French Translator Dictionary Reviews

I love FrenchTranslatorDictionary , the option to hear the pronunciation of word in addition to the definition is great, especially when learning the language. However, the option to look up the word in English, then find the French translation would be a good feature to help the user find the word they want and strengthen their skills. A list of conjugations would also be great!

FrenchTranslatorDictionary was just great, I had been using it for more than a year now, without updating to the latest version. Yesterday it began to break when I press the translator button, so I decided to update it, and I did but the same problem kept existing, so I deleted it and redownloaded it, it worked fine but now it doesn’t translate texts in the translator, even the plural or feminine forms of the nouns, I don’t know why.
I hope support section can contact me to solve this problem.

I have been using FrenchTranslatorDictionary for a long time. I speak and teach French, and I find it very useful. There are so many things I like about it. The dictionary is quite exhaustive pronunciation is great, many verb conjugations, useful phrases and lots more.

Following is an update to my old review. The developer not only fixed the problem that I wrote about below, but he has added lots more words. Everything works great now. Just tap any word or phrase and it will pronounce it for you. I highly recommend any app by Ascendo.

Old review: FrenchTranslatorDictionary is just wonderful, but recently it stopped pronouncing words. I contacted the developer, and they responded immediately. Apparently Google changed something without notifying them, and that caused the problem. This is how to fix this issue on an iPhone: Tap the speaker icon at the top right of any dictionary word screen and turn off the switch for "Use better quality online voices when available." Then make sure the volume is turned up and try again. This totally solved the problem.

I really appreciate how FrenchTranslatorDictionary can work offline and how easy to use its interface is. It’s the only app I could use anywhere in france (because it doesn’t need wifi) even mid-conversation, and it’s very helpful for quick word lookup while I’m doing reading or writing in French.

I use FrenchTranslatorDictionary daily. It’s my trusted source to study conjugations of French verbs. I also like its dictionary where it gives common phrases that gives one a better sense of how the word is used. Lately I am using the flash cards to practice pronunciation.

I have used (attempted) three other language apps but very soon grew bored with them. I tried Duo Lingo after I was informed about it. After starting it (fully prepared to be disappointed) I was hooked. Now I can’t stop. The course is so compelling that it draws me in every day.

FrenchTranslatorDictionary is incredibly helpful. I’m just learning French and it’s the perfect quick reference, whether I’m just curious about a word, if I need to hear pronunciation, or if I need to conjugate a verb. It’s helpful for phrases and actual spoken language, including colloquialisms and even swear words. My journey en français wouldn’t be the same without it!

FrenchTranslatorDictionary includes more reliable features than any of the others I’ve tried. I especially like the related versions and alternate uses of words. Seeing words in an expression can be extremely helpful! The customer service people are great, very helpful.

This is a great French dictionary. I studied French in high school and college, and I try to keep up with it through music, news, and light reading. I inevitably forget words here and there or see new ones that I need to learn, and FrenchTranslatorDictionary is always there to help me out right away. Highly recommended! :)

There are many apps out there that may do some things better, but this one app does very well at a multitude of language tasks. Well worth the cost every year. Interface can be frustrating at times, but a minor thing compared to what you get.

I love to study French in bed as I fall asleep.. it’s a great way to lock in my learning for the day, and segue into the dream state, and it’s tiring for my brain so I usually fall asleep like a rock..

Can you please incorporate a dark mode feature please ?! As of right now it’s prohibitively bright and I cannot use it when I need it most !

For someone who remembers traveling in France with a wee, small pocket dictionary in the form of a book, FrenchTranslatorDictionary is truly miraculous. It has condensed the breadth of a library sized tome to the size of a smart phone - and provides an ease and speed to find the right word doable even in conversation. A must for any French -English student no matter the level. Je l’adore.

Among all the the great features of FrenchTranslatorDictionary, the most helpful are the conjugations of every tense of every verb PLUS spoken pronunciations of each. Anyone with any experience with French knows that you can’t look at a French word and immediately know how to pronounce it. FrenchTranslatorDictionary has spoken pronunciation of every word (noun, adjective, adverb, verb, etc) in its dictionary. This is a priceless feature and will allow the learner to teach themself proper pronunciation w/o outside help. I have used FrenchTranslatorDictionary for almost 10 years now and find it indispensable.
BUY IT!!!…you’ll find it well worth it.

This is an extraordinarily helpful app. I’ve used in constantly while learning French. I used it in France multiple times to quickly look up a word before speaking to someone and having FrenchTranslatorDictionary often made the difference in being understood. The verb conjugation FrenchTranslatorDictionary offers is invaluable on its own.

I’ve been using this service/app for years, and I find it so useful. I especially like all the examples and idiomatic phrases that are shared with the word definitions. I also really like the search functionality — I get to see a lot of related words at once in the autofill, this helps me to find the right word, OR learn even more about the word I’m looking for (its various forms and uses).

I don’t know how anyone learns a language without FrenchTranslatorDictionary! The translations are accurate and reflect the most up to date ways that the language is used. I especially appreciate the way FrenchTranslatorDictionary has helped me with my pronunciation. I was afraid to try learning French because I thought I’d never get the hang of the pronunciation. FrenchTranslatorDictionary has shown me that I CAN learn how to speak French!

I’m 70 years old and trying to refresh my High School French and tutor my granddaughter! Memorizing is difficult at this age. I’m using Duolingo plus a couple other free online systems. I rely on the dictionary for all the words I forget. I like the pronunciation feature and the conjugations. All the examples and different uses are very helpful. This free French/English dictionary is the best! I use it everyday. Thank you!

This is the best dictionary translator app! It is far more accurate than any other apps or websites I have used and is incredibly easy to use. Instead of just offering a word or two as translation, it gives contextual usage definitions, which is critical in foreign languages! It also conjugates verbs and offers phrase translations. Additionally, it has some ways to improve your language skills like flash cards and quizzes. The free version is great and the ads are not overly distracting.

The Vidalingua app has a clear, user friendly interface that makes finding French and English words from the same location super easy. Translations often include various cases as needed; eg pronoun, interjection, question, insult, emotion (swear words), etc. The phrase translator is great with a voice recognition option. The free/advertising option includes many verb conjugations, and is not too intrusive but after a year I decided FrenchTranslatorDictionary is worth the low annual subscription.

FrenchTranslatorDictionary translates and more. It provides the meaning in certain contexts. Then gives examples so that you begin to see how the word conveys the thought. You discover some of the colloquial uses. Fantastic. It makes you think about the language, not just memorize words. Mots.
