypadISY .
My only regret is that I didn't pay extra and opt for the Pro version since I am now installing an M1 Gold panel in my house and (for the same price of the ISY and M1 module) I could've gotten eKeypadISY that includes all of the other add-ons too. So, if you are even remotely thinking about getting even just one of the other systems in the future, do your self a favor and spend the $99 for the eKeypad Pro.
This ap is everything I expected and more. Once you get over the thrill of opening your garage door from your iPhone you will soon realise that this ap is actually useful. Now I want to go buy a thermostat!
There was no documentation at the time I wrote this, but you really don't need any. Pretty straightforward. You will need the IP address of your ISY, the port number, your user name and password. Use the Help/About dialog from the ISY administrative console to discover your IP and port number.
This application was very easy to set up and I had it working in 5 minutes. It automatically pulls all of the devices and scenes that I have programmed in my ISY right to my phone. I highly recommended if you own an ISY.
This is a well designed app to control my ISY home system. The screen designs are well constructed and provide robust controls of all my devices, scenes, and actions. I paid a lot more for other apps to control my ISY that frankly do much less !
