Gets the job done. But it’s buggy and often frustrating to use
The app isn’t good. The website is still far better, but less convenient to use. Viewing images in the app often leaves me unable to close out of it. The one-line field for posting messages is still just awful. If you type a message with any real length it’s hard to go back and proofread. If I try to tap and hold to go back and fix a word, the magnifying glass that appears to help you see what’s under your finger just shows the splash screen so it’s useless when trying to edit post. The left side menu is still awful. Too much space between the menu items. They often take multiple taps to activate them. The order doesn’t make much sense either. The community wall option really needs to be towards the top. All the other stuff is ok where it is. But the community wall is where the app opens to, and one of the most common buttons I use but it’s at the bottom of my screen where I never expect it to be since it’s much more common for the most-accessed stuff to be at the top of menus like that.
It’s really a good app as an concierge, only thing is, they should freelance the scrolls, rather than have it set to a lock feature, so it’ll be more freedom, rather than, me finding myself; click scrolling on the screen to get to a residents unit number that’s all the way at the bottom, when it could be faster service. Also notices; the software itself, gives wrong tracking numbers, to a point where I’m being questioned by my residents about it, which brings confusion. Although it’s a great software, there’s allot of pros and cons to every successful app, out there in the market.
I appreciate the centralized, streamlined nature of ActiveBuilding, but I do wish the app had better integration into my phone rather than just being a conduit to open the website. I never get notifications about any urgent posts on my building wall because I don't think it can do that. I haven't found a well-marked way if it exists. One of my neighbors needed a jump in the garage the other day around 10am and I didn't see it until the daily digest came into my email at 8:30pm, long after I would have been able to help. Notification integration would fix this issue entirely.
Has a mind of its own
Most time I use it to submit a work order and it is very temperamental when allowing a description. If you have to make a change or have a typo forget it. You have to start over from the beginning! And it would. It allow me to edit the area of our availability for the work to be done since we have a dog and our work schedules vary. It is most helpful when submitting rent payments and commenting in the community. But then again those comments have to be approved and as of late there are rarely any messages whereas in the past there were.
Love the community and communications
This app is great for where I live. I have already received help from making a post and the management posts events and updates. Looking forward to making new neighbor friends with it. And the ease of checking and paying rent nice. And it’s maintained with my personal lease info. Very convenient and I recommend using it and all its features.
Having an app that’s user friendly makes it convenient to pay rent from anywhere if traveling, open other options to explore, view events and post on community boards with approval of management, send messages to Management and leasing agents, request maintenance, and update your profile is outstanding. Awesome job app developers! Thanks
This app just feels like a mobile webpage. It’s slow to load and clunky to use - especially the message center. Deleting messages is very annoying. You have to swipe left, then wait while a message box pops up asking if you’re sure, then tap yes, then wait for the box to disappear, and then for the message to finally delete. All in all, the idea is great and seems like it should be convenient, but I find myself avoiding using the app.
Extremely Convenient! The fact that I only stay at my apartment a few days a month, I’m not there physically to pay my rent! AB gives me the comfort ability knowing I can pay from wherever I am and everything will be fine! Thanks
Seems to be Out of Date
This app feels pretty clunky. It doesn’t seem like they’ve updated it in a while. I bet they made a “mobile-friendly” website a couple years ago and they just bundled the website into an app and this is what we got. Lazy. How am I supposed to trust them with my bank info (for rent payments)? I don’t care how many line items you cram onto your feature list! I want security! I want quality! Also, on the Account History view, the table is awkwardly crammed into a format that makes it very difficult to understand.
Good app .... but
I’ve been using it for less than a month and it’s been really good and until now the only thing I can see has to be improved is that fact that if you are consulting a document you can’t go back to the app. You have to close it and reopen it to continue what you were doing. This happens when I’m on my phone. I haven’t tested it on my computer.
Easy to use, needs notification button.
This is a great so that is easy to navigate. I can see what's going on at my apartment complex and this is good for promote like me that are new to apartment living. However, I would like noticed there is not a notification button and that would be helpful when my apartment sends out alerts. Also, the app needs an pics upload in the message body to send to management. Currently, I have to send pictures to the management email address.
When I open the app it doesn’t boot all the way, with a spinning wheel in motion. When placing a service request, the curser will land every place but where I touch, having to erase everything just to get to the typo. In some cases, it won’t even allow text after erasing all previous type. It won’t scroll either. If I’m in the app too long, working on the same message, the whole thing will freeze. I only use this app for service request, which would be helpful if it worked more often than not. - please fix.
Needs some updates for iPhone X
I cannot find a way to allow notifications so that I know when I have new messages. Also, when I read a pdf memo from my building, there isn’t a back button so I have to close the app completely to continue using the app outside of the pdf. This is very inconvenient. Please make these changes. I noticed that the most recent updates were a year ago.
This is a great resource for residents so that we are kept up to date on things happening within the community. With so many people with different schedules having it online makes it so much easier to check in than something on your door because that could always fall off etc... so please keep adding to it so we can keep informed.
How do I submit Feature Requests?
I just started using the app and noticed several missing features ( like notification settings ) that other apps have. i'd like to submit a written feature request but I don't see a way to contact the company except by phone. The apps itself appears to be just a viewer for the web site . So, nothing that you can't get from the mobile web site.
