About StudyBlue

The StudyBlue app is like getting magical powers to transform everything from a music festival bathroom line to boring bus/train/plane trips into productive study time.

Whether you need fast answers or want to eke out all that untapped EXTRA STUDY time (a.k.a., bus-stop waits, a boring NCAA game, or the five minutes before class really starts).

Crush your exams with quick help from StudyBlue's crowdsourced materials library.

• "The real power of StudyBlue is that you can share flashcards with classmates or teachers.

With your classmates at StudyBlue, you are all set to get connected, learn, and conquer your courses together.

• "I use StudyBlue flashcards for group engagement projects.

We judge not where you find extra time, but we are (slightly) judgy in how you use it.

• A free StudyBlue.com account is required.

My students retain information by quizzing one another from the flashcard decks I make for them.

So go on, organize your materials and ace that next exam.

You can create one right in the app or sign in with Google or Facebook.

Take your notes into the wild.

They won’t bite.

Study blue for your study blues!

About 3 years ago I had messed up in school; I really wasn't taking it as seriously as I needed to. I contacted study blue to cancel my subscription, and told them how disappointed I was in myself. They sent a heart felt email back pretty much saying they will keep my subscription open in case I ever wanted to go back to school, and said they were sorry to hear things didn't work out. Customer service like that is hard to come by in todays world of technology. Fast forward 3 years I am back in school, using study blue to help me prepare for every quiz, or test I have. I’ve gotten all As so far. StudyBlue not only is amazing as far as what you can do to study from flash cards, to quizzes, or fill in the blank, but this company CARES about its customers. I can genuinely say Study Blue cured my study blues! Its hard to find a company nowadays that helps you do better as a person/student, but also cares about you in general. Will definitely be using until I graduate! And would recommend to anyone!

Helped me get A's since 2010!

I LOVE this app! I've been using it since 2010, from an 8th grader in high school to a current junior in college. I will probably use it forever!! I love that you can mark cards as correct or incorrect and then keep studying the wrongs until it is drilled into your brain!

Recommendation: PLEASE make an app for the Apple Watch! I would love to study in line at the store, on the bus, etc when I don't feel like getting out my phone!

Love love love StudyBlue! Outshines all the rest because you can sign in, access from other computers, make quizzes from your flash cards & more! Perfect way to study

Why is this so complicated now????!

I've been using this app for about ten years through college and grad school and it was so easy -- just create flash cards on my computer and study flash cards on StudyBlue . I'm taking a professional class now and decided to do what I always did so I created my flash cards and when I opened StudyBlue there wasn't any way to study them. At least not anywhere that was intuitive. I tried to save my deck but they made me join a class but my class isn't through college so it didn't make any sense. I typed in crap just to see what it would do and they said they would review it and until then I could review my own materials....that's the only thing I wanted to do but there was no where for me to do that!!!!!! And now I wasted all this time making flash cards that I can't even use. It's so frustrating. Go back to your old model.

—changed my status to non-student like you said. STILL won’t let me save flash cards without joining a classy. So frustrating!!!

Needs improvement

I've been debating for awhile if I should buy a year subscription or not. I finally caved when they had a promotional discount. I decided to try it out for my A&P lab. I was excited that I could input pictures (did this on my laptop) but there is no editing tool so I could circle certain parts of my picture that pertained to that flash card. I downloaded the study blue app to my iPad so I could study on the go. The flash cards are so small I can't make out what I need to in my images and there is no zoom in feature for the images. Definitely a waste of money and time so far. On a positive note I do like that you can make a copy of a previous study guide to change things or add to the deck. Some changes and add on's I made got deleted even though I hit save. I like the idea that I can take my flash cards on the go. I don't have to carry around a huge stack of them. Hopefully these features can be improved on before my year is up.

It was heaven, but...

Okay, so this was the BEST app in the world.. until maybe a month after use. As I just finished creating a deck of card to study, it suddenly did not let me do so. StudyBlue told me I had to pay for StudyBlue , to continue use. It did not let me have access to any of my old stacks, because they had completely disappeared. This would not have been a problem if StudyBlue had mentioned a certain trial time frame, yet I never received such information. I do not think that I will be continuing usage of StudyBlue, not because of this problem, but because of the monthly price of $7 every month, if annually (cheapest offer). I hope that future users will understand that the beginning is simply a trial, and will have to pay. But I will give credit to StudyBlue and its creator. When I received the notification to pay for usage, I knew StudyBlue was too good to be true.

Would have loved to try it’d it worked

I downloaded StudyBlue to study for an upcoming test. It first prompts you to sign up so I decided to sign up using the Facebook app and was immediately told “Service unavailable” whatever the heck that means. I then tried to sign up using my name and email, ensured all of the information I submitted was correct, and was told to “try again.” I tried three more times before deleting StudyBlue in frustration. I went to StudyBlue Store to try and get support from the developer but all they offer is a list of already asked questions to peruse and surprise none of them addressed my issue. What garbage. The fact that someone is trying to use your product and can’t even get past signing up is ridiculous enough but what bothers me even more is that there is no one to help you troubleshoot the issue. Sometimes it’s like app developers are afraid of their own customers.

Glitch

There's some weird glitches with StudyBlue and when I contact the developers they really don't listen. I am computer savvy and if course tried restarting StudyBlue . The problems need to be fixed on their end. At the moment it won't let me see the card heading while making a new card. Which is kind of pointless.
And when I go for help it prompts you to upload a picture which would be super helpful for explaining this problem but StudyBlue crashes as soon as you try to do this. I'm Studying for a test and don't have time to wait for them to fix this. I'm going to try to forget about the day I wasted making a ton of cards and then the day I wasted waiting for them to get back to me with a useful answer and move on to a different app. There is some stiff competition out there so hopefully they pull it together. 🙄

Archive?

this app has a very helpful team, and I was able to work out the bumps. I definitely recommend StudyBlue to any student. It’s easy to use and is reliable. However, I notice that a lot of my classes are getting archived. Now, this isn’t that big of a deal since there is an archived folder, and I just have to “restore” the class. However, I don’t know why this is happening. I’ve never archived any decks or classes, so I am a little confused as to why I keep finding only one active class and the rest of them in the archive folder. It isn’t a hassle to use, but I’m just curious as to why this keeps happening. Other then that, StudyBlue is wonderful and well-made.

Best flash card tool

Study blue is awesome! The flip cards tool helps me memorize and the quizzes tell me how well I'm doing. It even gives the option to study just the ones I got wrong. If I forget a vocab word there's an option to add it to the deck between other cards so my notes can be in order! I can upload notes too so that I can study things that can't be made into flash cards. The only thing I wish it had was an option to organize cards and move their order around.

Can’t change my flash cards easily

Sometimes I make mistakes making the flash cards and only realize while studying . However, I have a large set of 200 + cards and it’s hard to find each individual one. When I search and tap on the word in attempt to change it it brings me to the first flash card. All I want to do is be able to fix my cards easily! Developers please fix this and you will have a 5 Star app.

UPDATE: it has been 4 weeks I have sent messages to the developers as well only to be IGNORED. It is increasingly frustrating to have to scroll through a whole list to fix one card. The search feature bug could be fixed relatively easily. Would be willing to pay for pro if this was fixed.

The best studying app I’ve come across

Regardless of what you want to study, StudyBlue has it all: 1) an easy way to create your own flash cards in any subject area / category 2) ready flash cards made by other users easy to find by category 3) great studying tools - perfect interface allowing you to visualize, track and accelerate your progress 4) It’s completely FREE - no in-app purchases, no “paid special features”. Downside? Too many notifications (can be turned off), e-mails (just unsubscribe).

Great Help for me as an older, seasoned, student!

Not only having the ability to write my note cards, but having them electronically allows me to access them anywhere. They are neat, they don’t wear and I can grade myself through StudyBlue and study the harder items until I master them all. It has already helped me in several areas of my life. And I like being able to share with my friends and others that share the same interest. Thanks STUBY BLUE and all those that contribute.

Love it! Found a strange bug this morning though.

I have used study blue for years. I don’t know how to college without it. This morning though I found a really weird bug in StudyBlue . Every time I type “Tertiary” into the term line when creating a flash card, my whole study blue app crashes. The screen goes black then StudyBlue closes and I’m taken back to my home screen. This hasn’t ever happened with StudyBlue before, but this morning it has happened on three spaced out occasions, all three of which I typed the word “Tertiary”. Any advice?

It’s okay..

My university career has flourished through the use of this app, but since I have switched to using a iPad instead of my laptop, I have run into a plethora of problems. One of the biggest issues I have is when I finish viewing a set of cards, it bugs out and won’t show me the ones I got wrong and let me retake them like it is on the website. Another issue is that the formatting from iPad to computer doesn’t work as well. The iPad inserts bulletpoints on every line and then won’t show a longer flash card and cuts them off. If StudyBlue ran as well as the website I would be a happy camper, unfortunately it has not reached that point yet.

Got me As in all the premed courses

I used this app through all four years of college. It is a great way to review material, especially in classes that require a lot of memorization, like biochemistry. I was a Neuroscience major and I credit this app with helping me get As in my science courses. It is really convenient having access to all your study material on your phone. If you download this app, it's best to make the flashcards on the website and use StudyBlue to study on the go.
